Had over a two hour line for the desk, so we had to cancel our car rental and pay $100 more for a different car with Dollar. Multiple car rental agencies there and only Avis had a massive line

Plug-in hybrid was left at zero charge and 3/4 of a tank which made it difficult to refill exactly to 3/4 again. The drop-off process was extremely frustrating with no signage at the drop-off address and no help from the attendant I eventually found walking around. I ended up driving around for 30 minutes trying to find the right spot to drop it off and almost missed my connecting ferry.

It must be specified online that airport locations do not take debit card payments. When one searches on the Internet it says it does and then they refute and refuse at the airport location. It made me waste a whole day despite me being diligent

Budget refused to honor my rental of a small SUV, saying it was simply an economy class car and that it was kayaks fault for indicating the type of cars listed were small suvs. They told me they were “upgrading” me to a Toyota Corolla but it absolutely was a down grade and the car was as basic and underwhelming as they come. I asked to see the manager. I showed my small SUV reservation. He too said it was an economy class reservation and refused to answer whether they had my reserved type of suv in the lot. Also refused to give a different suv. He then with a straight face offered me a minivan. They were disparaging. They tried to upsell prepaid tolls and demanded to know who my insurance provider is when I declined additional coverage. It was the worst rental car experience I’ve had.

I can't say enough good things about the Boston Seaport budget rental car agency. John was immensely patient and thorough with my Very Many questions! I originally booked them by mistake, I thought I was booking through the airport. But this branch was much cheaper, Flexible and responsive. Best experience I've ever had with a car agency!. Excellent customer service.

Spent an hour and a half in line, such a slow and inefficient process. Then wasted 10 more minutes on my time on top of that pushing rental car coverage down my throat after I said I had it through a third party, and was lied to about that coverage not being adequate.

My experience was horrible with my Hertz rental. I have been a Hertz customer over 40 years and part of the President’s Circle. When I returned my car in Boston as I was getting on the shuttle bus to catch my flight got text. Damage found on car from AI. I returned to customer service and demanded to see the damage. There was a tiny scratch on one tire rim the customer service person had the look for because he was having a hard time finding it. Said there was nothing they could do because it was the AI machine and not them that picked up the scratch. I said this is great way to lose customers . He said he understood and that they are losing employees as well because they have to deal with all thus AI and nothing they can do. I have to call the 800 number for the AI company but he would put it report that I did not hit anything and did not do the damage. They were charging me $250 for damage plus $125 for admin fee. The next morning I called the 800 number and was told I have to speak to claims. They transferred me. Claims stated there was no report from customer service they could see. If it was put in yesterday it would take 4 business days before they could see the report. I would have to call back. How ridiculous they have machine that can see the tiniest of scratches instantly and create a charge to you. However a report that was created electronically will take 4 days for them to see. They loss this customer and everyone I talk to and do business with.

Everything was great except that when I checked in the employee sold me an additional insurance that I thought was a liability deposit that would be returned upon the cars return. She made it seem like it not negotiable but it added $300 on my bill after returning the car yesterday. I don’t think that is fair. You need to clearly state that the additional insurance is not necessary. My personal car insurance would have covered this issue. There was no option on the screen to opt out and I asked several questions about the necessity of this issue. She made it sound like it was a deposit and no negotiation. Ugh now I paid close to 1000 dollars Instead of the $600 I had planned for.

W re reserved a car to go on a leaf peeping trip and when we arrived to pick it up, they were all out of cars. We ended up cancelling our reservation and paying double with another rental company but at least they had a car for our reservation.

Double charged (not pending holds--actual charges) and still waiting for a response from the company. Many pre-trip messages insisting that I should check in online to "skip the desk and go straight to the car." Fortunately I didn't do that, because upon arrival, numerous unhappy travelers were turned away at the garage and sent back to the desk to check in. There were physical signs everywhere asking people to check in online and go straight to the garage. Terrible treatment at the desk. The person lied and said, verbatim, "We only have electric cars right now." and asked if I needed instructions on how to find charging stations. I insisted on a gas car and suddenly he was able to make one available--for twice the price we had reserved online! Don't lie to me and say there are not any gas cars then. Bad service in general too. He asked me how to spell my name WHILE actively holding my photo ID, and then later asked "What kind of card is that" after I had paid. (He meant Visa vs. Mastercard, which, again, you have my card. Stop wasting my time.) Car center console was dirty with brown sticky residue. Horrible experience start to finish, and I'm still not even finished since I'm still waiting for the charges to be corrected.

I accidentally rented an electric car… in thrifts defense I did not read the description before I purchased. It wasn’t until I was 30m away from the airport that I realized. Took forever to charge the car. The car only had 200mi on it to empty when I rented it. Also did not interact with anyone to get the car it was all online, turned in the keys to a human but that’s it.

Wildly inconvenient. I was given an electric rental that was not fully charged. I spent much of my vacation frantically looking for chargers to get it charged and wasted time I had planned for visiting instead on waiting for a rental car to charge. There should be warning or pop up pr some kind of instructions to renter that they are receiving a fully electric car so they know ahead of time and can swap if need be.

We didn’t pick up our car, because my husband ended up with sepsis and was in the hospital. The reason I gave.Dollar only a mediocre radio is because I called the pick up site to tell them we would not be able to pick up our car, and they would not cancel our reservation, because it was made through you. That was frustrating, because we knew someone else might need that car, so I think you need to change your policy so that when people have a problem they can cancel we tried to cancel through you and found it almost impossible. Even our son who is a computer expert, had a difficult time finding how to communicate with you about canceling our car so not a good experience.
