The location with respect to the Guggenheim was perfect and the eating facilities, breakfast buffet. bar, and restaurant were excellent The actual room was awkwardly shaped such that there was a pillar that severely limited the seating at the bench. The television had to be on this bench but was too far away from the bed to allow the ticker on the news screens to be read. The WiFi required a new password every day
Location, generosity of staff (postcards, newspapers) Not able to get a la carte breakfast in dining room.
Ideal location, nice staff, amazing view from the 7th floor. Room was spotless, spacious,... Really nice But, really bad noise insulation. This is a 3* criteria! A shame for a 5* hotel. You can hear doors closing in the corridor and toilets flushing from neighboring rooms.
The hotel was excellent - helpful staff and beautiful décor. The location was also superb. No.
The breakfast at the last floor of the hotel, with a direct view to the Gugenheim was wonderful. I was welcomed by a nice woman, talking at least 3 different languages: spanish, english and french! Price of the breakfast was a bit high for the quality.
Found the garage and before we climbed out of our van your cheerful bellman was greeting us in English. He made a great first impression. He was there when we left and we left him 2 bottles of wine to say thanks for his help. We needed a van cab for our luggage and he was quite helpful in arranging it for us. Clerks at counter were very helpful in finding places, showing you on maps, making suggestions. Loved the look of the hotel, fountains, decor, etc. Great place!
extremely good location
good location, clean modern facilities and friendly staff
Hotel is good and clean. The big artistic column(?) made of gravels is very impressive. The staffs in front desk are not very professional. They charged me twice because they didn't check that they charged on my credit card when I booked using booking.com. So, I'm arguing rightnow. Be careful, everybody!!!
An extremely elegant Hotel in an excellent location for shopping, restaurants or just lazily sitting in the beautiful Plaza opposite, with first-class Hotel staff, food and comfort.
Nice location, in city centre; the room is quite big, comfortable, you may find a pillow list, they provide several styles of pillow, fantastic; The parking service is really nice, and you should drive a nice car getting in:) The TV is really small, few channels
The renovated rooms are comfortable All public areas need to be redone.
Great hotel, superb location, half way between the Googenheim, and the old town.
A nice Hotel in downtown Bilbao It might need some renovation in a year or so - the restaurant is just ok
Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff. We had a very quick stay and did not have the full experience of staying at the Carlton. The concierge was very friendly offered to hold our bags while we explored the city after check out
the location was excellent. the hotel was beautiful. the room was spacious and beautifully decorated. the bathroom was luxurious. The staff was not very friendly.
Location and breakfast. The latter is expensive but the quality and quantity is great. The breakfast is expensive compared to the room. The TV is small and wrongly placed.
The service was superb
Excellent facilities, very friendly staff and superb breakfast and central location
Rooms are spacious, clean and modern. Also very quiet. I had a really enjoyable stay there.
Great food in Bilbao and Fabulous Gugenheim Museum. Lighting in room was minimal and it was difficult to see in the room, especially over the bench where suitcases were placed and there was no overhead lighting.
close to Guggenheim and tram stop to old town
Very modern and stylish hotel
We enjoy the fact that the Hotel was so close to downtown Bilbao and close to so many atractions. The Hotel staff was very friendly and spoke many laguages ( Spanish, French, english etc.)
High tech design and decor + close to Guggenheim and casco viejo Should have had free internet access not just WiFi for those with laptops
Hotel is in a good location, overlooking the river, 10 min walk to Guggenheim, 15 min walk to old town. Hotel is clean, good facilities (bar, restaurant), rooms are well-appointed and bathrooms have a decent bath and shower. Breakfast is expensive if not included in price.
Everything about this hotel is 5 star - staff, service, quality and location. except the price through booking.com is only 3 star! Brilliant place.
Excellent & convenient location, very helpful and pleasant staff. View on the river from our room was beautiful. Room was spacious. The room was always very clean, but so much chlorine bleach was used in the laundering of bed linen and towels the whole room smelled enough to make us ill! The water also seems to be very chlorinated. Our pajamas smelled like bleach and there is simply no excuse for this as non-smelling bleachs do exist!
The position of hotel with the coloured glass windows overlooking the river - superb spot to sit in the room and just view the river and only 5 mins walk to Guggenheim Musuem. The restaurant was lovely and also had a very good bar with tapas - excellent. Bathroom decor glamourous.
just a stay overnight quality of food
location, room comfort, the staff at the reception desk Wi-Fi didn't work in the rooms.
The warmth and comfort In common with many other Spanish hotels there was no lavatory brush in the bathroom. This is something which should be corrected !
The location was brilliant. Food really good. When our TV wasn't working, prompt service. When it still didn't work, they swaps rooms for us. Excellent. One of the waiters was a bit unattentive. Rest of staff were excellent.
Excellent Architecture , well located and he fabulous breakfast Parking in front of hotel could be a improved while checking in.
Quiet location - in the park. Not enough closet space The eggs and 'hot' food was cold.
Great hotel and location as the tram stop is right next to the hotel and takes you into the old part of the town were all the shops and restaurants are. The cost of the tram is just1 euro.
Always a great experience!! None
Everything. Good location, pleasant, efficient and helpful staff and service
This is the best small luxury hotel of Bilbao at a veru reasonable price.
Great location, friendly staff. Smoke from bar on ground floor spreading to all floors of the hotel. Noisy street (although not the hotel's fault)
Excellent central position. Friendly staff
Beautiful hotel, good location, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast
small, personal, quaint
Personal and historical outlooks of the hotel. Polite service. Close to the meeting place. Wireless internet access in the rooms was not available free as it was stated in the internet pages. That was a big disappointment because that is why we chose the 5 star hotel.
Staff is amazing. Location is perfect. Rooms are large and comfortable.
Comfortable rooms in good location
As a so called "5 Star" hotel there was no possibility to change days unless pay for one day. Very poor. We will not recommend this hotel and we do both work in travel agent industry.
location was relatively good reception staff were both unhelpfull and unfriendly and not at all in keeping with what one would expect from a four star hotel.
Good position and pleasant room with good facilities. The breakfast was of relatively poor quality and expensive compared with similar hotels.
Good location and general standard of room etc. Staff did not explain fully some queries - e.g. they led us to understand bus to Vitoria airport would go all way to airport and it didn't!!
This hotel represented good value for money at the time of purchase. A clean, spacious hotel in a great location - a 10 minute walk from the Old Town or the Guggenheim.
Breakfast Hotel difficult to find. Air conditioning in bedroom not functioning.
Great value for money
Room was very comfortable and quiet. Hotel was in a good location for seeing the city of Bilbao. Thought ther could have been a wider choice at breakfast.
The location is ideal for exploring a wonderful city without needing a car. Unintrusive 24 hour reception with nice sweets and good English (thanks for that, my Spanish is very limited). Good restaurants with a range of (affordable) prices very nearby. The Spa is excellent (with reservations mentioned elsewhere). If you like to cycle the hotel rents bikes :-). Mosquitoes. Dirty room which didn't get any cleaner; bathroom sink not cleaned at all during our 3 night stay. Furniture and textiles have seen better days. Spa not included!! It's a separate business and located without private entrance for hotel guests, ie. no privacy. The website lacked relevant information to enable visitors to bring the equipment required for entry to the Spa.
Near the center of the City. Easy to move around directly from the Hotel to main tourist attractions. Not very comfortable. Old rooms and uncomfortable bed mattresses.
The staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful telling us how to get into the hotel car park and then up to reception to check in. We were very disappointed that on our return stay in this hotel, there were no tea/coffee making facilities.
Pleasantness and helpfulness of all staff we came into contact with was first rate, even to the email confirming our late check-in before we arrived The smoking in the bar permeated into the breakfast area at times
Location and amenities. Very good value.
Location, friendliness of the staff. Only one criticism, - finding the garage to park the car ! The entrance is not under the back of the hotel and the sign to show that this is the underground car-park entrance is not easy to see and has letters only approx. 1" high !! So more attention here would help car-owner/guests.
Very good evening meal Room much too hot ,but probably my fault as I should have asked how to turn it off!!
Personal service is good, very friendly and ready to help with everything. It is a comfortable 3 star hotel. Situated between Gugenheim and old city center. Breakfast buffet was also very good for the hotel category (with fresh fruit, serrano ham, juices, cereals, eggs....), only the coffee was not so good. Free Wifi and a computer at the lobby for free use. For short stays is perfect. Walls are very thin, you can hear everything. My room was at the end of the aile but I could hear the drink machine near the lift. Room was very small, ok for one person but not comfortable for too. Hotel is mostly renewed, rooms are fine but the bathroom design a little bit oldy. A lack of natural light make everything a little bit dark, also my room which has inside view but with no possibilities to open the window.
good position, very comfortable, will stay again
Very helpful Staff, Great location, easy walk to Guggenheim etc.
The location is excellent, The reception staff were very helpful. Housekeeping staff were excellent- bedlinen changed every day. All in all a very nice hotel. Well placed for the Gugg the old Quarter which we love, the University and the Gran Via. A short walk across the bridge to the Tram stop. The total indifference of the bar staff.
The hotel has been refurbished and provided a very pleasant stay. The internet photos were an accurate representation of the hotel itself, and the people were pleasant.
Well located for a city trip, central but reasonably quiet, plus parking (for extra charge). Clean and tidy. Free room safe. Plenty of small bars for meals nearby - try near the Deusto metro stop. Parking ramps very tight to turn. Bedside lights were ceiling spots that made reading in bed very difficult. Wifi expensive (but there is a free PC in the lobby for 45 minutes use).
The hotel's location is ok. Also the rate is good value for money. the rooms are clean and nice. The tv channels are very limited and most of them are spanish! Also the is no flexibility in late-check-out, one cannot stay later than midday without paying!!
It was a fine, clean, not too expensive hoyel. Very central to the city and near the university and the beach and airport. I intend to stay there again.
Q: What's the difference between a leper and a dog owner? A: According to this hotel, nothing. The room for dog owners is at the end of a short corridor where the cleaning supplies are kept. The carpet that adorns the other corridors runs out before the dog owners corridor. Inside the room there are dirty stains in the wall paper, scratches all over the floor, unmatching furniture, and the toilet didn't appear to be bolted down properly so it made a loud noise when you sat on it. The bed was also very noisy and the window faced an interior patio of the hotel which meant that the only view was of other people's hotel windows. On top of this we were charged 25 euros extra per night for having a dog! The hotel parking facilities are overpriced The breakfast was a buffet which, although being nice, was overpriced and there were signs warning of video security which I assume was to stop guests taking an extra muffin or two for a later snack. The most disturbing part of our stay was the painting in the dining room which showed children playing in a field while a giant man watched them through binoculars. No kidding.
quality and location.
Staff very helpful
Excellent value for money. Large and spacious rooms, refurbished and comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast buffet and the staff especially friendly and helpful. The hotel is located very central, walk from the hotel to the Guggenheim Museum, the Old City and elsewhere, it is the reason why the garage is very useful (and not expensive at all). Very avant-garde design.
Good hotel especially if you want to go to the Guggenhiem Musem
Friendly and helpful staff, good location, availability of underground parking at the hotel, nice breakfast, quiet room. old room (number 212) and very basic not at all up to normal NH standards, parking is very difficult for a big car, the neighbourhood seems to be not too good but it is very close to Guggenheim, a shopping mall etc. all of which are across the bridge.
The spa facilities and the helpful, English-speaking desk workers.
Good location, very convenient to Guggenheim. Helpful staff. Plenty of umbrellas to borrow and Complimentary Bar!
Very good location. Maybe designers of Miro Hotel had a specific opinion about design. The black floor and red pillows are not a design. There is very uncomfortable location of the equipment in the room. Cloakroom is located beside pillows. There is no bath in the bathroom – only shower. And direct hole from bathroom to the sleeping area. Dripped water falls straight from bathroom to the bed. It is terrible!
lovely hotel - what a boutique hotel should be - appealing modern furnishing, friendly and helpful staff, perfect location about 2 blocks from the Gugg - easy walk into a charming city center
service and location there are 10 steps (going down) to navigate from entrance to desk.
Amazing location, clean rooms and friendly staff Room was smaller than expected
Modern, efficient, central to Guggenheim Noisy A/C. Hotel moved us into another room but charged for minibar which we did not use.
It's a stylish hotel in a great location, within sight of the iconic Guggenheim. The free bar was as added bonus as a place to unwind pre-dinner and get to meet other guests.
Convenience of location, especially proximity to Guggenheim. Bed was great, even better were the perfect pillows (down) and the lovely blanket (mohair). The shower was just right. I rarely find myself in a hotel room that has the right blend of comforts for me. My travel companion was as pleased. We were very happy. The clicking in the heating/cooling system. At night we just turned it off and opened the window.
Feeling a little stressed from driving in we were welcomed by free snacks and drinks in the lounge. Our room was outstanding with good views ofth Guggenheim and we had thoughtfully been given an adjoining room for our accompanying daughter. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to others.
