Avis now ranks below fox in my book... and that is hard to do. The "legal" term for what I experienced was bait and switch. EV (said my credit card rental coverage probably didn't cover Electric vehicles and the only other option was a 10 person van which at 5'3" and 67 years old would be unsafe for me to drive. One of the Worst experience ever renting a car. The radio made an ear screeching sound so we couldn’t use it. the vehicle was filthy dirty. There were stains on the paint job that wouldn’t come off,Reviewed Mar 29 2026

This was the worst experience I have ever had with. I was left to resolve the matter on my own. The 3rd party Kayak used did not address my issue and left me stranded. I could not move the reservation to any other provider, and I had to find a vehicle myself. We were 2 hours late for our meeting. And what makes this worst is I prepaid everything. I would not use KAYAK or their service providers again and I will tell everyone I know about this experienceReviewed Jun 16 2025

Our AVIS rep at SeaTac was wonderful. She was very patient when my credit card didn’t work and saved my ‘mystery car’ reservation while I paid off enough of the balance to pay for our car. Based on this experience I will not hesitate to recommend AVIS in the future.Reviewed May 12 2025

i put an electric car on hold, but when i arrived i was told it would only have a range of 100-150miles. i was also told if i didnt bring it back charged fully it would cost me an extra $35 and that charging would take about 4-8 hrs. so for a one night rental i was looking to be charging/waiting around constantly. they did get me a gas car, but it wasnt cheap.Reviewed Sep 30 2024

Awful experience. Had to wait nearly two hours in line and even then the pickup and drop off experiences were a complete mess. Avis preferred desk employees were not helpful. Car experience was mediocre. Plan to avoid Avis in the future.Reviewed Sep 20 2024
