Worst plane ride ever. So uncomfortable and it ran late was just not a great company for us

Pros: "I am a little disabled... Am in a electric wheelchair, can't speak very well, this was my first flight alone and my chair would not lock in upright position after unfolding it. (If I leaned back on the backrest it would collapse/fold up. I learned I had to lean forward to keep it up.) Everyone was very accommodating and very helpful! At the Provo Airport they gave me a regular wheelchair and I showed them how to remove the lithium battery, remove and stow the joystick and how to fold my chair. No drinks or snacks unless you pay for them. On arrival I waited for everyone else to exit but also took advantage of the lavatory to relieve my bladder ;-). They were waiting trying to unfold my chair. I gave them instructions to step there and lift on the arms and up it went! I showed them where the joystick was, they pulled it out and connected it to the arm, put the battery in the bag, plugged it in, zipped up the bag and I pressed the green button and Voila! it was done! Thank you to the Awesome Allegiant Crew!"

I need to take medications in a carry on to avoid them being stolen by baggage handlers who go through your luggage. I have never had to pay for that privilege. Was only offered items for purchase. I have a medical condition and need ice water all the time. It wasn't available."

If anyone uses the bromide "the customer is all important", cite this example as proof positive of the lie that is that tired statement. This circumstance, was, essentially no one's fault and yet the employee reaction on behalf of Frontier airlines speaks volumes to the general attitude that the ORGANIZATION takes toward its paying customers. Due to delays on the first leg of the trip from DC to Denver, the connecting flight was missed. This is understandable on its own, as I have no expectation that a second flight would be held for me. However, the fact that Frontier, as an organization, feels ABSOLUTELY NO OBLIGATION WHATSOEVER to assisting their customers in arriving to their ultimate destination in a timely manner means they will never, EVER, get my money again. To make matters worse, the two options they DID offer, were unacceptable: 1) Offered a flight to an airport an hour away from my destination & 2) Offered a flight to my actual destination...two days later (in the airport on Tuesday; they offered to get me on a flight to my destination Thursday) AND this offer with absolutely no assistance regarding sleeping arrangements for TWO NIGHTS. In short, trip was complicated for which I do not blame Frontier. However, their complete lack of customer service to a paying customer ultimately has cost them future customers. My family travels frequently and I will certainly advise any and all persons I know NOT TO EVER TRAVEL ON FRONTIER AIRLINES! I will, however, recommend the FAR MORE CUSTOMER FRIENDLY DELTA airlines)"

I had already been in line for 20 minutes and when I got the the desk at 40 minutes until my fllight, she said "too bad." Great Mother's Day for me sitting in the airport for 7 hours until the next flight out. Girl was horrible and totally rude. Never again."

My knees touched the seat in front of me the whole flight. And the seats don't recline. To make everything just perfect, they lost my luggage on the flight home, and the lady who worked with Frontier who took all 15 (?) of us who had lost luggage over to make a claim said "this is normal for flights coming from Denver - it's a hub for Frontier, so luggage gets misplaced all the time." I'm sorry, that's not acceptable as an answer. I've never had a lost bag while flying with others, so that's what I will do from now on."

May sound petty but it really irked me. On another note, when ordering a cocktail you pay on a IPAD which asks you the percentage of gratuity you would like to leave. Grossly inappropriate as flight crew cannot except tips under FAA law."

Then on the way back , one of the flight was talking/ laughing so hard in the back that the whole plane could hear . And finally , we got to hear a long 5 minutes sales pitch about the new flights Spirit Airlines added . Seats don't recline ."

Only free beverage is water. No free snack. No inflight magazine. I usually fly Southwest but they didn't have a flight when I needed to go. Frontier was on par with SWA in terms of price, but far inferior in terms of onboard experience. I will not fly them again, it was quite an uncomfortable flight."

Frontier made an adjustment to all its passangers without their knowledge or approval. The change was a nine (9) hour layover arriving at midnight! No full-paying customer would ever consent or pay to sit at an airport for 9 hours!! This was the only available flight Frontier had available on this travel day. Flight was canceled and reimbursed, however we're still out lots of $ in order to last minute book a one-way flight with another airline. Frontier = Worst Airline - avoid the stress and headache.. Please do NOT fly with Fronteir Airlines."

There was no clear reason for that: it was a direct flight and the luggage was registered two hour before the departure. However the luggage was finally delivered to my hotel the next morning."

When you book the flight you are forced to choose a seat and every single seat on the airplane has an upcharge ($5 minimum but a lot more for the front of the plane). They also charge you to take a carry on ($60 at the gate). It was actually more money to carry a bag on that it was to check a bag. They artificially deflate their prices in search engines so they populate 1st and then up charge you when you get to the airport. The planes are dirty, seats are uncomfortable as the arms are still in your way when they fold up. I've now flown 3 times on frontier and the planes had terrible turbulence on the takeoff and landing. I have nothing good to say about my experience. Take another airline and at least you'll be paying the correct price up front, not weaseled into paying more when you check in for your flight."

Cons: "I shouldn't have to choose to sit in the exit row in order to get enough legroom to fit comfortably in a flight where I'm not going to get food, peanuts, or a seat that reclines. Every leg of my trip was this way. On my way out I flew a red-eye and planned to sleep because I had business to deal with once I landed. Without legroom or being able to recline I was too uncomfortable to get any sleep. I also had to pay for carry-on AND check baggage? Is a person not supposed to bring anything with them when they fly? Lastly, if I wanted to sit anywhere comfortable or in a reclining seat I again have to pay to upgrade? This fact was unknown to me until the online check in process. Overall, I'm very dissatisfied with my experience. I have another trip next week and I already chose to pay $100 more for American Airlines instead of frontier, I will have comfort, food, wifi, won't have to pay for my baggage. This is America, we expect comfort. At least give us wifi. My experience with Frontier has made up my mind about paying more to get treated the way I deserve, not as if I was flying in a C130 Cargo plane."

I called and talked to an agent and asked how my flight could have all of sudden gotten two hours longer and was told the delayed departure was correct and the arrive time was not. He said it was a mechanical issue and could change so I should still go to the airport an hour before my original departure time, which I did. When I arrived the flight was now delayed by more than four hours and I was told it was due to the crew being timed out so I had to sit there for five hours waiting to leave. I should be compensated for this error but cannot find out how to do that!"

In addition having cup o noodles and buzz balls as a choice sucks. The seats are super uncomfortable. No matter how small you are you will be touching shoulder to shoulder. Do not attempt to use your armrest. The seats hurt your bottom as well. Keep in mind I was on a flight for 1 hour. I'm not a big girl so that was not the problem. Carry on luggage the normal size, you have to pay for. So make sure you pay ahead or you will pay $100 at the gate."
Pros: "The snack selection on the flight and food package options were reasonably priced, and there were quite a few good options."
Cons: "We arrived at the airport and were through security over an hour prior to our flight's takeoff. We decided to grab breakfast at a restaurant approximately 2-3 gates down from our gate. We arrived back at our gate 17 minutes prior to the departure time and the door to the entryway was already closed. No spirit attendants remained at the gate to assist or inform us about who we should speak to regarding this matter. We sat at the gate and watched our flight take over 15 minutes to pull away from entryway with no one available to direct us. After the plane pulled away, a few Spirit staff members came back out the door to the gate, and when we inquired as to why our names were not called throughout the airport (as we heard many other names called while sitting at the airport) they informed us we would have to talk to the customer service desk if we had an issue. We went to the customer service desk and they put us on another flight, which did not depart until late that day. We went to the customer service desks of 3 other airlines attempting to find a sooner flight, and when we explained Spirit closed the gates 17 minutes early, each airline stated that the industry standard is 10 minutes. Not only does Spirit not follow the industry standard, but they also shut the gates 2minutes prior to Spirit's standard which is 15 minutes before the flight. Additionally, no effort was made to call our names prior to the flight, as is customary with all airlines. Two days later, we went to board our return flight, which a week prior to our trip we paid $585 to change to that day, and when we went to check in we were not scheduled to be on that return flight. We showed proof of switching our flight and luckily the attendant was able to get us on that flight, however, we were extremely rushed getting through security and due to Spirit's mistake almost missed this flight as well. If no seats would have been available we would not have been able to get home despite paying to switch the flight a week in advanced. Overall, we were very disappointed with our experience traveling with Spirit and would not recommend the airline to anyone. We are frequent travelers for both business and recreation and have never experienced such poor customer service."

I had to pay a $100 fee to change my flight and they didn't have any options for same day. The flight wasn't even boarding yet and there wasn't a line for security and the gate was very close. If they don't let passengers know of their rules when selling through a 3rd party website THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SELL THROUGH 3rd PARTY WEBSITES! Absolutely disgraceful experience."

Cons: "-The fees quickly added up to the same as other comparable flights. -We had booked two evening flights, both of which were rescheduled several times, then cancelled - pushing flights to the next day. -Please keep in mind that if they cancel your flight you are entitled to full refund of all amounts paid. -After refunding $900 in expenses, Spirit charged a $150 cancellation fee and some $40 strange fee. These amounts should not have been taken out for a refund when the airline is at fault and after some hassle, they refunded the full amount. -When you value your time, do not fly Spirit."

Cons: "My trip home was ruined when I had to pay an extra $65 for a super small roll-on bag. I was called out of the on boarding line and not informed as to why. This experience was embarrassing and made me feel awful. I would have not been so upset if I had to pay the same fee on the way down. I actually was able to bring 2 carry-ons out of Oakland without any charge. The LAX SPIRIT team made me consolidate into one bag (which I did earlier) and then charged me an outrageously high fee for a small, 18" roll on that fits under the seat! SPIRIT is inconsistent in their service/policies airport to airport. They have lost me as a customer based on how they nickel and dime their customers with inconsistent policy enforcement of their policies. This industry continues to bulldoze the customer and makes air travel beyond painful."

I told the agent I wasn't aware of their policy that all gates close 45mins prior to boarding. It's not like I had a checked bag in which case I would understand. Letting someone not board a plane 45 mins prior to arriving at the airport is just plain madness. They were so unadjusting and not ready to listen and then wanted me to pay $99 to fly the next day. Their service seriously needs major upgrade. I try not flying spirit because of this reason and now will avoid it at all costs."

The cancellation hotline was not too helpful - they rebooked me on a Delta flight connecting to two more United flights. Delta flight was delayed so I would have missed my 2 connections. Finally rebooked me on another Southwest flight to New Orleans (final destination) that they should have rebooked me on in the first place. Also discovered upon my second rebooking that the initial rebooking agent did not rebook my return flight, so I would not have had a seat had my first rebooking leg not been delayed. Only offered at $50 Spirit voucher for the inconvenience. Definitely never taking Spirit again."

Cons: "I was charged for carrying on my roll on bag because of its shape. While my brother on the same flight carried on an even larger backpack.But, it was considered a personal item. Also because we did not wish to pay even more to pick our seats, we were assigned the last row on the plane where the fuselage begins to taper towards the tail of a plane. Therefore it there was not nearly enough shoulder room for my brother and me. Overall the discomfort, lackadaisical staff, and shrewd penny-pinching policies insured that I will never fly Spirit Airlines again."

Overall the experience with Spirit has been horrible and expensive. Their business practice includes deceptive pricing, over charging for luggage, and long waits. I will never fly with Spirit again."

Cons: "Weather delay with fog in San Diego. Not Spirit's fault but they delayed for an hour and a half and then cancel the flight. As they canceled the flight they came around with cards with a number to call to rebook or change your itinerary. I called the number on the car rather than getting right in line at the desk. By the time I got through on the phone it would have been 10 to 15 minutes. They told me that since I was halfway through my return trip they couldn't do anything over the phone. So then I had to get in line and wait. I was the last person served. They offered me a flight to days later at the same time 9:45 PM that was unacceptable so I ask for something else and he somehow turned out they had a Houston Chicago San Diego flight that leaves tomorrow morning at seven. Very disappointed in the handling by the rebooking staff on the phone the gate agents were very friendly but very overworked and stressed. Service manager was there and he put me on a call back on the phone but that didn't help either. Not flying spirit again anytime soon."

Spirit was unable/unwilling to provide me with another flight to my destination on the same day, and as a result I had to book a flight with another airline. Spirit refunded my ticket price, but I had to pay 5 times that much to book a flight with such short notice on another airline, and Spirit refused to do anything else to compensate me for this huge loss of money, due to their cancellation of the flight I had booked. I will never fly Spirit again."

Cons: "THEY CHARGED ME $65 AT THE GATE FOR MY BAG THAT COMPLETELY FIT IN THEIR DEFINED DIMENSIONS! When I checked my bag at home, it was within their dimensions. When I checked it at the ticket counter it fit within their metal frame for measuring. When I got to the gate, they told me to step aside and check my bag. Without even looking at my bag, the lady at the counter told me it wouldn't fit and I had to pay extra. I told her it fit, and with an attitude, she asked me to put it in the frame to see if it fit. Suddenly, it did not. She said it didn't fit by over 2 inches. It was less than a 1/4 of an inch, and barely that. I was furious. She refused to care, refused to listen to me, and told me that it was either pay the $65 and board the plane or leave the bag there. Totally rude, and did this to SEVERAL OTHER PASSENGERS. HIGHLY DOUBT I'LL EVER FLY THIS AIRLINE AGAIN."

Plan ahead - you will not be able to use TSA Pre-Check, you will have to pay extra to carry on a bag (so buy your bag online at the airline's website before you go to the airport - this is the cheapest way to do it as they charge you more to purchase the carry-on at the check-in counter and even more if you wait until the boarding gate), and you will have to pay for all beverages including water and provide your own in-flight entertainment. If you plan ahead and know what you're getting into, flying Spirit can be a pleasant experience. The flight staff is friendly and polite."

The lady at the gate said not to worry, we weren't even getting off of this plane. 10 MINUTES BEFORE BOARDING, I'm told that I'm going to miss my connecting flight and that my options were to either sleep over at Vegas or fly out the next day. I decided to fly out the next day, getting to my destination at noon. Got home, looked up the flight that the man at the kiosk booked me, AND IT WAS GETTING IN AT 11PM THE NEXT NIGHT. I called Spirit, infuriated that the rep literally lied to me, and asked to speak with a manager. I was told that a manager would have to call me back (WHAT?). I have yet to receive a phone call. I will never, EVER, EVER, fly Spirit airlines ever again."

Cons: "I attempted to purchase luggage before each of my flights (departure and return) and the website would not allow it. I called the customer service number multiple times and it said they were experiencing technical difficulties. I was forced to purchase luggage allowance at the airport on both flights and was forced to pay a much larger amount that what I normally would have had to pay if the website was working. This excessive fee really makes the option of flying spirit less economical, frustrating, and really obliterates any reason to fly with your airline. Additionally, I was able to purchase seating before my flight- but on my return flight they put me in a seat that I did not pay for. The flight attendant did make a correction. Your staff at the main terminals is consistently extremely slow, unfortunately. I really like the flight attendants, they are always great. However, due to the above mentioned issues I have had recurrently, I will certainly be reluctant to purchase Spirit flights in the future"

Pros: "Staff at Spirit Airlines at OAK airport were really nice and helpful. Flight was cheap and safely flown - a huge plus for me, but plane not cleaned well and baggage fees were higher than the price of the flight itself so I am very lucky I brought a recognized carry-on bag."
Cons: "For my outgoing flight, my front pocket magazine holder in front was pretty covered in some stain that I couldn't recognize but was sticky to the touch. I knew they hadn't really cleaned the plane. I didn't really open that magazine holder because it was covered by this large stain. My return flight was changed several times due to mechanical issues but I appreciate that Kayak sent updates via email. It was 70% likely not to fly but ended up flying maybe 3 hrs later (good that they made sure to be safe than sorry) but I just couldn't wait to find out overnight that it would be cancelled at the airport, so I had to reschedule my flight for the next day and find housing and transportation again. I overheard other passengers complained out loud even on the initial flight to OAK airport that they would not travel with Spirit again, but I had more issues with my return flight than my outbound flight. All in all, I think you get what you pay for but this was probably not the best experience."

Spirit advertises "no frills" flying and so I assume it may be part of this scam to save costs (?) of printing "TSA Pre" on their boarding passes to allow quicker passage through the checkpoint. Spirit levies an up charge for everything but breathing the air in their planes and part of this seems to be the elimination of reclining seats. I'm 6'4" and have difficulty sitting comfortably in the seats, my knees jammed against the seat back in front of me. Also, I feel every movement of the passenger behind me for the same reason. Very annoying. I'll not be flying Spirit again."

This wouldn't make me as upset as i am right now but what pisses me off most is the fact that an employee for Spirit told me you only need to pay the added fee once for the flight to Oakland airport but needn't pay again for the trip back to LAX. This was a lie, for they said you must pay the same fee again for the the return flight. Seriously?! Not only that, but upon arriving 45 min early for the return flight to LAX, they told me I missed my flight and could not check in. To top it off, I was charged 75 $ to find the new flight which wasn't even for the next day but the day after for the same time.. Along side the very rude costumer service from your airline staff, you ask how i would rate my experience with Spirit airlines? TERRIBLE! I would give 0 stars if possible and never again will I book another ticket for Spirit airlines ever again."

Cons: "I was "late" meaning i made it to the gate before my zone boarded and I was charged a late fee of $10 for not making it to the airport 45 min before my flight. Because i was "late", again i put late in quotations because i made it to the gate before boarding, spirit airlines recorded that I was not present on that flight. I only found this out when i got the the airport for my return flight (1 1/2 hours before take off) and the counter staff informed my that i had "missed" my original flight and was absolutely not allowed to take the return flight i had paid for because i "missed" the first flight of my round trip ticket. I was given the option of buying another ticket or calling customer service with my own cell phone. When i asked if they could call or patch me through to customer service, the spirit employee said "no i can not do that." I quickly found out that their customer service is completely automated and just refers you back to the useless spirit airlines website. I then told the counter attendant that the customer service 800 number was automated and neither that nor the website (which i had to create an account with to receive any information at all about my reservation) had provided me with any information about my flight. The spirit employee had the nerve to tell me i was wrong and another argument ensued, to an end in which the spirit employee finally relented and called the manager on a walky talky. Then, finally, after at least 10 minutes of entering the wrong information into the computer they put me on stand by and let me proceed to security. I will say it again, spirit airlines is a scam, how they operate should be illegal and i will never ever give them a single penny for the rest of my life."
Cons: "I had my boarding pass on my cell phone, but the security gate scanner cannot read Spirit passes electronically. I asked an Spirit agent to print my boarding pass, and she DECLINED to help. We went into a 20 minutes argument, and at the end, she called the boarding gate and told to leave since I was unable to pass without my boarding pass printed. The superviser showed up, but was of no help. At I needed was a boarding pass printed, to be able to pass the security gate. I lost my flight because of their incapability."
