I never received an apology from anyone I encountered throughout the process, and some personnel were rude even though I was polite."

After waiting 10 minutes I️ went upstairs and found a chaotic mass of people checking in at the actual open kiosk. The check in process was not clearly defined and even after spending 30 minutes checking a bag I️ still had to care my checked bag down to another TSA check line. In their boarding area there were minimal phone chargers. The plane was small and no leg room and a rigid uncomfortable seat. Also the flight was at night and they kept the cabin lights on. That was super frustrating to an exhausted traveler who was trying to sleep."

Cons: "My wife and I traveled with bicycles packed in standard boxes and got hit with a whopping $230 charge per bicycle out of the blue. We were expecting no charge because the bicycles were our only check-in baggage for the trip. Couldn't believe the lack of transparency with which we got hit with this charge. Qantas, Air New Zealand, and other airlines we've taken bikes with us on our flights have charged nothing when we traveled in the same fashion. So, if you are a bicyclist traveling with your bicycle, I'd avoid the United-Lufthansa duo."

Cons: "The negative experiences started before we got on the plane. Boarding began slightly behind schedule and was very disorganized. People were all standing in the boarding area and out into the walkway for the concourse. I feel it would be better to have boarding groups come up individually or two at a time. (While group one boards, group two convenes. Once group one has boarded, invite group three to take their place.) Once group three had boarded, an announcement was made that there was no overhead bin space availble for the entirety of group 4. It seems a bit ridiculous that nearly half the plane wouldn’t have overhead space. It took awhile to board group 4 as everyone had luggage to check and once we finally got down the jetway, we had to wait another few minutes before being able to get to our seats as the flight attendant for first class insisted on taking drink orders while she stood in the aisle. I understand this is a perk of first class but I feel it could be better executed. These seats are boarded in group one so to have drink orders incomplete by the time group four is trying to board is irritating at best and incompetent at worst. Once finally at our seats, it became apparent that the announcement about lack of overhead bin space had been made a bit early. The bins were on the full side but they definitely had space available. Also, much of the space had been taken up by jackets and bags that would have fit under the seats; which I felt could have prevented nearly all of the checked bags. The flight was uneventful with minor annoyances like having to pay for entertainment and any sort of food. Even southwest provides entertainment free of charge and I consider them to be more of a budget airline. If I fly Lufthansa again, I will not take a domestic flight through United and will instead book via southwest to and from the international airport Lufthansa flies out of."

Butter chicken or vegetable options. Food was bland and very small portions for the length of flight. The snack was delivered immediately after dinner was picked up. I did not open it. Looked like a hard roll with something on it. Style of service is abrupt, bordering on rude. Uses terminology that non-US travelers from different cultures would not understand, for instance do you want "white" coffee. Asked me if I had someone at home to pick up after me as she felt she was cleaning too much off the floor. Her comments appeared to be directed at me but it was not my trash (and even if it was, a better approach would be recommended). The flight attendant realized she had gone too far and apologized. Then complained about this "route" being difficult, with no one listening. She concluded by wishing me a good flight and saying that she hoped that she had not offended me. I assured her that she had. Breakfast was mediocre. Egg with soggy potatoes and an inedible sausage. Did not see what they were offering in the veggie dish. Staff seems tired and not culturally sensitive. There needs to be some retraining and consideration given to long haul menus and entertainment. I take this flight at least once a year. It continues to deteriorate."

Not something one expects. She was also terse with passengers, ordering them in an annoyed tone."

I hated the entire trip. I was cramped up and extremely uncomfortable. This is simply unacceptable to have this happen because huge people can't fit in one seat. I want these obese people to be required to purchase 2 seats because they take mine."

Cons: "United service was uniformly poor. When we checked in at Dulles Airport, we had to go to two different counters to send our luggage. The United check-in / baggage attendant determined that two of my bags were 'oversized.' I have travelled dozens of times with these same bags, including on this trip, and none of the airport determined the bags to be oversized. The United seats, which we had purchased as "Premium Economy" from the Lufthansa site were "Economy Plus" and not worth the extra $ 275 per seat. The United plane was not well-maintained and had several obvious defects. If United wants "Star AlliNCE" to mean something, they need to do as well as Lufthansa."

Pros: "The stewards were nice and they were prompt. The plane seemed to be well cleaned inside and they were quick to get everyone boarded and bags stowed underneath. The pilot knew what he was doing and I had no worries there. Everyone was doing their jobs as well as they could be done."
Cons: "The air nozzle above my seat was broken and would not turn off so I freezing the entire flight, as well as the tray table seeming like it was meant for the lap of an infant versus myself and I can't imagine how someone with longer legs than myself dealt with the way it folded down. The take off was rough either seemingly due to tires or perhaps a rough runway. The wifi on the plane would not work. It worked ok my first flight but not on the second. I don't know why and no one knew why either, had the latest app and it was updated to the current version."

Cons: "Flight UA 6270 was initially delayed due to incoming plane delayed for weather. After boarding 2 planes at IAD, we were told after 5 + hrs that the flight to JAX was cancelled. UA Customer Service Agent was slow and not well trained. Other passengers were easily and promptly placed on other flights (UA & other airlines)...we were told that the next available UA flight from IAD to JAX was more than 24 hrs wait. Eventually placed on a UA Flt to CLT at 11 PM. Upon arrival in CLT, we asked the gate Agent for assistance on a Voucher because we had to stay overnight in CLT...we were told that the IAD Agent did not designate us as eligible for a voucher and yet, people next to us flying coach were given a voucher. The Gentleman Agent at our arrival gate was trying to help us but his Madam Supervisor was arrogant and unwilling to help. In an exasperated tone, I asked both individuals if flying First Class would help us get a voucher and her arrogant answer was "do you want me to call the police?" Obviously we left for our Marriott Hotel which was a wonderful customer service experience. Plus our UA Flt from IAD to CLT placed us in Coach (is a refund coming???) We paid for 1st Class for our 12/22 flight and our 12/26 flight. After 3 hrs in a Marriott in CLT we took an AA Flt from CLT to JAX. Also, the UA communication on the status of our baggage was unclear and misleading. Plan to fly American or Delta for future travel."
Pros: "Boarding was fast and easy. Crew was kind to allow me to use an empty seat in the middle row and get more space. Managed to connect to onboard entertainment with a tablet and avoided to use the tiny screen that still exists on United's 767s."

Multiple delays no communication finally arrived at destination and there was no open gate late at night. Had to remove a plane, that took an additional 20 minutes. Our arrival should not have been a surprise. There should have anticipated people would want to get off the plane.

They nickel and dime you for everything even $10 to print boarding pass. Initial price on Kayak was lower than everyone else, but with all the add ons turned out to be much more expensive. Not allowed to bring tennis racquets on board, have to check them. Jet Blue allows them to be carried on board. Will NEVER fly this airline again."

The flight attendants could at least give the pretense of being happy. Some are downright crusty. The Spirit Airlines website is a mess. I didn't pay ahead of time for a seat reservation and when checking the day before the flight, I was randomly assigned one near the back of the plane. At that time, it was showing that all other seats were reserved. I then added a carry-on piece of luggage and paid for it online. Then when I printed my boarding pass, I was assigned a different seat more near to the front. How was this other seat available when just before the site was showing that all other seats on the plane were reserved. The website is slow and it lacks transparency (honesty)."

Cons: "When we arrived, it seemed Spirit was understaffed. There was a long line at check-in, and no bag drop. The attendants seemed stressed, understandably. We were seated in the second to last row, in front of three unaccompanied minors. The flight attendants were doing their best to make sure the kids behaved, but they were incredibly disruptive. My wife and I agreed: unless Spirit has a deal that's too good to afford, we will not be flying with them again. What you may save initially, you pay for in quality of service, comfort, and convenience."

Cons: "I flew with my ESA. At Myrtle Beach through the check in to the flight, to take off the validity of my ESA was questioned. At check in my letter was passed around numerous time to see if it would suffice. It clearly stated why I needed my ESA. I was also asked in a very professional way if this was valid before one man gave the green light. I didn't feel comfortable disclosing details of my reason for my ESA, or the fact that it was questioned in general. This was a first as my ESA has flown with me through many different airlines, and my condition, paperwork have never been questioned. In addition on the plane I was told my ESA could not be on my lap and had to be under the seat. What is the point of the ESA? Ultimately once in the air I kept my ESA on my lap. This was a point of contention as the attendant kept coming by and asking she be secure under my seat. Truly an awkward, uncomfortable experience."

Cons: "My flight was delayed by over three hours on Sunday traveling from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. Flight delays happen but there was zero communication from anyone at the airport let alone anyone at the customer service desk. They also changed our gate several times, which led people going back and forth completely confused and upset without anyone there to answer questions or help explain where we should be, etc. This was a terrible experience and I will not be flying Spirit again and will encourage friends and co-workers to do the same."

Cons: "A woman at the LAX (connection point) boarding area was so rude to the point where a supervisor got involved. I had a carry on with insulin(I'm type 1 diabetic) that she told me I had to check in. I politely asked her why since Philadelphia international did not give me any issues about it. I also told her that I'm type 1 diabetic and can die without it. She said "you're either checking this bag in or no one is boarding" and proceeded to put the security arm down. I spoke to a Supervisor, who told me it was completely fine. My 7 year old child and I finally boarded thanks to the supervisor. My advise to the wpmn is to stop and think why another reputable airport would have let someone through with the bag she's refusing to let in due to simple fact of size. This was not larger than a normal carry on. I understand that flights are often full and make these requests but certainly not in a humiliating way and ceerriamlg not after being told that it contains medicine that someone can die without."
Cons: "To start, I booked a hotel room close to the airport and upon my arrival at eight thirty in the evening I explained to the reception that I would need a shuttle at 5.15 in the morning..she then told me the shuttle didn't start till eight , so anyway I get a cab and arrive at 6 and as I approached the counter to get my boarding pass the lady blurted out with joy you're late and we have to rebook you. I said my flight was leaving at 6:30 she responded with a smile and pointed to a sight 45 minute before flight sight in required.. so a200 ticket ended up coating me double and I had to Waite in the airport 5 hours and go to Fort Lauderdale and wait there for another 4 hours.. I will never spend a dime on spirit again.. one bag 50 dollars , greedy,rudeness,just all around uglyou!!"

Then when everyone is hoarded to the ticket counter, there is no attendant to speak to at the front so you're left to guess which of the two lines to stand in - if it matters at all. Half an hour into waiting in line, a desk clerk announces that one line is for refund only and the other for rebooking only.... After waiting half hour in wrong lines. Where's the sign? Where's the courtesy? My JetBlue flight was a half hour late - they sent me a credit automatically. Spirit cancels your flight - and all flights after (so the next available flight was in THREE days) and they make you jump through hoops. NEVER AGAIN."

We wake up 5am to ge to the airport, while waiting for the cab I decided to check my email to find out the flight was cancelled due to "mechanical issues". Which means they didn't sell out the flight. The rep I called caught a lot of my animosity, which the issue wasn't her fault, but she remained professional to her credit. The next flight was the next morning already a day into my vacation. I declined cause I wasnt gonna be Charlie Brown to thier Lucy. She then closed out the phone call with the normal spill, "we appreciate your business, book online, we are always here for you etc." This further annoyed me. My vacation was ruined and you think I would ever give Spirit another shot at anything at all in my life."

Cons: "I arrived for my flight early and checked my two suitcases at $114 dollars. I proceeded to my gate an hour before boarding time to find that my flight was delayed 1hour and 45min. Thinking I had some time to use the lady's room and grab food I arrived back to my gate an hour and 40mins before take off to find that the plane was already boarded and the attendant would not let me on. They had reverted back to the original take off time because the plane showed up on time but did not call those who walked away from the gate. I missed my flight, I missed my check in time at school, my bags went without me and I was stuck in Philadelphia until my next flight today. I'm afraid my bags with everything I have are somewhere lost I in LA."

Only taking credit cards too. There are many older people on these flights that do not even have credit cards.... so they may not have water? Cheap flight!!??? nope, add everything together and with flight attendants that don't want to be there and a captain that let us sit on the tarmac for a good 15 minutes before thinking he should tell us what's going on. That was my first and it is my last Spirit flight! And i am telling everyone that i know not to fly Spirit. Some people I have told have stories of their own and said they won't fly Spirit ever again too."

Mr Ferraro who works for the TSA in Logan airport also went above and beyond, Mr Ferraro knew I was in a hurry, he thought I might forget my wallet, and when I took off running to catch my flight Mr Ferraro yelled Sir don't forget your wallet Awesome all the way around! 2 guys made my day and week! It was my brothers 20th wedding anniversary, and these 2 guys Ozzie and Mr. Ferraro truly provided heartfelt customer service that I will never forget! Thanks for being awesome!"

Having people pay for a boarding pass is utterly ridiculous. The website is terrible. The system would not allow me to pay the $80 for my 2 bags when I logged on from home. When I got to the airport, I was charged $100 for my 2 bags. The staff was not very friendly. You could tell they were used to people complaining. They were indifferent to any complaints. For all the aggravation and additional fees, I really wish I had paid the extra to be on a different airline. It would have been cheaper and less aggravating."

Which they should mention loud and clear when purchasing online because at the airport, many people didn't know what was acceptable and they were at the terminal having to pay an extra 100 dollars for one little suitcase."

I understand the idea of 'low ticket prices' and 'less accommodations' but your company put us on an unbelievably small airplane treated us like herded animals. You are a business and are supposed to treat your clients like such. Completely unsatisfactory."
Cons: "When purchasing my flight with Spirit, I did it for the price- like most people who buy tickets with this airline. I knew I would be charged for my carry on bag, but did not think it would amount to $45.00. My biggest issue with them is that my flight was delayed 3 hours... every single time I fly this airline my flight is delayed. There were no weather issues at all, just always seems like Spirit can't get their act together. I would rather pay more (which I ended up doing by the extreme charge for a carry on bag anyway) for another airline then deal with delayed flights and lack of communication by Spirit airlines ever again."
