Boarding was a breeze. I like that they offered to check carry-ons. Considering we already had checked luggage it just made things that much easier. Drink options were good. I especially liked the bloody Mary mix with the lime packet. That was so delicious! Used to traveling other airlines where they have individual screens for each seat. Alaska does it different and you have to have your own device in order to access their media content.

Flight attendant in first class could be more friendly .. she looked annoyed throughout the flight and didn’t seem like she wanted to be. Need work in the customer service department. Same for my outbound flight. Otherwise the flight was on time and got to where I needed to go.

Cons: "So, this plane was a Virgin America aircraft taken over by Alaska since the merger. My fiance and I were on a red eye non-stop to Philly from LAX. That said, the plane was in terrible condition. The seat back in front of my seat was broken and hanging down on my knees, there was no opportunity for entertainment unless you brought your own plug in headphones (none on the plane to use or purchase), we purchased upgraded seats and when we checked in the night before were told they were not available and we would be in economy (still waiting for that $200 refund 7 days later), the arm rest between our seats was broken and would not stay up, the headrest of my seat was broken and there was exposed metal, and when we purchased champagne to celebrate our vacation it was warm. One other item I noticed was the woman across the aisle's seat would not sit upright. She was asked to move to another seat for both take off and landing. Not sure if this was a Virgin America crew of Alaska, but terribly disappointed iin the crews lack of care and would not fly them again across country if this is what is to be expected."

That same flight attendant was sitting in a first class seat scrolling through her phone again, she did look up to thank us though. Then the front desk staff could only help to switch to row 12 and row 13. We’re still not together. That’s horrible. Then when we got on the plane, I asked people around if they don’t mind to switch their seats, but still not working well. The flight attendants didn’t help at all. Just saying, “this is the best we can do.” What did they do? They didn’t even help me to work it out. Then one of the front desk staff came onto the plane and help me out. My son and I finally sit together. But the overall experience sucks! Alaska Airlines needs to train their crew to have more emphatic to the passengers."

We were told we had to wait in line to speak with someone to print a boarding pass. There was an extremely long line with only two employees helping. We then asked if we could get our money back being that if someone has specially helped us with our case only being 5 minutes late to check in, but they declined. We had to book an entirely different flight and still have not gotten our money back. It was very stressful and unprofessional and had someone actually helped us, we would’ve arrived at our destination at the proper time we worked so hard for. I know my boyfriend and I weren’t the only people with his problem because two other families ran into the exact same avoidable problem. It felt very unprofessional. It ruined a familys vacation and caused the poor children to cry because of the lack of accommodation. We would love our money back but not sure you guys will even do so. Very disappointing."
Cons: "I didn't make it because the flight to LAX was late and despite being told by an Avianca employee there was a later flight from LAX to PDX (at 11:45 on AlaskaAir) which I would be put on, once I arrived I was told I was on a 6 AM on Delta with no arrangement to get me a hotel or anything. I bought a separate ticket on that 11:45 flight on Alaska Air to PDX instead. Extremely unhappy with this service and will never again use it. I will also tell everyone in my social circles, in person and online, to stop using it."
Pros: "Flying Alaska airlines is always something I have a bittersweet relationship. I love almost everything that Alaska does to improve their airline. Their wifi is some of the best in the US and its very affordable. Their "picnic box" snacks are awesome and unique, better than what you will find elsewhere, they have USB and full AC outlets at every seat, and their rewards program is the best in the business. By all accounts, AlaskaAir would be my favorite airline out there. But the staff that Alaska hires is just so terrible. Everytime I fly with them, they have simply the worst staff. Pair this with some of the best features of any airline and it leaves me scratching my head on whether or not I want to fly with them or to fly with an airline like Delta which might have fewer frills, but offers much better staff to help you."

Pros: "Alaska Airlines continues to do it rite! To my surprise, while checking in my 60 lb bag of surfboards, I was only charged $25, not the already low price of $75 I am usually charged. This new discounted price enabled me to save $100 round trip on board charges. Unlike other airlines that charge $100 Per surfboard, Alaska Airlines has implemented a program that serves the sports enthusiasts. From surfers, golfers, hunters, fisherman, and so on. Our gear goes with us for a fantastic price. Also, the food is actually pretty tasty too & the flight attendants treat you well."
Pros: "Found the crew to be friendly and relaxed. The plane was fairly new. Overall, it went fine as long as you understood it was going to be simple offerings."
Cons: "Apparent aggressiveness to get as many carry on bags paid for by the ground staff measuring with a measuring tape all bags. I've never seen anything like it. My bag was fine. Then, when they started to take fees you had to come back and pay. It wasn't done right then. The ground staff was minimally helpful. Flight amenities or not, pay for headset and having more than 2 TV shows and 2 movies cost you an up charge even on an overseas flight. One choice for dinner.- pasta so it was vegetarian. Breakfast was a sad roll, one small piece of cheese and ham, and fruit that was that questionable. Overnight flight, pillow no blanket in Economy. Seats hard and leg room was tight. Their Economy plus and business looked a much better way to go."

There was confusion with the staff once we were on the plane and someone got off and another person, looked like a pilot, sat in the back with us. It was a bit nerve racking not knowing what was going on while sitting there ready for take off."
Cons: "The website wouldn't complete online check in so I arrived early (0415 for a 0600 flight). The kiosks were mobbed and several were not functioning. Only one poor staff member was there to assist literally hundreds of irate passengers. The line for check in at the desk with live assistants was also several hundred people long. I finally got my boarding pass and bag tags at 0517. Then the bag drop off was broken. One poor staff member with an I pad was trying to scan all the checked luggage. I was directed to leave my bags against a wall and hope that they would make my final destination. Obviously people were anticipating not having luggage at their destinations and were opening bags to remove a few items of clothing. I finally got to the tsa check point at 0533 and begged my way to the head of the line (thank god for global entry and tsa precheck! And a thank you to all the people at lax that let me jump the queue) The flight itself was lovely. I slept until landing. Alaska airlines, please hire more staff."

The flight attendants should have announced for people to stay seated upon landing to let those few get through that had only a few minutes to make the next flight, but they did not so it took 15-20 minutes to disembark which was very frustrating."

Pros: "This was our first time using Alaska Airlines and they were great! Checking in online was easy. Flight attendants and other staff were friendly and seemed to have your best interest in mind. My husband and I had a 20 hour layover in LA coming back from Costa Rica and we asked if we would have to pay another fee to recheck our bag for the second flight. They were very understanding and waived the fee since our overnight stay in LA was technically a layover and we had previously made the whole reservation for both flights at once using their company. Overall we liked our experience with Alaska and would definitely use them again!"

After we left the gate, we were told that our pilots had timed out and we would need to return to the gate to get a new crew. We taxied for a long time back to the gate, then there were further delays while they added the gas they had used in taxiing. In the end, we arrived more than 2 hours late. It is hard to understand why they didn't anticipate this and replace our pilots before we left the gate. This was the return part of a round trip ticket; there was also a more than 2 hour delay on our earlier flight due to mechanical difficulties."

By far, the best airline ive flown upon was alaska. customer service was so friendly from start to finish, the employee who checked in our luggage (who was incredibly professional with an very frustrated guest behind me in line, while managing to not alienate my wife and i), ro the flight attendants who were prompt, responsive, and efficient in hydrating the passengers. My wife is uncomfortable with flying, and their demeanor with every aspect of their work made her feel safer and, at least, a little bit more relaxed. Thank you."

He could have saved all of us and including himself lots of frustration if he had just made an announcement regarding the boarding process with directions when he was about to start boarding. Everyone was left without clear directions. Big let down to start my experience with Alaskan airlines."

But Alaska had me pay 25$ handling for each checked bag ( I had two) which amounted to 200,oo for all the flights I took, 2 hotels I reserved thru them, and travel insurance I took thru. Them flight times were not the most convienient, but I expected that due to costs. Except for BWI wheelchair service was excellent and timely. I let Alaska know, they have not responded. On my last flight I was not charged handling for bags since I had printed out tags before coming to the airport. If I had known, I would have done that for all flights but since we needed to go to service desk for wheelchair arrangements, I did not."

We couldn’t check-in online. Even though it was booked through American Airlines, none of my AA benefits carried over. The Wi-Fi and entertainment didn’t work the entire flight. The flight crew said something about a voucher but I didn’t hear anything else about it.

Annoying that every short flight is delayed over 40 minutes consistently . Why am i taking a 1 hour flight when it becomes two hours plus airport and uber time? Maybe we should all just drive??

Just a week prior, my JetBlue flight was scheduled on time and then three things delayed thre flight for three hours right before we took off and now this! I was told it was due to needing to replace a crew member from another delayed flight. How can that affect so many people? The seat was also super uncomfortable and the back of the cushion was rolling forward, which made it hard to sit for that long. we also didn’t have a gate when we landed so that added on an extra 30minutes. Really disappointed."

I tried pausing the movie I was watching and it forewarned the movie. I tried to find the spot I was at but while pausing (announcements during the trip) it kept forwarding so I have up on that movie. Minor annoyance."

Cons: "The fact that I was 3 minutes late to check my bag (due to a line and walking to the wrong counter the first time) and they would not allow me to go on my original flight and route my bag on another flight. This resulted in me and my bag getting pushed on two new flights and my overall travel time going from 4.5 hrs to 11 hrs which with a 15 month old is an eternity. Many other airlines will allow you to make exceptions when checking in late (I was still nearly 40 minutes prior to flight departure) and let me still check a bag OR allow me and my baby to stay on the same flight without the bag."

Pros: "I LOVED the comfort of the ample seating space and leg room, compared to American and free WiFi and movies with the individual monitors on the seat backs for every passenger. I flew Jet Blue on my return flight from LA to Boston to attend our son’s USC graduation. The flight from Boston to LA was on an American Airlines flight. The seats were super narrow with very cramped leg room. To add insult to discomfort , I learned just after take off on the American flight to LA that our dogs got loose at home and the person caring for them was frantic. I had to purchase in flight WIFI ($16/ hour $18 for the entire flight) to attend to the Lost dog issue (hugely stressful) only to learn after the flight that $300 worth of fraudulent charges occurred during the flight that my bank’s fraud department claims occurred as a result of entering my card information to purchase the internet access. That depleted the majority of our travel budget. (We live paycheck to paycheck and had pinched & saved to be able attend this special event) I was so apprehensive on the returning flight and can’t describe my relief to learn the WIFI was free. My fears dissolved as did my aching head and back as I settled into a wonderfully comfortable seat with far more leg room than my prior flight. Thanks Key Blue! You have a fan for life!!"

I waited at the service desk for 20 minutes before the same man I originally talked to came over to help only after a very long line of people accumulated. Only two people were working and the customer service was very poor."

Cons: "First, the pre-boarding announcements were very difficult to hear and understand. The attendant spoke way too fast so that combined with the lack of clarity of the speakers made it almost impossible to understand what was being said. I have a hearing impairment so I need my husband to tell me but he too had trouble understanding the announcements. This was somewhat true during the announcements on the plane also, but less of a problem there. Let's face it, the audio systems really make things sound garbled so it is very important to speak clearly and slowly enough. I don't know how I could travel alone."

There was an enormous line at LAX trying to check in and check bags. Fortunately the staff were accommodating and allowed us to check our bags even after the deadline had passed -- but it was definitely an extremely stressful experience!

We flew First Class to LA from Denver on the Delta-branded contract airline - Sky West. On the way back, we flew First Class on a Delta Airlines owned jet, and the experience was so much better. The flights should have been comparable; but unfortunately cost-cutting by Sky West was evident.

The terminal on my ticket was different than the gate number. We went through security and had to take a 15 min shuttle to a different terminal. Why not just go through security there? There were also no attendants at the gate to discuss seat assignments. My husband and I didn’t have seats together. Try on board crew was great, but the airport experience was lacking.

They had passengers distanced from each other the whole time, handed out sanitizing wipes as we walked on the plane, made sure folks kept their masks on, gave us individual little baggies with snacks and water bottles that also had individual hand sanitizer packets. I felt so much more safe flying Delta on my way home to Hawaii in July than I did when I flew American Airlines on my way to the mainland in June."

I followed the baggage allowance explained on kayak website and on Aerolineas Argentinas. I took a bicycle which is free and i pay $100 to packed it as Aerolineas wanted. When I arrived it was a Delta flight and they told they don't allow bicycles and that i had to play $150. Aerolineas website and kayak clearly says that bicycles were free on my flight. I show the agent my ticket and that no where it said delta to consider what he was saying since it is an alliance but i was not informed about it. He said no and after wait there for a while before boarding i kindly ask to speak with a supervisor and the denied it and disappeared. I request a refund of my fee to you for providing incorrect information."

Cons: "LAX security is awful. We never left the airport (arrived LAX from Sydney AU) yet were forced thru security again. Had to remove shoes, was scanned and "frisked" by TSA to get to Denver. To go to Australia, Denver TSA waived the removal of shoes, skipped the scan for the metal detector and no one touched me, ditto for LAX on the trip to Sydney. Where's the uniformity or standards for TSA?? Why did I have to be subjected to this garbage on the way home?? This is why I despise flying. It makes no sense to me. This ruined what was a great vacation."

Pros: "The flight was nearly full, but I lucked out. One person in my row did not show up, so myself and the other lady in my row had the benefit of having an open seat in between us. The crew was cheerful and accommodating. They did the normal beverage service, but also brought complimentary water and coffee 3x during the rest of the flight. This was greatly appreciated, especially after 5 days of drinking and partying. My buddies and I spent two and a half days in Las Vegas for a bachelor party followed by two days in the LA area for a wedding (yes we did it Hangover style) :) Thank you Delta!"
Cons: "My only complaint was that the flight was delayed out of LAX by about 30 minutes due to the flight in-bound being delayed. However, the captain made up most of this time in the air so it ended up being a non-issue."

The electric outlets at each of our first class seats were not functional, both the USB ports and the electric plugs did not work so we were not able to charge our phones during the flight. When I mentioned this to the flight attendant her response was that she had not received a report that the electric was not working. No other assistance was offered. There was very little legroom even though these were sold as first class seats. The plane was old and dirty, the armrests were sticky."

Pros: "Had to cross terminals and the pathway was closed due to an international flight landing (poor planning on LAX part) so had to exit and reenter terminal through TSA. Flight delayed an hour then cancelled due to control panel failure. 10pm flight became 12am bus (and originally told it was 11.15pm bus which was "stuck in traffic" when google map traffic was all green). Got back to SD 4 hours after scheduled time."
Cons: "My registered luggage was sent LAX->MDE and i had a short change in MEX. Running out of the LAX->MEX plane, the crew the said: "don't forget to pick up your luggage".. and then all went pairshaped. One member of MEX staff claimed the baggage is going directly to destination, another said that it won't and i need to pick it up myself and do god knows what with it. LAX->MEX flight delayed by 30mins, 1hr change time. Everybody relaxed just me loosing all my boozy contraband as i had no choice but to put my registered luggage thru security."

Cons: "This was an almost 6 hour long flight, LAX to OGG. The aircraft was older and for a 6 hour flight, they really should use a bigger and newer aircraft. The entertainment systems on the back of the seat worked sporadically and the PA system was too loud and every time the PA system was used while we had our headsets on, it was excruciating We had no warning in order to remove our headsets before it blasted into our ears. We were amazed that after paying a considerable sum for our tickets and being in the air for 6 hours, there was limited meal service and we were required to purchase a sandwich in order to eat. I fly Delta frequently and this was by far the worse flight I can remember."
Cons: "To be clear, I do not have an issue with overweight people. That being said, I was put in an extremely uncomforatable position on this flight. My seatmate was a woman who easily weighed 400 pounds without the slightest exageration and was 5'7 at best. She carried all of her weight in her midsection and behind, which was truly uncomforatable for us both. As she attempted to squeeze into the aisle seat it became apparent that with the armrest down it was not going to happen. She raised the armrest and finally maneuvered into her seat and part of mine also. Not only was her bottom in my seat but her stomach was resting on my entire right leg. It felt like a toddler was sitting on my lap. This was beyond uncomfortable and embarrassing for us both as it was clear that she knew how intrusive this was and kept apologizing. My leg went to sleep after about 15 minutes so I asked to be let out. I approached the flight attendent and requested that my seat be changed to which she responded that the flight was full. I know it wasn't because I could see an empty seat about four rows in front of me. Finally I sat back down but every 15 minutes or so she would get uncomforatable and get up to stretch. The first time it was a welcomed break, until she came back and flopped in her seat with so much force that it felt like someone had ran and jumped in my lap. This occurred 4 or 5 times during the flight. I am not sure what the policy is for obese passengers, but it should be relooked. As a passenger I should not be put in a position to address another passengers weight. I also should not have to pay for a seat and only get to use 2/3 of it. Lastly, no one should ever be allowed to put their body parts on top of another persons lap and that be considered ok."

A pleasant flight overall with my first impression being an airline with current popular music playing in the background and flight attendants cheerful. Since I was traveling alone, I opted to not purchase my seat prior to my flight date, instead I chose my aisle seat within 24 hours for free. I checked in my one bag and found out I had pre-checked so my security check went so smooth at the new terminal 2 at LAX. Looking forward to my flight back on June 15."
Cons: "Had a toddler behind me crying and screaming the last 40 minutes of landing into Heathrow because she couldn't sit on her mother's lap and made it quite unbareable for all of us in the vicinity. Wondering if there was an alternative way to handle the situation."

She had about half of the First Class cabin offended as soon as meals started getting served - I didn't see ANYONE around me that got what they asked for, and then when people stated the issue, she didn't respond very well. I tried to take things in stride (first world problems?) but it is a bummer to pay extra for the first class treatment and then to not have that great experience, especially on back to back 5ish hour flights."

Cons: "While my experience with Virgin Australia was good, I will not book with them due to the co-share with Delta Airlines. I missed my connecting flight from LAX to JFK due to additional security screening. As such I was advised to head to the Delta terminal to be booked onto the next available flight to NYC. After waiting over an hour in line to be seen by a staff member, I was told that they couldn't change my ticket as it was a Virgin flight. The same staff member didn't seem to even understand the concept of 'co-share', and also told me that because I booked through Kayak and not Delta that they could not help me. This makes me think that booking through a third party is a risky move. I was told there was absolutely nothing she could do, and that I would have go to a Virgin Australia Counter. This involved taking all of my luggage from Terminal 5 - all the way to Terminal 3. I was assisted by Virgin Australia, where they apologized for my experience, and confirmed that it was Delta's responsibility (and that they were capable) of rebooking my flight. Virgin booked me onto a later flight, but I still had to walk back to Terminal 5 (Delta) to give them my checked luggage. I was once again told that I didn't have the right ticket (details listed Virgin and Delta flight number - so this was way too confusing for them). Finally they printed my a boarding card and took my bags. I then ran through security and to gate in time for my flight. Flight was fully booked, due to a many people no doubt experiencing the same thing. Food was awful. Was a big step down from the Virgin flight in every aspect. There was not a single Delta Staff member who would even try to understand or be helpful. I will never fly with Delta again."

Cons: "Firstly check in was a nightmare, travelling on a Virgin Australia Flight from LAX - BNE and a connecting flight BNE - PPP (Proserpine) all with Virgin Australia, and they claim they don't have the ability to tag your luggage the whole way through??? (I understand I have to collect it on arrival into another country and then take to a bag drop) but with the same airline they claim they can't do this? I travel a lot and with many other flights internationally and I can tag my bags with different airlines all the way through, but NOT WITH VIRGIN WITH THE SAME AIRLINE ALL THE WAY THROUGH? They can't do it? Then 2 hour delay on the tarmac after taxiing out from the gate at LAX, which got us in late to Brisbane. The food on this leg LAX-BNE for the vegetarian option was terrible, which was strange as on the fist flight over from BNE-LAX it was the best vegetarian food on any flight I've ever had. Strangely 6 months out from our flight I tried calling Delta to upgrade our tickets and was told they had no way of doing it as the Delta computer system isn't linked Virgin system. Then calling Virgin to upgrade I was told I can't as it is a Delta ticker. We tried again a week out from the flight and got the same response and told to try at check-in. We tried then at check in and told they have no idea how to do this as only so many seats are allocated to Delta tickets and they can't access the Delta system?? So very frustrating and we could never upgrade?"
Pros: "On my last 4 trips in 6 mos I've flown United, Delta, and Hawaiian, to Cancun Mexico on United Aug 2015' , to Puerto Vallarta on Delta December 2015, Hawaiian to Honolulu December 2015, and Again on Delta to Honolulu Feb 2015. I was told if a passenger did not fly both ends of a round trip flight, we would need to pay a $50 cancellation fee for the privilege of not using the ticket we had already paid for. This is also the first airline I have flown that charges for carry ons and also charges for seat assignments during online checkin! That's right, I could have paid an extra $6 to select a middle seat in the back of the airplane! Except the online checkin system kept crashing so I never checked in online anyways. And finally the food options were horrible, the worst I have ever seen. I was really hungry, so I bought one of their snack packs (after the person at the counter assured me there would be sandwiches), and the snack pack was disgusting, even by airplane food standards. I'd prefer flying Spirit Air - at least they are up front about nickel-and-diming their customers. I'll do my best to avoid flying sun country again."

Long story short I bought and American airlines flight home I’ll never fly with them again... I’ll spread the word amongst my community."

When I go back from my seat to take it the personnel did not allow me and instead of telling me the reason with easy English (I still cannot understand spoken English well), he talked to another personnel who might be at the place where the carry on's were. Never have I been stared down by a flight crew of white folks more in my entire life. It's a little disappointing, as this was a flight back to my home town after years of being away..and Sun Country is based there. You can feel and see the aggressive body language coming at you, so I just ignore till then point It's chrystal clear, then allm of a sudden...the body language becomes self consciousness when they realize...i am here for flight, whatever other agenda you may have has nothing to do with me and won't get my attention. You need more people of color working you flights in and out of the Midwest. There's a certain sensitivity that comes with that. Disappointed, but not surprised."

I WAS AT THE AIRPORT ONE HOUR BEFORE MY FLIGHT. I HAD TO TAKE ANOTHER FLIGHT TO SAN FRANCISCO THAN PAY $300 FOR A FLIGHT BACK TO LOS ANGELES. Once the bags took 30 minutes to get to the carousel, the other time staff gave wrong carousel and several passengers sat waiting. Rude flight attendants have no desire to actually serve on-board. The entire plane smells like the McDonald's dumpster that they fish their "Cheeseburgers" out of. Nothing good to say about the entire experience and I will never fly them again. Word of advice to all flight attendants working for Sun Country: Fly somewhere as a PASSENGER on Delta and see how it's done. Take notes.....lots of them."

First to board are for those with special needs requiring more time (families with kids, etc.), then the first class passengers, then those without carry-on, or who are willing to leave their carry-on as gate check, then for the first 10 rows, and then the back rows, and then everyone else. This seems to work fairly well since it minimizes jams associated with front row seating first, as well as seating those who have large carry-ons."
Cons: "The only thing is that they should emphasize more that those who board first because they do not have carry-on, but just personal bags, should place those personal bags under the seat rather than use that to board first and then take up valuable space in the overhead compartment. I saw people board first claiming only personal bags, and then they would deposit their bags towards the front in overhead compartments, or they would just put their bags sideways in the overhead--taking up twice as much space as carryon bags going in lengthwise."

I think the flight attendant and first class was terrific, but whoever had to work in coach where I say didn’t seem happy about it, extremely mediocre service, not friendly, just putting 1 foot in front of the other. Just seemed “over it.”

Cons: "American isn’t my preferred airline for obvious reasons (delays, notoriously bad service, old planes, and a lack of amenities like WiFi and tv’s), but now I’ll never spend my money with them again. They took me off an already delayed flight after I’d already boarded to examine my smart bag. I know that lithium batteries can’t be taken in the underbelly of the plane and I knew my bag would likely be checked at the gate (why I removed the battery and left it at home in the first place). When they asked me if I had a lithium battery in my bag I said “no.” They then gate checked the bag and allowed me on the plane. After everyone had been boarded (half an hour after we’d been scheduled to take off) they then called my name out on the speaker. I had to then de-board the plane and re-explain to staff that there was no lithium battery in my bag. The staff didn’t believe me citing the infallible logic: “there are ports so there’s a battery.” I told them again and again that the battery had been removed and the charging ports—while there—were inert as they weren’t attached to the battery. STILL, I had to remove all of my clothes from the bag, and open every single compartment (of which there were many) for them to allow me to get back onto the plane. They were telling me that they might have to “rebook the flight” if my bag couldn’t get on. I don’t think I need to explain how agitated/terrified that made me."
