Hotel is good and clean. The big artistic column(?) made of gravels is very impressive. The staffs in front desk are not very professional. They charged me twice because they didn't check that they charged on my credit card when I booked using booking.com. So, I'm arguing rightnow. Be careful, everybody!!!
Location, generosity of staff (postcards, newspapers) Not able to get a la carte breakfast in dining room.
The breakfast at the last floor of the hotel, with a direct view to the Gugenheim was wonderful. I was welcomed by a nice woman, talking at least 3 different languages: spanish, english and french! Price of the breakfast was a bit high for the quality.
Ideal location, nice staff, amazing view from the 7th floor. Room was spotless, spacious,... Really nice But, really bad noise insulation. This is a 3* criteria! A shame for a 5* hotel. You can hear doors closing in the corridor and toilets flushing from neighboring rooms.
extremely good location
The hotel was excellent - helpful staff and beautiful décor. The location was also superb. No.
The location with respect to the Guggenheim was perfect and the eating facilities, breakfast buffet. bar, and restaurant were excellent The actual room was awkwardly shaped such that there was a pillar that severely limited the seating at the bench. The television had to be on this bench but was too far away from the bed to allow the ticker on the news screens to be read. The WiFi required a new password every day
Found the garage and before we climbed out of our van your cheerful bellman was greeting us in English. He made a great first impression. He was there when we left and we left him 2 bottles of wine to say thanks for his help. We needed a van cab for our luggage and he was quite helpful in arranging it for us. Clerks at counter were very helpful in finding places, showing you on maps, making suggestions. Loved the look of the hotel, fountains, decor, etc. Great place!
good location, clean modern facilities and friendly staff
An extremely elegant Hotel in an excellent location for shopping, restaurants or just lazily sitting in the beautiful Plaza opposite, with first-class Hotel staff, food and comfort.
Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff. We had a very quick stay and did not have the full experience of staying at the Carlton. The concierge was very friendly offered to hold our bags while we explored the city after check out
the location was excellent. the hotel was beautiful. the room was spacious and beautifully decorated. the bathroom was luxurious. The staff was not very friendly.
Great hotel, superb location, half way between the Googenheim, and the old town.
The renovated rooms are comfortable All public areas need to be redone.
A nice Hotel in downtown Bilbao It might need some renovation in a year or so - the restaurant is just ok
The service was superb
Location and breakfast. The latter is expensive but the quality and quantity is great. The breakfast is expensive compared to the room. The TV is small and wrongly placed.
Nice location, in city centre; the room is quite big, comfortable, you may find a pillow list, they provide several styles of pillow, fantastic; The parking service is really nice, and you should drive a nice car getting in:) The TV is really small, few channels
Excellent facilities, very friendly staff and superb breakfast and central location
The hotel was well-located (10 min walk to the Guggenheim and short walk to metro). The suite was large (we were four people) and comfortable. We were very happy with the room. Reception was friendly and helpful. We had requested a baby cot at the time of booking and it wasn't there when we arrived. However, reception was very helpful and provided one after we asked. Getting into the parking garage was a little scary!
Location was excellent! Near Plaza Moyua and shopping. We had a triple room on the 2nd floor in the newer wing and that one was great but we also had a double room in the older wing on 4th floor and this room was in need of an update. Carpet and decor were worn and paint was chipping.
buffet breakfast reception not quite as as atttentive on arrival as one would have hoped
efficient service, free internet in the lobby, central location
Nice staff, good breakfast, nice room There was only a socket for plugging in electric devices. Thus, it was not possible to plug in the laptop while the TV was on!
The hotel was comfortable and in an ideal location. The reception staff were not very friendly or helpful.
Closeness to the shops and bus station. Breakfast buffet
I liked very much the hotel staff, their behavior.
Location, free wifi.
location, room comfort, the staff at the reception desk Wi-Fi didn't work in the rooms.
The location was brilliant. Food really good. When our TV wasn't working, prompt service. When it still didn't work, they swaps rooms for us. Excellent. One of the waiters was a bit unattentive. Rest of staff were excellent.
just a stay overnight quality of food
Quiet location - in the park. Not enough closet space The eggs and 'hot' food was cold.
Excellent Architecture , well located and he fabulous breakfast Parking in front of hotel could be a improved while checking in.
Always a great experience!! None
The warmth and comfort In common with many other Spanish hotels there was no lavatory brush in the bathroom. This is something which should be corrected !
Great hotel and location as the tram stop is right next to the hotel and takes you into the old part of the town were all the shops and restaurants are. The cost of the tram is just1 euro.
The position of hotel with the coloured glass windows overlooking the river - superb spot to sit in the room and just view the river and only 5 mins walk to Guggenheim Musuem. The restaurant was lovely and also had a very good bar with tapas - excellent. Bathroom decor glamourous.
Rooms are spacious, clean and modern. Also very quiet. I had a really enjoyable stay there.
Very modern and stylish hotel
High tech design and decor + close to Guggenheim and casco viejo Should have had free internet access not just WiFi for those with laptops
Everything about this hotel is 5 star - staff, service, quality and location. except the price through booking.com is only 3 star! Brilliant place.
Great food in Bilbao and Fabulous Gugenheim Museum. Lighting in room was minimal and it was difficult to see in the room, especially over the bench where suitcases were placed and there was no overhead lighting.
Hotel is in a good location, overlooking the river, 10 min walk to Guggenheim, 15 min walk to old town. Hotel is clean, good facilities (bar, restaurant), rooms are well-appointed and bathrooms have a decent bath and shower. Breakfast is expensive if not included in price.
close to Guggenheim and tram stop to old town
Excellent & convenient location, very helpful and pleasant staff. View on the river from our room was beautiful. Room was spacious. The room was always very clean, but so much chlorine bleach was used in the laundering of bed linen and towels the whole room smelled enough to make us ill! The water also seems to be very chlorinated. Our pajamas smelled like bleach and there is simply no excuse for this as non-smelling bleachs do exist!
We enjoy the fact that the Hotel was so close to downtown Bilbao and close to so many atractions. The Hotel staff was very friendly and spoke many laguages ( Spanish, French, english etc.)
A very luxurious hotel that may have seen better days - but for the price an irresistible offer. Located very central. The double-rooms are very spacious, the bathroom huge and well equipped. The Bar/Cafeteria is typical, friendly and fast. Though nothing is dirty or broken, you notice that many people before you have been staying in the rooms.
Staff were pleasant and helpful. Very good breakfast. Had delicious evening meal in hotel restaurant on last evening of stay. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Staff efficiency. Early coffee was offered for guests taking flights before normal breakfsat times. This turned out to be almost a complete breakfast - a very welcome surprise. Nothing at all
A very well located, comfortable and clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff
We know this hotel for over 20 years and enjoy the comfort of the beds, the space in the rooms and the general decoration and furnishing. The location is ideal for shopping and visiting the town. The staff are efficient polite and helpful. The best breakfast selection of all the hotels you booked for us. We stayed in room 508, the only false note was the shower control which is near to falling off. I did not report this due to the crowded front desk situation.
The position, the hotel staffs. It is a good hotel, but not at the level of other NH I have been, especially for the room.
Very modern and good looking hotel, friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms and shinny shared spaces. Very good value for money. Location, altough very good (10 minute walking from shopping areas, 20 minutes from old town), it not exactly at downtown, but on the other hand, it´s very close to Guggenheim museum.
spacious and clean
clean and lots of space charging for internet access
Friendly and helpful staff how processed my check in and out quickly. Nice room which was comfortable and clean
Relaxed and quiet staff very good and helpful No
The room was too small
The location is great. We liked the modern design of the furniture, the lighting and the bathroom features. By the way, the shower was fabulous. We would prefer a room with a better view, Ours was into some courtyard
Hotel staff Rooms design
good value for money.very centrally located.
Central location, updated decor, helpful staff, good value Some upgrades, like the floor, were cheaply done - squeaky laminate
A good, comfortable, pleasant hotel in a good location. Staff were responsive to requests and helpful.
Rooms are big, with big nice bathrooms. Very comfortable! There is WIFI available at the rooms but you have to pay per hour or day. I would prefer it to be included in the price, even if it is a little more expensive
no umbrella when outside raining;
Perfect location and the great room The spa wasn't that fabulous
Compared to other Spanish cities, Bilbao & this hotel (with its huge room) in particular offers excellent value for money. David Australia
The bar area was very cosy and the service excellent. The bedrooms were good and the staff very helpful. The plastic underlays on the beds were extremely uncomfortable. One tends to sweat and i believe in the year 2010 the hotel should resort to something else.
Conveniently located, within walking distance of Old City, the main bus station, and Guggenheim.
restaurant, design of rooms, location smoky bar
The room is luxurious The food is awful - pretentious, way overpriced, duck was undercooked and rice dish was swimming in chicken fat; there was nothing extra on the "main dish" plate except one item - duck for the duck plate, rice for the rice plate. Stay out of the restaurant!!!
The comfort of the hotel at a very good price
Smart, clean hotel in great location. Immaculate rooms. music through PA in corridors all night can be heard in room..
Good sized bathroom well appointed and hotel served an excellent breakfast. No access to movies on TV and the room wasn't cleaned and the beds were not made up for our second night. The hotel was difficult to find as it's mostly signed as Indautxu but called Silken Indautxu on line.
Good hotel in excellent location
Large comfortable room. Free WiFi. Close to city centre and metro station. Very good breakfast.
We chose this hotel because it had excellent reviews, was near the old town to the east, the Guggenheim Museum to the west, and the river on three sides, and we were not disappointed. It is modern, clean, with excellent helpful staff and is ideally situated. As we arrived late evening (from the Santander ferry), the hotel car park was full (we were warned this might be the case); however the receptionist directed us to the public car park which is almost opposite and we left our car there for the stay which was not a problem - plenty of space and good security. Bilbao is a lovely town, especially the old quarter and the gardens. While tapas is available all day, the restaurants only open for dinner at 9pm, which is too late for us. Fortunately we stumbled across the bar/restaurant Berton at 11 Calle Jardines in the old town which serves meals throughout the day and evening; we had an excellent meal there. The Guggenheim is an interesting building with unique architecture. We visited all the galleries but must confess to not getting much out of it. 16 slightly different obscure paintings of Lenin and Stalin hanging upside down in dresses is not for me, however the pretentious commentary from the audio unit does provide some amusement. Two disappointments with the hotel – the aircon didn’t cool (the maid opened the window for us on the second day), and the breakfast was nothing special but expensive (€15) and there was no normal tea for some reason on both mornings.
Fab location. Spacious comfortable rooms and great value for money. We stayed here with our two kids for one night before getting ferry back to Portsmouth. Highly recommended.
No hangers in closet No place to unpack suitcase Outrageously priced breakfast
Please write at least 15 words
Good position with benefit of garage. Good buffet breakfast. Helpful and smiling staff- we would definitely return and recommend it.
location, excellent bathroom Dark room no natural light
The location of the hotel is excellent for shopping in Bilbao. The hotel staff were very helpful when needed. No, everything was very good.
Great location A little pricey for the stay
location good but extremely noisy. Bins collected each morning at 5.30 am. little atsmophere. possibly the most uncomortable bed I have ever slept in.
Location. Internet access. The wireless device from the floor my room was located always was unaccessible, I had to connect the device from another floor, giving me worse connection.
I liked the location. quite room like I asked in my booking, breakfast, clean room. Bed litle bit hard and bedclothes coud be modern and better quality.
good parking facilities and a good rate, excellent location paper thin walls, could hear too much from next room.
very central the views
This is the best small luxury hotel of Bilbao at a veru reasonable price.
small, personal, quaint
As a so called "5 Star" hotel there was no possibility to change days unless pay for one day. Very poor. We will not recommend this hotel and we do both work in travel agent industry.
Personal and historical outlooks of the hotel. Polite service. Close to the meeting place. Wireless internet access in the rooms was not available free as it was stated in the internet pages. That was a big disappointment because that is why we chose the 5 star hotel.
Comfortable rooms in good location
Great location, friendly staff. Smoke from bar on ground floor spreading to all floors of the hotel. Noisy street (although not the hotel's fault)
Staff is amazing. Location is perfect. Rooms are large and comfortable.
Beautiful hotel, good location, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast
Excellent central position. Friendly staff
Everything. Good location, pleasant, efficient and helpful staff and service
location was relatively good reception staff were both unhelpfull and unfriendly and not at all in keeping with what one would expect from a four star hotel.
Room was very comfortable and quiet. Hotel was in a good location for seeing the city of Bilbao. Thought ther could have been a wider choice at breakfast.
The location is ideal for exploring a wonderful city without needing a car. Unintrusive 24 hour reception with nice sweets and good English (thanks for that, my Spanish is very limited). Good restaurants with a range of (affordable) prices very nearby. The Spa is excellent (with reservations mentioned elsewhere). If you like to cycle the hotel rents bikes :-). Mosquitoes. Dirty room which didn't get any cleaner; bathroom sink not cleaned at all during our 3 night stay. Furniture and textiles have seen better days. Spa not included!! It's a separate business and located without private entrance for hotel guests, ie. no privacy. The website lacked relevant information to enable visitors to bring the equipment required for entry to the Spa.
This hotel represented good value for money at the time of purchase. A clean, spacious hotel in a great location - a 10 minute walk from the Old Town or the Guggenheim.
The staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful telling us how to get into the hotel car park and then up to reception to check in. We were very disappointed that on our return stay in this hotel, there were no tea/coffee making facilities.
Breakfast Hotel difficult to find. Air conditioning in bedroom not functioning.
Great value for money
Near the center of the City. Easy to move around directly from the Hotel to main tourist attractions. Not very comfortable. Old rooms and uncomfortable bed mattresses.
Good location and general standard of room etc. Staff did not explain fully some queries - e.g. they led us to understand bus to Vitoria airport would go all way to airport and it didn't!!
Good position and pleasant room with good facilities. The breakfast was of relatively poor quality and expensive compared with similar hotels.
service and location there are 10 steps (going down) to navigate from entrance to desk.
It's a stylish hotel in a great location, within sight of the iconic Guggenheim. The free bar was as added bonus as a place to unwind pre-dinner and get to meet other guests.
lovely hotel - what a boutique hotel should be - appealing modern furnishing, friendly and helpful staff, perfect location about 2 blocks from the Gugg - easy walk into a charming city center
Good location, very convenient to Guggenheim. Helpful staff. Plenty of umbrellas to borrow and Complimentary Bar!
Amazing location, clean rooms and friendly staff Room was smaller than expected
Modern, efficient, central to Guggenheim Noisy A/C. Hotel moved us into another room but charged for minibar which we did not use.
Feeling a little stressed from driving in we were welcomed by free snacks and drinks in the lounge. Our room was outstanding with good views ofth Guggenheim and we had thoughtfully been given an adjoining room for our accompanying daughter. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to others.
Convenience of location, especially proximity to Guggenheim. Bed was great, even better were the perfect pillows (down) and the lovely blanket (mohair). The shower was just right. I rarely find myself in a hotel room that has the right blend of comforts for me. My travel companion was as pleased. We were very happy. The clicking in the heating/cooling system. At night we just turned it off and opened the window.
Very good location. Maybe designers of Miro Hotel had a specific opinion about design. The black floor and red pillows are not a design. There is very uncomfortable location of the equipment in the room. Cloakroom is located beside pillows. There is no bath in the bathroom – only shower. And direct hole from bathroom to the sleeping area. Dripped water falls straight from bathroom to the bed. It is terrible!
The spa facilities and the helpful, English-speaking desk workers.
Very good evening meal Room much too hot ,but probably my fault as I should have asked how to turn it off!!
The location is excellent, The reception staff were very helpful. Housekeeping staff were excellent- bedlinen changed every day. All in all a very nice hotel. Well placed for the Gugg the old Quarter which we love, the University and the Gran Via. A short walk across the bridge to the Tram stop. The total indifference of the bar staff.
Location, friendliness of the staff. Only one criticism, - finding the garage to park the car ! The entrance is not under the back of the hotel and the sign to show that this is the underground car-park entrance is not easy to see and has letters only approx. 1" high !! So more attention here would help car-owner/guests.
The hotel has been refurbished and provided a very pleasant stay. The internet photos were an accurate representation of the hotel itself, and the people were pleasant.
good position, very comfortable, will stay again
Pleasantness and helpfulness of all staff we came into contact with was first rate, even to the email confirming our late check-in before we arrived The smoking in the bar permeated into the breakfast area at times
Very helpful Staff, Great location, easy walk to Guggenheim etc.
Personal service is good, very friendly and ready to help with everything. It is a comfortable 3 star hotel. Situated between Gugenheim and old city center. Breakfast buffet was also very good for the hotel category (with fresh fruit, serrano ham, juices, cereals, eggs....), only the coffee was not so good. Free Wifi and a computer at the lobby for free use. For short stays is perfect. Walls are very thin, you can hear everything. My room was at the end of the aile but I could hear the drink machine near the lift. Room was very small, ok for one person but not comfortable for too. Hotel is mostly renewed, rooms are fine but the bathroom design a little bit oldy. A lack of natural light make everything a little bit dark, also my room which has inside view but with no possibilities to open the window.
Location and amenities. Very good value.
