There was a 2-hour line to pickup the car when we got to the airport. I had to cancel the reservation and book with Alamo (which, along with the 4 other car rental agencies, had a short line) to make our event on time. The Alamo agent told me that Budget does this every day, by offering low teaser rates without disclosing that you'll have to wait 2-hours+ to pick up the vehicle. God awful. The JFK budget is hell on earth. I clocked total pick up time at 3 hours and 1 minute. This was after a 10 hour flight from Rome. Then we got to drive 3 hours in the rain through NYC traffic. Avoid this place like the plague. The inefficiency of this place makes the DMV seem like a dream vacation. Employees were totally inept at their jobs. Sometimes only one would work at a time with a line out the door. Conversations at the window were taking forever. Cars were not ready. Some were unavailable. So so bad. Trenton Airport drop off was a complete 180. Parked the car. Have them my keys and left. He asked how my trip was. I asked him if he’d ever been to the JFK location. When we arrived, the line was incredibly long and moving painfully slow. I spoke to another woman farther up in line who said she had been waiting over two hours, and expected to wait at least an hour more. Only one person at the counter and a long line of people. System went down for a long time. Told us that they closed at 1:00am and were would have to wait till they reopened. Finally they got the system to work. The car I had was very noisy to drive.Reviewed Jun 1 2025

The wait for a car at Budget was over an hour (after a 12 hour flight with 4 kids). The agent rushed me through the process and had me add extras that I didn't need (tolls), which ended up being a complete waste of money. When I returned with the car an hour later, they refused to help. Customer service didn't help either. Cost was not worth it. Bad experience. Will not rent from Budget again.Reviewed May 28 2025
