You would think an issue like this would be readily solved by foreplanning, but instead we sat on the tarmac just waiting for our turn to take off. Some form of entertainment on the plane would've been nice. Or at least a place to charge electronics. Our bags arrived at our destination before we did, and although I immediately received a text alerting me to this fact, I was dismayed to find out they were in an entirely different terminal of the DFW airport. After 24 hours of travel and very little sleep, instead of just walking off the plane and retrieving our bags, our group of 20 weary souls had to first determine where our luggage was, catch a bus to a different terminal ( because of the size of our group we couldn't all fit on the first bus, so had to wait for the second bus), and then track down our bags. American Airlines did absolutely nothing to help make this experience any easier for us. Five of our party were in wheelchairs due to various levels of exhaustion or ailment, and all we were told is "I'm sorry but there's nothing we can do." This little adventure delayed us about an hour."

Cons: "I had discovered the carry-on bag charges AFTER purchasing the ticket online which is a bit underhanded. My 'bargain' ticket was now the same price as every other airline plus the 'privilege' of food and beverage purchase whereas all the vanguard carriers still offer free carry-on, snacks and soft drinks. BTW unless you're drunk or completely exhausted, don't plan on getting much sleep: the seats were made with some of the thinnest padding I've experienced and you might get 3-4 inches of recline, IF you can locate the lever! IMPORTANT!! If you don't order THE WORKS pkg ($55) when you INITIALLY pay for your ticket, which includes refund waiver along with check-in, carry-on and seat choice, you're stuck with THE PERKS ($45) which has all the above EXCEPT the refund waiver. The refund fee is $99! You can do everything a la carte, but will cost more beyond 1 bag. BTW, do it all online or you'll pay more at the airport. All in all, absolutely fine for the price if you have a personal sized item (i.e. up to a small backpack) but a standard size carry-on or check-in will definitely put a wrinkle in your flight budget!"

I didn't have that much money to waste so I was happy to see Frontier. I've never heard about Frontier but I said what the hell we're going to die one day anyway. On departure day everything went smoothly. I paid $160 for several bags. I didn't mind because I am used to travelling US Airways and American so bags weren't free with them either and Frontier's prices are a bit less for the first 2 checked bags. I was surprised about the carry on bag charge but everything still worked out to being less than what other airlines were charging. My flight left on time, arrived early and everything was good. I'm in Jamaica!"

Easy travel the Sunday after Thanksgiving felt like a miracle. You have to know that you pay for all of the extras (including coffee). It's still less expensive than flying other airlines most of the time."

The seats are even funnier until the end of the flight when you stand up and it's a relief. Not to mention they're just plastic wrapped in leather so the sweat marks in my khaki shorts were very apparent. Thankfully the airport bathrooms had hand dryers low enough to dry them. The little bungee cords that have taken the place of a full pocket on the seat backs that would typically hold my cell phone were subpar. Ya know because the aircraft was so sporty in flight my phone would go flying out of the impromptu "pocket". And since we're talking about the aircraft now, I saw the small sign on the outside of the plane that said "fit fleet" claiming to be the youngest aircraft out there. Jesus I mean, my return flight was delayed two hours and the captain had the nerve to say " don't really know what caused that" well with my background in aviation I know that typically doesn't mean anything good. The aircraft may have been lacking in sound proofing below because things like the landing gear deploying and retracting were sounds anyone would cringe at. So overall I've realized that the extra 40 to 60 dollars for another carrier will probably be well worth it."
Cons: "Flight was cancelled last minute then customer service was horrible after words. They couldn't locate my bag that didn't leave the airport for 2 hours. Everytime I had to wait in line to talk to someone, because my bag wasn't where they said it would be, it was a 40 minute wait. This happened four Times. Never again will I fly spirit"
Pros: "The flight and boarding went very smoothly and was pretty much on-time. I enjoyed the flight."
Cons: "The announcer was very unprofessional, she lacked the skills required to be an effective communicator. She got the locations mixed up during multiple announcements which confused travelers as to which flights we boarding and when. It appeared she was not aware of the importance of her job because when making the mistakes she had little concern with getting the correct information and herself together prior to making further announcements, she was okay with continuing to make the same mistakes."

Cons: "We were unable to board out flight. We arrived at the airport 50 minutes before our flight. We tried but were unable to print our boarding passes at home. When we got there we waited behind 2 couples before getting up to the attendant. When we got to the front they told us we were too late and could not take our flight. We were 44 minutes before our flight and they close their system at 45 minutes. We called customer service and they told us the supervisor could open the flight and let us on if we showed her that we tried to print our boarding passes and could not. We had a picture and showed her but she did not care. She was not letting us on our flight for anything. I don't know if she was on a power trip or what but I have NEVER experienced such poor customer service and unwillingness to help a customer in my life. They then told us they could book us on the next flight out, which was the next day. We went to American and flew American. They were super helpful and got us on a flight out 2 hours later. Thankfully for American we only missed the first night of our conference and not a full day, like Spirit would have had us miss. I will never fly spirit again after that experience."

Cons: "Cancelled original flight to San Diego due to inability to fill seats and could only offer a flight to LA. Spirit has no affiliates and cannot place you on another airline. Spirit will not reimbuse me for the travel cost from LA to SD. This will be my last Spirit flight."

Cons: "The seats and space were much smaller than other aircraft I've been on. I'm 6'6" and had a difficult time fitting into the seats"
Cons: "Late flight. Delayed flight on and then delayed again... unable to tell us when the flight would take off.. unable to rebook flight to the next morning... Airport reported that plane was broken and required a part from JFK airport and that they did not know when that part would arrive...and once it arrived they had no idea how long it would take to fix that plane. Then approaching the new 3 hour and 40 minute delayed flight time, we ended up switching gates to a different plane anyway. the plane got into Dallas around 330AM which was difficult to make arrangements for transportation upon arrival. Would not fly again."

Cons: "When I called Spirit after the flight was cancelled the operator was not helpful at all. I could not understand her on the phone. She did not present me with any alternative flights. As a result I ended up cancelling my trip. It just goes to show you that you cannot rely on discount airlines that do not have consistent service to another airport. I will not fly Spirit again unless absolutely necessary. I would rather spend more money on a flight and have alternatives when something goes wrong..."

Cons: "Hidden bad fees. Luckily I caught it other wise it would have been $100 each way to check a bag. Even with me checking my bags online, it was $80 RT. They don't waive the fee for military either."

Prior to the second trip.I told myself I was going to let bygones be bygones since the trip was affordable I thought they want to charge you for everything they even tried to charge me for my backpack that is standard $100 not given the fact that I have been flying with that same. backpack with every Airline my money and my time will not be used up and bamboozled by spirit airline...Flight number flight number NK 215 9 p.m. leaving out of Philadelphia arriving in Dallas Fort Worth at 11:46 January 21st 2016 the worst experience in my life with flying the friendly skies..."

Finally managed to get on a late United flight and wound up paying an extra $300. I will never fly spirit again - too unreliable"
Cons: "I've been using Kayak since the first couple yrs the site was live. I've built up a lot of trust for Kayak over time and have recommended to a lot of friends in multiple countries. Recently, I purchased a ticket on Spirit through Kayak and had something happen that have never happened to me. I arrived at the airport and was charged an additional $112 for a carry on and 1 checked bag. I realize now that this is a Spirit policy, but not only will I never fly that shitty airline again, I will be extremely hesitant to use Kayak for my travel needs. I trust that Kayak clearly states all policies that should be a concern to its users and I have always believed in the prices that you displayed. This is obviously not the case and by working with an airline like this, it ultimately discredits a once reputable site like Kayak. All those yrs of building trust and just one trip puts it all back at zero and opens up opportunity for your competition. Bad business moves and partnerships will lead to more of this. Cons: "The lights were on bright 80% of the flight. This is a flight that departed after 9pm and was 3 1/2 hours!! They had the bright lights on in the cabin. When I asked why they said they needed to be on to charge the floor level lighting. What kind of plane is this! I have never experienced anything like this before!"
