They provide free internet which is great.And the location is good for travellors. The floor could be a bit of old and the noise from upstairs is annoying.

Beautifully restored staircase, on site parking, central location For a "superior" room, the furnishing was a bit utility, and the battlship grey colour scheme in the refurbished corridors was depressing.

The hotel was clean, modern and staff were very helpful. The hotel location is a five minute walk from the quay side and a five minute walk to the bus station - were you can get a bus that takes ten mins to get to the metro centre. Didn't like the fact the hotel had no free parking facilities. You need to pay for the car park which costs around £6 per night
on check in there was only one member of staff so we waited quite a while to check in and there was a lot of noise right into the early hours of the morning from other guests
cigarette burns on the carpet, stains on the carpet, very small room, shower curtain not screen, air conditioning unit screeching!
There is nothing better in this city so its the only option! Hotels in general are very poor in the UK....the quality of the materials that they use in their buildings is really the cheapest of the cheapest.....a 3 start hotel in Germany looks better than a 5 star in the UK......the water pressure in the showers is always an issue and my bidet at home is bigger than the bathtubs!
Reception/housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Good location in the city. Good facilities. Bar/restaurant staff were rude and unwelcoming. Our friends were allocated a disabled room with a disabled bathroom which was not requested or needed as clearly neither of them were disabled or required such a room. We do not feel that this was acceptable.

We enjoyed the extra luxury of staying in a prime location in the city, we got upgraded to the bridal suite and no extra cost whic was fantastic and everyone was polite and very helpful, we would certainly come again and would be happy to recommend the hotel. we also loved the bathroom, the shower was great. we did not have breakfast as it was rather expensive and all the reviews said it wasnt worth it,
Friendly staff and easy parking
Very helpful doorman who provided free map of Newcastle and information leaflet plus friendly advice Confusing 'levels' rather than floor numbers. Unusual for breakfast not to be included in room price.

It's proximity to the city, you couldn't get closer to the shopping and sights if you tried! The hotel was very basic, it had no atmosphere and looked shabby and in nead of a refit. A distinct lack of luxury swing as it has a 4 star rating!

Parking of Car for the last night was paid for by Hotel. Car Parking Policy was not explained on Check-In even though the car Registration Number was completed on the Check-In Registration Form at the time. Breakfast staff (and most probably the supervisor) require to be trained: It took 3/4 of an hour and 3 reminders to get my breakfast of Kippers processed. The Staff commonly pass by tables with out clearing used / empty plates & bowles until the cooked breakfast plate is to be served or the tables are vacated. It is expected that the cooked breakfast plate be cleared once the contents has been eaten and pending the completion of drinking the balance of the tea / coffee pot!
The ambiance of the hotel, very peaceful and relaxing. A double booking had been put through on your website which caused some confusion at check in as they had allocated 2 rooms for us.

I really liked the comfort of the rooms. To be honest I had no problem with the hotel as such.
Good stay overall. We (there were 3 of us on business) arrived at around 1 Pm and were told check in was 2 Pm so waited, only then to be told it was 3 PM. I still got my room at 2 Pm but my collagues had to use the spa to freshen up as we had a business meeting at 2.30 PM. I asked for a wake up call at 7.30 am but did not get a call. That said, still a good hotel overall and staff were friendly.

Bar and Bistro staff very good service indeed. Nothing was too much trouble Dvd player in room wasn't working. Reported it 4 times and not got fixed. Had to checkout with dvd still stuck in machine so lost it. Hotel reception not very apologetic but gave me car park for free.
Being close to Quayside. The room was well stocked with all he amenties needed for a night's stay and although we did not eat in the hotel, room service and the menu looked appropriate. We were placed in a room designed for the disabled so the bathroom layout and design was not what we expected. The room also had an ajoining door. The people who were in the next room were still talking at 4am - not 'rowdy' but loud enough to disturb our sleep.
Close proximity to the city centre and the river views from the room Wireless internet is only in Hotel Lobby and costs £20 per day(this is not rocket science and Hotel are out of order here). Bed was a bit hard and AC was a bit hot (control problem) and overall decor/fittings etc are dated and worn and reflect the time the hotel has been trading in this location. Car parking is an excellent bonus and lots of private space available for guests. Concierge is great and knows his stuff. (In general Hotel needs refurbishing but overall a clean and tidy place to stay).

The location. Room looked shabby and very dated with thread bear seats, an uncomfortable bed,grubby bathroom with a tap that leaked water all over the sink area.We were woken repeatedly through the night by people shouting and banging on doors.This is not what you expect from such an expensive hotel,extremely poor value for money!

The design of the room the full length window overlooking the river. The ease of getting to The Sage and the shopping centre. Staff were extremely attentive. We would definitely stay again. Nothing there isn't anything I can find fault with

This was our third stay at the hotel and it appears to be letting its standards slip, there were not enough bar and waiting staff and the tables were all full of uncollected plates etc,we had to wait an age to get served if the barmaid was off her mobile long enough, the breakfast was similar not enough staff, expensive, and generally cold and pour quality/

The room was very clean and comfortable and newly furnished, staff very helpful. The panini that i ordered through room service was over cooked and hard. Also i paid cash in the morning and yet the hotel held back funds in my bank account which have not been released to date!
Contemporary modern rooms, good location in Newcastle city centre and close to bars and restaurants. Breakfast delivered to room was very poor. Room was located next to air conditioning shaft which was very noisy.

I was impressed with the Grey Street Hotel and will definitely be staying there again.
handy to town centre
The interior design of the rooms and the reception area and cellar bar was outstandingly elegant, uncluttered and enjoyable. We welcomed the opportunity to go to the adjoining restaurant for dinner. The water in the shower didn't drain away and Channel 5 was unobtainable - we wanted to watch the Test Match. An iron with an ironing board would be a welcome addition.
Interior design was very nice and surprisingly upscale. Rooms had very nice amenities, such as a rain shower, heated towel racks, fridge, and microwave. Free and fast WIFI, too. Hotel is in need of some upkeep, especially for a place that is aiming to present itself as upscale -- e.g. small but visible water stain in the ceiling of our room and some other minor upkeep issues. Nothing unclean or dangerous though.

Accommodating and friendly staff, a clean comfortable room with no interior or exterior noise. Complimentary welcome pack with tea or coffee available at any time was a nice touch. Breakfast time can be quite busy and maybe more staff and a quicker turn around of hot food could help this.
Very good size suite, still looks quite new, and furnished very comfortably. Quality mattress, and good location for the Quayside/Baltic Mill. Helpful staff, and one of the better buffet breakfasts we've had. Slightly out of the city centre for shops & restaurants (apart from those on the Quayside), and not the most enjoyable walk back at night.
Central position, friendly staff. Had Sky TV available in the bar area, which they switched for us to waatch 1st day of the Ashes in Brisbane. No a/c in the rooms. No Sky TV in the rooms. I thought room rate was expensive for what you got
Comfortable and clean room with a fan to cool us down as it was a very hot day. The staff were very friendly and polite. The room was not ready when we arrived but the staff were great and looked after our luggage for us while we went for lunch.

good location, good breakfast
The Duty Manager handled my morning complaint very well. She was attentive, curteous and resolved my issue suitably. Getting woken up at 405am by a crowd of people outside my door wasn't great and then the party next door caused me to call the Duy Porter at 440am. He was very helpful and ejected one perosn from the hotel.
The location of the hotel
Staff very pleasant and helpful, and knew area quite well. Hotel well insulated against noise outside of it. Room was quite spacious. Toilet bowl really needs a good bleaching (it was pretty brown) and cracked / loose floor tiles need replacing in bathroom. Also had dirty pillowcase which was replaced, so standards of cleanliness need to be improved.
Very convenient for the train station and bus for the metro centre. Staff were very friendly and allowed us into our room when we arrived. We also left our luggage until we left for the train. Excellent service from all staff. The only down side was the level of noise during the night. I would request a quiet room the next time I visit.
The location in the city centre oppersite the train station i used 1. we booked a double room and recieved a twin. Told staff and moved rooms. 2. the 2nd room we got wasn't as clean as 1st room. the bins hadn't been emptied and the bath has hair in it (quite a lot). We didnt switch rooms again has we were on a deadline.
