Great geographic location Fee parking for the car Fitting out of the hotel entry not indicated on website. Worse soundproofing of the room windows.
soft and comfirtable bed You have to pay for everything such as internet, phone calls, TV, etc. Service was poor. Prices are relatively much higher than other similar hotels.
good location, great comfortable beds and nice gym and sauna area
location There internet.
Nothing !!! Center of Amsterdam
Location and staff Internet services not included in package
hotel staff and clean the Spa
The hotel was pretty fine, clean and with good style. Very close to the center. The room was big enought for all family. We didn't got any breakfast at hotel, but during the boat cruise, the stop is very close to the hotel. Miss the boiler for have some tea in the room. The remote control of TV almost died.
very comfortable bed and soft sheets front door was not working so had to use side door
central position for visiting amsterdam Impersonal feeling with pseudo design furniture
close proximity to tourist destinations. Hotel was within walking distance of major tourist attractions.
Pretty good overall. Very nice cafe-restaurant in the same building. Outrageous internet fee and even worse service when you wnat to use hotel computers
Great location - couldn't be better!
Historical hotel. Excellent service. Bed and pillow were not comfortable.
hotel staffs are very helpful, the room is great, clean and comfortable. we booked double room, it's big! the location is great, easy to go to station or airport, we can catch the bus just in front of the hotel. nothing
Centraly located, tram stop, restaurants and shops straight outside the door
Very nice, staff was very helpful and professional.
The location is perfect and the American Bar is the ideal place to hang out for a few hours in the evening. I would like to see more variety on the food menu in the bar.
It is comfortably situated near public transport services and the city centre. Its value for money was less than poor. It boasted an incredibly expensive breakfast, admittedly including sparkling wine, which for my purpose of stay, however, was totally redundant. With the no more than fair comfort offered, the price ought to have included a humble breakfast as well as complimentary Internet access for hotel guests.
we enjoyed the service & stlye of the staff, the room was out of this world with the most comfortable bed & fantastic views from the balcony, the location was ideal for what we wanted & would recommend the hotel to anyone.
Fantastic position and quality of facilities Nothing
location + staff the bed wasnt comfortable
A truly spectacular property, beautifully fitted, with attentive, friendly but not overly intrusive staff. Amsterdam is a great place to visit; this hotel is almost reason enough on its own. I stayed there twice on the same trip. The first time we upgraded to a suite, and it was beautiful, really a place to relax in and feet at home. The second stay I was alone and had a regular room. It was tiny, but entirely functional. Both rooms were street facing with large windows. The bar is lovely, as well. Be sure to try one (or two or three) of their great gin and tonics. It is rather pricey, but you do get what you pay for.
amazing interior with best in class everything
The hotel has a trendy, designy look and staff seemed friendly enough. There's a neat garden in the back and a they have a cozy lounge with descent drinks. I had high hopes for this property upon arrival, but overall was let down. I had the hotel dry clean three silk items, all of which were ruined. It took me over a week to get them to resolve it and in the end, they only paid out 75% of the replacement cost. We were put in a disabled accessible room located right by the elevator (despite not requesting an accessible room). It was loud, the accessible shower allowed water to get all over the bathroom floor. The vanity outlet in the bathroom wouldn't work and it took them coming out two times to fix it, leaving me unable to do my hair both mornings we were there. Upon arrival, the woman who greeted us (and was apparently training) said that welcome drinks were complimentary for guests. When the man training her joined her to do our check-in in the lounge, he asked if we were in town for anything special. I mentioned it was for my husband's birthday weekend and he offered to "cover our drinks." This seemed odd given the woman had just told us they were complimentary. Not sure if he was being underhanded or if the woman training was just mistaken. The whole thing struck me as odd.
Location, price, excellent staff and wonderful building... This was the third time I have stayed at this hotel, and on both previous occasions I was allocated a much larger room than this time around... This time, the room we were given felt a little cramped, especially the bathroom. Also, the room contained only one mirror, inside one of the wardrobe doors, and there was only one bedside table. I will definately use the hotel again in the future for its excellent location, condition and helpful staff, but my fondness for the hotel has been slightly reduced because of the size of our room.
easy to access all areas of amsterdam ( very central location) No, everything was great, i enjoyed my stay and will book thier again when i return to Asterdam.
Location, freindliness of staff
The staff Lack of information ,should make clear what the hotel offers .ie. breakfast not included no smoking signs ,never saw in rooms but rooms was clean and nice.
This is the place to stay for visitors to Amsterdam. Great location near everything. Great restaurants and bars near by. One of the better coffee shops and smart shops just a minute away. Nothing.
The only concern, was the checking in it seem too long and you did have 3 staff on. However th ques for checking in was getting longer as the staff seem to take telephone calls when attending to people checking in.
The location is very good. The bathroom was really old.
2nd stay, had a bathtub this time ++ Central location. Clean. Cheap. We couldn't have a smoking room, even though we indicated a preference for one. The rooms all seemed to have been renovated with hard flooring which made adjacent rooms a lot more noisy.
Attention to detail, design, menu, service
Personalized friendly service, great location, excellent food and drinks, intimate ambience
staff service and dining room room 23 in attic: electrics very hard to de-cipher! In bathroom, design prevails over functionality eg mirrors: size/location (hopeless!). Try shaving...near impossible!
The hotel was lovely and the staff were extremely helpful. It was expensive but it worth it. If you are going to splurge then this is how it should be done. My room had a perfect view of the canal. I suppose some aspects of the room could have been a little cleaner but even still everything was great. They took good care of us.
I really like the decor @ public areas The standard double room that I stayed is not in a good condition, too dark and small for too many furnitures, wc was not fixed well, switches in room are not convenient and there has not sufficient lights in room particularly in bathroom, also the bath tub is too high.
It was a nicely designed hotel and the room was very stylish and comfortable. The shower leaked badly and was not fixed after we mentioned it. In addition, the room was impractical with insufficient space to put things away. Breakfast service was slow.
Excellent room, except the televisionset was seriously outdated and not in conformity with a 5 star small luxury hotel of the world status the terras, restaurant service of 2 of the employees was absolutely below standard with total disinterest. Questions asked during lunch service where either simply ingnored or responded too late
Ideal for couples, Quiet and secluded. Very attentive staff. No
Went shopping and to many, many museums. Loved the hotel! Not one complaint. The location was great, the rooms were great and the hotel staff was wonderful.
The atmosphere, the nice bed, the beautiful settings and the garden, the small cookies served in the lounge for you coffee I would prefer to know there was no door to the toilet before I ordered the room. The coffee at the breakfast could be "up graded" and put a toaster next to the bread, instead of asking the waiter to do it
The location was excellent for visiting the Museums and good selection of cafes and restaurants nearby. Canal boat trips right outside hotel entrance. The room was cramped and somewhat claustrophobic. The cost of the room was far too expensive for the size and no breakfast included.
Close te citycenter Bed en cushions to soft. Bad smell
MOMO I was not happy at all with the bed and I ended sleeping on the floor because the matress was really bad.I paid 160 € and I think the bed should be comfortable.I was not happy with the answer of your staff saying that the bed for standard rooms.I was that close to go down to the reception with the matress to show it to all.
From a tourist perspective the location of this hotel is very good indeed, it is just metres from the great galleries and Vondel Park, and close to Jordaan. The #197 trolley bus around the corner opposite the Van Gogh museum takes you to Schiphol in 30 minutes for 5 euro (pay as you get on), every 1/4 hour, and trams #2 and #5 take you to the main railway station. Despite being on the relatively busy Stadhoudekade street, the hotel is quiet. The rooms are clean, very comfortable, slightly but not overly cramped, idiosyncratic in design, with air conditioning that works. The staff are intelligently helpful, switched on, and very pleasant. I think that is a Dutch thing anyway. I took the 'with breakfast' option. I recommend it. All this comes in at about $210/night per room including taxes. There are plenty of cheaper places around but if you are in Amsterdam for a couple of days and want a faultless, quiet, reliable, central place to stay, this is a good candidate to consider, and worth the money if you have it. The only thing that I wasn't keen on was the Momo restaurant that is attached to the hotel. It is a Sushi only restaurant, so if Sushi is not what you want, too bad. We ate there one evening and while the Sushi itself was no doubt excellent, it was expensive for what it was - as in my opinion Sushi tends to be. If you like a rank of chefs attending minutely to each bite, and lots of pretty waitresses regularly asking if you need anything, or don't really mind about the cost, that's fine, enjoy it and pony up liberally at the end. Otherwise, don't come to this place too hungry, or with kids, this one is for the up-market purists. There are better places nearby, serving quality food of other types for quite a lot less.
The location is perfect. We recieved a warm welcome upon arrival, and was please try suprised at the accomodations. The bed was very comfortable, view perfect, and the room size would meet or exceed any standards. Literally the best location for a brief walk to vo delpark, museums, de hallen, red light district, and tram stops. There is no pool, but for us we didn't care. The lobby was warm, as is standard in most of holland, but rooms are well air conditioned.
Cleaning staff was nice. Water leaked from my ceiling onto me in the middle of the night. managenent was totally unhelpful.
Location and staff were great. Breakfast although pricey was huge! Very decent! Very clean and comfy bed. Room was modern although the "non-divided"/private bathroom may be an issue to non-couples. Some of the toiletries where empty.
- Proximity to Amsterdam's famous museums - Comfort of the bed - Size of the bathroom (we got a handicapped room) - Availability of luxurious toiletries - Clean, well-kept rooms - Friendly staff - DELICIOUS hot chocolate - Free, reliable wifi - Room itself was a little small - Cleaning staff arrived at 8am
Staff at reception and night porters were very helpful and friendly. The 'living room' area is well designed to be modern yet comfortable, the range of books available to look at was excellent. The location is excellent - Leidseplein is a stone's throw away and there are lots of really great places to eat. The Museums are also just around the corner, and tramlines are a 5 minute walk away. Sometimes we had to wait quite a while for our presence to be acknowledged and orders taken in the 'living room'. Also, a couple of times staff entered our room after hardly knocking or giving us time to reply! I think the rates are quite expensive when you consider that they do not include breakfast and the charge for web access is huge!
Next door to museums and across the street from canal, cruises and casino Very helpful and professional staff and excellent restaurant on site (MOMO). Clean, well appointed room of adequate size. Highly recommend Road traffic could be heard but not a significant negative
Location is great. Clean Standard rooms are a bit small but great for a couple. Staff is very professional. Concierge is great with recommendations
The reception area; the comfortable bed; the cleanliness and efficient heating of the room; the view (we were on the 5th floor); the location; the breakfast An occasional strange smell in the room; the fact that emptying the bath flooded the bathroom floor; the general blandness of the room (it could have been in any city centre hotel); the need to update furnichings and decor
The central location is perfect for Americans wanting to be close to the Leidessttraat shopping district, and is in the heart of the canal-ring district as well. Its proximity to the cafes and coffee-shops that made Amsterdam famous, the little restaurants, etc. is amazing... only one-half block from the famous Rokerij coffee-shop! It is three blocks from the Cafe American, at the American Hotel; it is three blocks the other direction from the heart of Amsterdam's designer district. In summary, the ideal location to experience Old Amsterdam. While room service and an amazing restaurant, as well as the bar being opened after its current renovation might have made the stay more pleasant, the low pricing would not have been possible.
Location is great and central - but also noisy Needs urgent renovation. Rooms somewhat filthy.
Perfect location. We shopped every day because it was too much easy to get hotel. Our room was a little bit cold so we ordered an extra blanket but it was dirty and smelling.
The Hotel was in a great location!! The hotel was clean and decorated nicely. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar wasn't open during our stay due to referbishment and we didn't have breakfast there so I can not comment on food. However i would go back to this hotel again and probably will next year.
Convenient, nice neighborhood setting with a congenial atmosphere nearby. The wireless was only available through T-Mobile and required a separate account. That wasn't clearly explained.
The location was perfect to tour the city and yet be out of the congestion of the Dam. Lots of restaurants, shops, public transportation and access to museums and art. The hotel bar was not open and under construction. It would have been nice to have an inhouse place to relax with a glass of wine.
Excellent breakfast Look and feel of room and hotel, just plain beautiful View from room Narrow bed Very load ventilator built in wall TV without teletext
Hotel is close to city square & walking distance to everywhere. Lots of shops & places to eat nearby. Our room had a canal view & had plenty of space. Beds looked kind of shabby but were comfortable & I slept well. We were not able to check in early but were able to leave our bags with front desk. We only spent one night after Viking River Cruise & did not eat at the restuarant. Staff was friendly. About a $50 ride from airport but this may be standard for most of Amsterdam since the airport seems out of the city a way.
The location is great if you want to be by the Leidseplein. The staff is friendly. The cost is low. The hotel was represented on Kayak as a four star, but this is a 2-3 star economy hotel. It is bare bones with little service and dated accommodations. At night you can hear everything from the street and the aged elevator was broken for the second half of our stay. Bags are kept in an open room off a hallway like a hostel, not secured and tagged.
Good location, great sized room, friendly and helpful staff. Whilst it didn't bother us too much, other people may find that the street noise is a bit much and goes on until quite late. The windows when closed do shut most of it out though. Obviously there isn't a great deal the hotel can do about this.
Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely room. Great location. Convenient, pleasant restaurant.
No bar, or comfortable lounge
Absurd! They advertise that there is a free WiFi in the lobby but in fact it is only for the first 20 minutes. On top of it, the bandwidth speed is additionally limited by their software to only 120kbps (about the speed of two dial-up telephone lines). They really made sure that they do not "overspend" on any bytes. Absurd! It felt as the whole hotel is incredibly stingy
Good location, we had a nice big room although asked for standard. Breakfast could be included or had a better price.
Great central location. I loved the mini-kitchen. The bathroom, however, lacked a full shower door so the bathroom floor was constantly wet after using the shower. The room was very spacious, especially for a European hotel. The carpet and bedding color schemes were horrible.
Location, staff very helpful and very friendly For the price I believe the breakfast should be included in the price ,
The hotel was very central and we were upgraded as we wanted a non-smoking room so it was very comfortable with a sofa - beds very good and nice duvets. Husband delighted to get BBC1 and 2 so he could watch the rugby and listen to the cricket highlights!
Overall we had a pleasant stay, due to short notice travel we paid $250 per night whic is way too much for this hotel. The location was very convenient, walk to most tourists attractions and a tourist restaurants. The bedding was clean. Due to the urin smell in the bathroom the hotel gave us breakfast vouchers. This hotel is rated at 4, it is 3 star at best. The interior itself is dated, you can tell they have tried improving it by panting and cleaning the carpets. It is obvious a remodel is in order to bring it up to 4 star standard. I believe most European hotel turn off the ability to run the AC in the winter. With the windows closed the room became rather stuffy, we slept with the window open on the 6th floor with ear plugs in since the partying went on till 4am. The toilet had a constant urin smell even after having the maid clean with bleach and leaving us an air freshener. Maintenance replaced the sink trap but still smelled. My wife called the front desk for a simple question and front desk clerk by the name of Alessio(male with a beard) was rude and condescending.
Sofa bed in room to accomodate young children
We like the service the room & central location
I stay in this hotel second time! I like absolutely everything. First time I stayed with husband in most expensive deluxe room. Now in standard. But both of room are perfect!
The location in a beautiful area of the city with good access to communication and travel links. The comfort of the accommodation and the most helpful and courteous staff.
Please write at least 15 words Professionalism of the staff and beautiful room No tea or coffee in the room and the room stayed quite cold
The room was very comfortable and lovely and clean. The hotel was very central to everything but in a lovely area.
The hotel was clean. The air conditioning did not cool the room well.
Nice hotel,excellent staff,good location!
Staff and easy availability of bicyles for our use.
Great location. Very good and helpful staff. Canal houses are well known to frequent visitors. First timers with mobility issues (not my problem) should ask for rooms wiht easy access.
Its location Yes. It took ages to walk from one side to the other and you had to do your ironing in a laundry roon close to the front desk as there weren't any irons available.
Staff were fantastic. The food/drink concept is very welcome and helpful in such an expensive city. Good showers. I would agree with some comments that the rooms are a bit plain. If the rooms had the detail and decor of the reception areas it would be excellent.
Extra little comforts like free coffee and snacks.Breakfast included which was excellent. Staff very efficient. Only that i prefer a bath to taking a shower. But the shower in the room was a good quality one.
Excellent location, very comfortable. The staff is very sharp, attentive and friendly. The breakfast is great as is the self-serve bar. I wish they had a gym, though they can send you to a local gym a couple of blocks that's quite reasonable.
Great cozy hotel in a great location. Free beer, wine and evening cheese and snacks is really great. I would recommend to anyone to stay there. The wifi was a bid slow at times but perfectly acceptable most of the time.
All-inclusive (mini bar, food and drinks at the lobby, breakfast)
It was central, comfortable, had a very nice breakfast and it's inclusive concept was brilliant.
The hotel has a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere - it's almost like staying at someone's home. You can sit by the fire with a glass of wine (included in the room rate) and read or relax. The breakfast is good, with an extensive buffet and hot dishes prepared to order. Because of the location, which is very central and excellent in most regards, taking a car to the hotel is not advisable as parking is hard to find and very expensive. I would recommend using public transport if possible - it is quite extensive and efficient in Amsterdam.
An excellent location with very friendly staff and comfortable accomodation. The free bar and snacks in the lounge area made it a very sociable hotel too. Nothing it was excellent all round.
1. helpful, friendly staff 2. complimentary snacks and beverages 3. location
All in price drinks snacks and beakfast
Central location within the city center. Hotel staff very friendly and efficient. Good breakfast. Good idea to have free access to coffee machine, drinks and snacks. However, for alcoholic beverages, we would have liked to have the option of paying for premium/better quality drinks. The room was very small and the "canal view" is of no real interest. No restaurant in the hotel so the choice for room service menu is very poor.
The location, the facility and room, and the staff. All was wonderful. I hope to go back. The hotel was busy and our room was upgraded to a superior room. It was very nice. It was too short!
Lovely area, lovely hotel in charming old buildings, however with modern conveniences, large bedroom, excellent, helpfull staff. Beautiful fresh flowers in the common areas and in the bedroom. Everything perfect...
Breakfast was very good with a nice selection of foods. The bed and pillow were very comfortable. I especially liked the good location to the museums and the friendly staff. Thank you for a nice stay. It was a little difficult to move easily between the bed and desk in room # 305.
Location near to the fashion and museum district. Quiet street the room was a little hot during the night
convenience to Amsterdam attractions Our room was a little small
they confused me with another guest and gave me key to his room
Friendly hotel staff and clean rooms. Good location. Small Room
location, services, cleanliness,
A very cozy boutique hotel in a great location with friendly staff. The shower was scary.
the hotel is walking distance from the museum area and the main shopping street the room was not insulated well, no double window so it was a little bit cold
The location is perfect - in a quiet but very central place. Free wifi in the room for no extra charge. The staff is helpful and efficient, without bothering you.
The rooms were small but well appointed. The staff was friendly. Best of all the location is away from the tourist craziness yet near many attractions and a great place to begin exploring on bicycle. The wine in the room was disappointing in quality and price.
Hotel is located in real centre of Amsterdam.
The location of the hotel is perfect. The hotel is redecorated / refurnished so it's like brand new! Corridors could need a little more light.
Good location and staff I ended up in some room I the back corner that looked nothing like the pictures, and the heat didn't work.
The shower was poor and the hair dryer was weak - it was being replaced on the day we left!
Poor shower pressure. It was a smoking room.
Friendliness and cleanlilness Lack of hot drink making facilities in the room
Convenient location No bar facilities
Most of the Staff were nice and cooperative, The Triple room was in good size by european standards. the location was good approx. 7 mins to Dam square. plenty of resturants and cafes in the surrounding area. In the first day , we were given a triple room in the basement and this room was terrible by any standard, no air conditioning and no good airing and the most disturbing thing is that you will hear each and every word from your neighbors since there were no sound proof in the rooms, we asked for another room and it was better but the sound proof problem continued, which made us uncomfortable , you would even hear your neighbors when they close or open the doors and you’d think they are knocking your door, it was that bad. Another thing is one of the staff was really rude when I asked for changing the room she treated me really badly and when I came to the reception to continue discussing something that I discussed with her in the phone she was talking very angrily and she said it is strange of me to discuss with her something we agreed upon! What kind of customer service is that?? But I had her apologize to me for her disgraceful behavior. And told here not use such words with customers again. The hotel was undergone a changing from a 3 stars hotel to a 4 stars hotel, and they were too busy and it was very missy and disturbing, I think some staff didn’t realize yet that they are in a four stars hotel and they need to be up to standards in term of customer services and general attitude. I will never even think of recommending or staying at this hotel again. I have stayed in a lot of 3 and 4 stars hotels in Amsterdam and it was good hotels.
The room was very clean and quiet. Although our room was close to the lift we heard no sound from it.
location, size of room, late checkout time The staff rang us one morning to find out when we were going out so they could clean the room....we felt a bit pressured to leave the room!!
Hotel staff was great. Room was small but well layed out. Resturant was awful. Awesome smells, looked elegant, but food was terrible. Told the server and no offer of replacing or anything was offered. While view of city street was great, windows did not block out street noises.
