Cons:When I made my online reservation for a vehicle in Liberia, Costa Rica I was quoted a rate of $112 USD. I also checked with my credit card company to verify that I was covered for insurance, liability and collision, when using my credit card as the payment form for the transaction. When checking in to pick up my vehicle at the Liberia Thrifty location I was told that the government of Costa Rica requires renters to purchase this insurance which more than tripled my rental price from the quoted $112 to $375!!! No where on the online reservation site was there any mention of the required insurance coverage or the outrageous cost of this coverage! Thrifty should make more of this ripoff!!!
Pros:Would avoid renting car from this location.
Cons:Intimidation and force used to get you to buy daily insurance at higher cost when picking up car. No matter what they will find problems with car at drop off.
Pros:Nothing. They didn't show and didn't answer the phone. Even after I called to confirm before we let.
Cons:No shuttle was at the airport. Nobody answered and we ended up having to pay $600 and rented a car all week that we didn't want. Thanks thrifty- you made me spend almost half of my budget for the week on a car we didn't want- all because you lied to me.

Cons:I called their international number to provide my flight information and was assured that someone's would be there to pick me up when I arrived even if my flight was delayed. I was left stranded at the airport with no car and had to rush make alternate araingements. Scary and unfrofessional treatment.
Pros:The car was great, but we had to pay $477 in required insurance for 9 days. The car rental was only $70. The website doesn't mention this.

Cons:We arrived in the evening with a full-size SUV reservation, I do not believe we had a full-size as it was the last car in the lot, still we paid full price and the insurance is insane! Not their fault but they could warn you before you arrive, wont let you rent without it
Cons:We booked our vehicle online through Kayak and also purchased insurance. Upon arrival at Thrifty, we were told that they would not accept the insurance and that we would have to purchase our insurance from Thrifty at a cost of over $700. It was basically "take it or leave it". Why does Kayak allow insurance to be sold through their website when it is invalid? We are very upset with this transaction and I would not recommend anyone to book through Kayak. Book directly with the car rental agency so you will know your final cost beforehand. Be prepared.
Pros:The total price advertised was false. If the country requires mandatory insurance, the insurance should be included in the total price. I feel I was baited and switched, due to the false advertisement of low prices.

Cons:The surprise insurance add on, that was WAY BEYOND what was expected and not advertised in the on-line price. Also told there was no option, had to pay for it.
Pros:The vehicle was clean, my reservation was in order when I arrived, and the staff were very friendly. No problems with the vehicle whatsoever. Also, I had a very early departure on my final day and arrived a little bit before 5 am when they open. They were very accommodating and allowed me access into the lot while they got ready to open for the day. Shuttle service from and to the airport was very nice and easy. All employees were so nice.
Cons:No complaints. Would've felt better if there were a 24 hour drop off system in place but I realize they probably don't have the volume yet necessary for that. Something to keep in mind for the future!
