Horrible. 1.5hrs waiting time for pickup. Then for return the same line. Actual price including mandatory fees (ofcourse 'mentioned' in the 15 pages small print) 3 times higher than shown price when I made the booking. Worst experience with a car rental ever. They are hiding the extra insurance charges until you are actually picking up the car and they are forcing you to take their insurance and ripping you off with more than double the rental price. Big scam 😒Reviewed Apr 23 2025

Kayak quoted us a price with insurance and once we arrived in country, we were told we needed to pay an additional $300 for insurance as the country did not recognize the insurance Kayak had sold us in the rental contract. Very dissatisfied.Reviewed Apr 21 2025

I'm unclear as to why my kayak booking price and hertz rental end price were so drastically different. My reservation and Kayak price was close to $400 and my final booking were nothing changed was almost $1000. Just didn't make sense and hertz didn't honor the kayak price and I still can't figure out if i paid twice.Reviewed Jul 2 2024

Everything about the car was fine. The pick up took a little longer than I would like. The major problem was the hidden fees. Mandatory renter's insurance. An online reservation for a $180 dollar rental turned into a $400 rental. The charge for refilling the tank was $98 plus the cost of gas.Reviewed Jun 2 2024

Hertz insisted that we pay more than the quoted amount, and told us we needed a letter from our insurance company which we were not informed of until we arrived at the rental office. So instead of the rental being the quoted amount of $480.25 CAD, they insisted that we pay $750 USD and provide a letter from my credit card company proving that our card covered insurance on a rental. When I showed the Hertz agent the booking through Kayak he just kept repeating "I work for Hertz, not Kayak" and showing me the Hertz agreement on their website. When I showed him the RBC credit care website outlining the details of our credit card (showing that rental insurance was covered), he say he needed a letter from our credit card company. All my other interactions with Kayak have been great, but this was an awful experience, and we ended up paying significantly more for a rental than the amount Kayak had quoted us.Reviewed Mar 19 2024
