Although I received an email saying that the car rental was confirmed, when I showed up to pick up my vehicle, the rental company had no cars available at all. In fact, I went back to the airport to see if other companies had cars and no one had any rentals available. I lost my money on the 2 nights pre-paid hotel accommodations. I did not end up using europcar in Costa Rica as they try an charge you an outrageous amount for insurance (no refundable $500) even though I already purchased insurance abd the car prior for $120 total. Working on getting my refund back , better off renting from the localeReviewed Nov 8 2022

Awful experience. Reserved rate wasn’t honored at all. Tried to charge me 5x as much at the counter with a multiple thousand dollar “deposit”. Had to walk away. Would never try to rent from them in Costa Rica again.Reviewed Aug 13 2022

I canceled my rental car. The people, QEEQ.com, returned my money immediately. I bought the zero deductible insurance from the same web page and the money wasn't returned for the rental. I phoned Alliance and they said that they were putting in a request for the return of my money but I haven't received it as yet.Reviewed Jun 8 2022

Not because Europcar people in San Jose, they been good, and the car was O.K., but we had to buy a new coverage Insurance, because the one you offered on the web page at the time of this reservation was not valid in San Jose!!! How you can offer it??? if not a valid coverage?! Please proceed to refund us for the Allianz Insurance purchased, we try contact them with no e-mails going through, please indicate the steps to be taken for recovering our money?! Price was 3 times higher compared to initial booking in kayak. Old vehicle, uncomfortable. Picking up the car took around 2 hours. Won’t be renting with Europcar or using Kayak in the futureReviewed Apr 17 2022

This rental agency is a complete fraud! Upon arrival, they wanted to charge twice the amount the booking had stated. We ended up taking the bus instead. Quite frankly, the manager of this establishment should be investigated for fraud and theft. My advice: stay away.Reviewed Apr 16 2022

So we did the reservation through kayak to pick up our rental car at europcar. In the reservation mail it says it is about 300$ for 3days and I knew there will obviously charge extra for insurance but I wasn’t prepared for what they told us: we should pay another 300$ (+30 0000$ deposit on my credit card?????) so I definitely declined and we walked out of the office. The other insurance possibilities were also really expensive. We were still sitting outside of europcar office and After calling other rental car companies comparing prices the lady from europcar came again and tried to negotiate (pretended to have called her boss to give us better offer). Still more than 500$ so we really left their ground then. We ended up with a car from avanti rent a car for 300$ (Including full insurance! +only 400$ deposit!) so definitely don’t go to europcar in San José!! I mean eventually every rental car company rips you off but try to compare !Reviewed Apr 2 2022
