I tried to rent a vehicle for my sister so she would be able to get around for her daughter's wedding in Minneapolis (sister lives in Florida), but there was never any indication that there would be a requirement that I be present in person in Minneapolis to complete the rental transaction. This caused a considerable amount of frustration and undue stress for my sister (and her daughter, who had to provide payment). Either make it so someone else can easily pay for another person when they themselves will not be present, or be more upfront about in-person requirements.Reviewed Apr 16 2026

Started off bad and throughout the week it didn't get better. We asked for a SUV and they were trying to put us in a minivan. Then the person found us a SUV but it was not clean. The inside had garbage in it and dirty marks on the door panels and in most of the cubbies/cup holders. Now let's talk about the cruise control turning off on us all week. I had to drive long distances and it would have been nice to have cruise control for those drives. I probably would not use Budget again.Reviewed Apr 7 2026

The car reserved through Kayak was advertised as a mid-size SUV. I specifically paid extra to have a larger vehicle since I had my spouse and kids with me. Only at pickup did we find out that the rental car reserved was not a mid-size SUV, but an economy. The car they tried to provide wouldn't even fit my kid's car seats and our luggage. Budget blamed the the third party rental agency (QEEQ). The third party rental agency blamed Kayak. Kayak wouldn't answer any calls to customer service. All parties refused to provide any assistance and left my family stranded at the airport with a too-small car. When seeking help everyone just recommended paying more money in order to get a vehicle that matched the size originally advertised. Overall it was a very poor experience with Budget and Kayak. I will not be renting cars through Kayak in the future because they significantly misrepresent their vehicle sizes.Reviewed Jan 12 2026

Worst experience of my life while renting a car. The staff at the counter was rude and misleading about insurance information. We had such a bad experience that we ended up cancelling the reservervation and charged a penalty as they cancelled the booking an hour later than the pick up time. No one joined me to review its condition at the pickup. It had damage all over the exterior. The drop off parking was not indicated by any signage. Very hard to find. The key deposit box was also not indicated by signage. No one available by phone at 9:00 pm. No chat function at 9:00 pm. No directions to drop off parking on website.Reviewed Nov 25 2025

There was only 1 agent at the desk and he was representing 3 to 4 different brands. It’s a painfully long line. Why can’t I walk up to my car like National ? If you rent from Budget, you will be late to your next appointment.Reviewed Oct 23 2025
