Car not ready for pickup
Cons: Reservation couldn't be found in the mobile app could not walk to the car 30 minutes at the desk

Okay car -- Hertz service poor
Pros: Car was acceptable -- clean, modern technology, good in snow
Cons: Hertz checkin SLOW..... When I approached the checkin line to get a car, 2 agents were busy. After waiting over 10 mins while they tried to sell the renter at the counter upgraded cars and every possible option, the transaction was completed ... and the agent LEFT THE COUNTER FOR A BREAK even tho there were now 4 others in line!!! The 1 agent still on duty was STILL in the process of servicing the same customer they had been servicing when I first approached. After another 10 minutes waiting, a new agent sat down and I was able to get my car and proceed. I was not informed that Hertz FORCES acceptance of insurance unless you can PROVD you have alternate coverage by showing your own auto policy!! Who carries THEIR OWN AUTO POLICY on vacation and renting a car???!!!??? This is ridiculous. Finally got a car and agent indicated I HAD TO use their 'never lost' device for phone service-- another fee AND was not hands free!!! As this is ILLEGAL DRIVING in Massachusetts, I refused!!! Hertz needs to get their act together and be more customer focused as opposed to fee thieves. I will use Kayak, but will NOT choose Hertz ever again.

Safety should be number one
Pros: The young man who helped us was very nice and worked hard. It appears that he was a one man show in that, he was brushing snow off of cars and then running into to help customers. I admired his can do attitude. The car we got was a small Chevy. It's an interesting little economy car that rides pretty nicely and handles well for what it is.
Cons: I didn't like that my wife whose rental it was was given a car without washer fluid and tires that were inflated from 8-10 pounds. I contacted Hertz twice and was told by agents to bring it up when I turn the rental in. That is not good enough for me; I think something should've been done then. I ended up contacting Hertz on line who, as I write this, is researching the case. I am most disappointed in Hertz. I thought they were number one but that may be from my memory of them in the 70s. I'll see how they handle these safety concerns and decide if I'll ever do business with them again.
