"This is the worst airline that I have flown with!"

Cons: "On the trip out, we were packed into the plane (every seat full)but had to wait 45 min for the pilot. On the flight back, while checking in online, I was paying for my carry on. On the ticket it said checked bag. I spent an hour online and on the phone trying to correct the problem. It was impossible. Had to go to the airport 1 hour early to go to the counter to fix it. They would not fix it without a fee!!! Since I had already paid the $44 I just checked it. When I got on the plane, I was telling the person next to me in the middle seat about the frustration with the bag and he had the same problem! Once again we left 45 min late. Once we landed, we had to wait for the gate. I have been traveling a lot lately, the other 3airlines I have used passed out Clorox wipes when entering. Frontier did not. Sitting on a full flight for An extra 45 min, both ways, made me feel exposed and unsafe. Very frustrating experience"

Everything was SO expensive, had to pay $1.99 for a bottle of water which is free in other flights. The crew on board didn’t do anything and didn’t come through to collect trash until the very end."

Cons: "You get *1* carry on. A 2nd carry on or checked bag is **$45.** The most unreasonable and expensive bag price in the industry. Highway robbery. Who the hell flies anywhere with only one checked bag? I mean, seriously. It is an unreasonable expectation to put it mildly. Second of all, *you have to PAY to select a goddamn seat.* What the hell? Who the hell does that? *0* other airlines CHARGE you for the pleasure of picking a seat. That is insane. So, that is $18 at a bare minimum to choose the most inexpensive class of seats on the plane. Third of all, **you have to pay for ALL drinks of any kind.* Free water? Hell no. Free sodas, juice, coffee, tea, etc? Hell no. You have to pay for all of it. So then I was dehydrated the whole flight, which was very unpleasant and put me in an even more foul mood. The way they nickle and dime you on this godforsaken airline is criminal. So, To Review, if I had flown round trip it would cost *at a minimum* $18 + $18 + $45 + $45 ($126 goddamn dollars) in fees that no other airline in the industry charges. That is insane; and that happens to be approximately what I paid for my flight. So for all unreasonable charges I could have had a bonus flight somewhere. I will never, ever fly on this godforsaken airline ever again; and please believe I will tell every single one of my friends and (gigantic) family that not only does this crappy airline get 0 Stars from me, but they should under no circumstances ever fly on this horrible airline ever. Pick literally *any* other airline over this hot nonsense."

Pros: "The airplane was clean."
Cons: "The seats were not reclinable and for a 3.5 hour flight in which I wanted to get in some sleep I was unable to sleep. Also the seats were very narrow and with almost no padding. I could feel the padding had wore off and my back was touching with the metal of the seat. Add all that up together and instead of a regular airplane seat it was like seating on a rigid chair for 3.5 hours. Moreover, since I couldn't sleep I decided to at least get in some work, but then I realized that the tray was so tiny that it can't even fit the smallest of laptops... I know it is a low cost airline, but paying for carry ons, checked bags, selecting seats and on flight beverages is plenty for a low cost airline. Frontier doesn't need to top it off with the most new uncomfortable seats possible. At least with Ryanair the seats are more comfortable, you can bring a carry on at no cost and the flight ticket is cheaper."

Cons: "The 4 hour delay that received once we arrived at 4:30 AM to catch our 6 o'clock flight home to find out it had been delayed until 9:28 AM. Once we were on the plane we were then told we would be delayed until 10 AM. Flying with two children was difficult for a four hour delay. However front tier did give us all $10 food vouchers and $50 vouchers each for our next flight. Once we landed in Houston we then sat on the tarmac for another hour waiting for the gate open. The plane did have mechanical issues which caused the delay but still the notice given was always last minute"

Cons: "We landed 30 minutes early but it was an hour before we got off the plane. It was frustrating and a waste of travel time. I'd be concerned about booking connecting flights with them if this is typical. Or any flight that becomes an hour longer for no real reason."

Cons: "seats do not recline even a little... charge for carry on, ridiculous to pay $40-45 for 3 days of clothes for a funeral and to pay both ways then wait at the terminal when I had things to do......... paying for a sip of soda...again ridiculous..... MY BODY HURT SO BAD FROM THE LACK OF CUSHION IN THE SEATS the tray tables are a joke as well, my IPad didn't even sit on it, I had to hold it on all 4 planes for the trip. We were delayed at each end of the trip, 3-5 hours each time."

Cons: "Understood why flight was canceled on December 24 into Denver due to weather. However the next day I checked our flight and everything was scheduled considering weather was perfect in Denver. Got to airport and found out flight was once again canceled with the explanation that many planes did not get to where they needed to be. If that was the case we should have been notified to avoid making the trip to the airport. Lousy coordination."

Flight was eventually over and hour and a half late. After considering the additional charges for seat selection, checked/carry on bag, and outrageous charges for even a soda in flight - the economical flight I thought I was booking was any but a bargain. Historically I have flown on United...I took a chance with Frontier and will not make the same mistake twice...I now understand why Frontier is in financial trouble..."

Cons: "The plane was late, there was never an announcement to let us know and the board said "on time" until we boarded. We waited at the gate for 40 minutes before the pilot came over the intercome to say it was a "paper work issue", we waited another 30 minutes and they didn't come back on to say thanks for your patience or apologize for the delay, we just started taxing. The pilot was not good, we experienced weird pitches during the flight. When we landed we waited another 20 minutes for the door to open at the gate. And to top it all off, they sent our bags to a different carousel than the board and the carousel it self stated. Nightmare and will not fly with frontier again, this new movement is a joke."

Pros: "The price of the flight was great, until I realized I was being charged for every little thing. What a rip off! I should have flown United."
Cons: "I had a severe allergic reaction due to the passengers in my row carrying four cats. I had to take Benadryl and broke out into hives. The flight attendants didn't even offer to move my seat. It was a truly terrible experience and I can't believe that there's not a better protocol in place with the airline to accommodate customers with severe allergies to animals, even when they are labeled as emotional support animals. This as a truly terrible experience. Thank goodness the flight was only 4 hours. I'll never fly Frontier again."

Cons: "It may be customary now, but we arrived with all our luggage as carry-on bags. We learned that they now charge more for carry on luggage than they do for checked bags. So we ended up checking two carry-on bags that we could have easily consolidated into one larger bag if we had known ahead of time. 2nd and worst of all - when we were checking in they told us our seats were not yet assigned (even though I picked seats out when I purchased the tickets). They showed a seating chart, but the only seats together required a premium payment of an extra $30 per seat! We complained and they told us to let the computer assign seats for us. That worked and the computer ended up assigning us two premium seats together. By the way - I did see what was "premium" about these seats. They reminded me of spirit airlines. Overall it seems like frontier is now trying to find ways to charge customers for things that were previously included and it is somewhat intentionally deceptive. I appreciated the low cost of the ticket, but I was left with a bad feeling overall. Spirit airlines is an inexpensive no frills airline as well but at least they are upfront and direct. I will fly with them next time if I have to, or go back to United."

Cons: "I booked this flight because it seemed an unbelievable value. Well, the price was, indeed, too good to be true. Upon receiving the reminder to book, I discovered they charge not only for checked in bags but for carry-ons. Oh, and they charge more if you don't book more than 24 hours in advance. Oh, and they charge for choosing your seat (that I didn't go for). The food for purchase stinks (only bad snacks for a four hour flight), the seats are uncomfortable, it did take off and arrive on time, I'll give it that. But after adding on $120 for my checked carry-on fee, it was no bargain, I will never fly this airline again."

Cons: "If I had known that Frontier charges for carry on baggage, I would have chosen another flight. I usually fly United or Air France and I shall do the same from now on. There was 0 leg room and the "tray" is only a few inches deep, which hardly fits a laptop. I was surprised they didn't charge for the use of the bathroom. I am sure that is next. I have to say the majority of people around me were expressing the same sentiments. I was also assigned the middle seat in the very last aisle. A flight attendant moved me to a better seat as soon as he could. I was very happy it was only a 2 hour flight."

Cons: "I have never and probably will never have such a negative experience with an airline as I did with Frontier. The staff was rude and unruly. I was dealt with unprofessionally. Every process used was executed poorly. Then to top it all off I was contacted about the location of where my bad ended up.. Once I went to retrieve it, they no longer knew of the location. It took the employees an hour to find my bag and then I discovered it had been ripped open with missing items and they failed to mention that information when they called me with the location of it. Poor customer service and I would be embarassed to be a frontier employee."

Cons: "I'm only 5'9" but there was no room to stretch my legs. The rows of seats are too close together. Basically I had to sit down for 4 hours and not move. And it didn't help that the kid behind us kept banging the tiny tray table on the backs of our seats, even though that's not your fault."

Pros: "got there safely and our checked luggage went with us ; plus the employees were nice but that's about it. Could've been worse but won't Frontier to make it so in the future."
Cons: "We were late arriving on both flights, online check in didn't work, had to pay extra for ANY seat and for all other things that aren't normally paid for on other airlines and the airline overall is obviously barely making it. I thought that major carriers such as Delta and United were bad but Frontier and so many others that are cut rate airlines make them look not so bad which is why I'll go back to flying with them and Frontier will probably never see my money again."

Cons: "My flight was delayed because the pilot was too fatigued. Instead of calling ahead so someone could be there, he just canceled the flight. Full plane leaving Vegas. He just wanted to party in Vegas instead of Houston. I missed a very important event. He didn't go over hours, he just didn't feel like flying any longer. Gate attendant said this wasn't the first time he had done that to them. They did it to me!"

Pros: "Nothing. Worst Airline. Will never travel in this Airline. We will ask everybody to whom we know not to travel in this Airline"

Pros: "The lines were short. Staff was friendly. The prices were great! This is a very professional air line and I will definitely use them again. A few things to improve on: simple things like complimentary coffee or water would be nice. Also, a magazine for flyers would give us a nice touch of entertainment. These are small things that matter."

Cons: "The staff at the Frontier check in desk was extremely rude. (Which I can imagine is because they spend their day getting fussed at because of how awful Frontier is). I was charged over $100 per way for my family to bring very small carry on items onto the plane. I have NEVER heard of being charged for very small backpack sized carry ons. When I questioned the staff member, she looked at me and literally did not respond. She stared at me like I was speaking another language. I waited over an hour and a half for our checked bags to come to the baggage claim area. Everyone was looking for Frontier staff to help us as our bags didn't seem to be coming. The two staff members we found were HORRIBLE and extremely rude. They stood there leaning against the wall staring at us and telling us they couldn't help us - It isn't their department? The seats are uncomfortable- they do not recline at all. They charge for EVERYTHING on the plane- including drinks (non-alcoholic). Overall, the staff was rude, the charges were outrageous, and the flight was uncomfortable. I have never had such a horrible experience and will NEVER fly Frontier again. ."

Cons: "I'm claustrophobic and was stuck in an aisle seat. My air vent wasn't working and I tapped the flight attendant, a woman in her late 50's to mid 60's, asking her to help me with it. She said she was about to give the presentation on safety procedures and that it was "more important than air right now." This happened pre-takeoff. I was upset about it and she never did help me with the air vent. Then, they do the service where they charge for everything and no one can get up to go to the restroom until they pass through, and they take a long time to do it. I was very unhappy, but kept to myself."

Cons: "I haven't flown Frontier in a while. I didn't realize I have to buy my seat too? What the heck is that? Sure it's only another $13 min. But here's the catch, you get a seat They've replaced the pull down table with a small flip down "table" that is about 1/3 the size of a standard table. While this does offer more legroom, it makes eating difficult and uncomfortable. I could not rest a standard square salad container on it during the flight. Luckily, I had a plastic bag from the vendor that I could put over my slacks to act as a big placemat. I didn't want to spill dressing on my pants. No WIFI onboard In short, I will be avoiding Frontier in the future. I do fly budget airlines like SW, but at least the attitude there is better. And what you get is clear."

Pros: "Smooth flight. Non stop. Boarding was easy, as I was a wheelchair passenger and went in first. Flight attendants, one was very pleasant, another one not so much. The snacks were fine."

Cons: "Start with paying for a carry-on, which made this "cheap" flight as expensive as a better airline. And paying for a seat assignment?! Didn't get a chance to experience paying for water onboard, as the entire flight was cancelled. Thanks to their lack of connection to other airlines, they couldn't get us where we were going prior to our RETURN date. So our lodging, car rental, etc all were completely wasted, at our expense - no vacation, but still had to pay for it. "Nothing we can do, sorry, it's the weather..." Really?! Weather explains a delay, not torpedoing the entire vacation. This airline is the absolute pits."

Cons: "Nickeled and dimes you to death. $90 in baggage fees and I booked online! Would have been more at the gate! Plane was filthy. I've never seen a plane that filthy. Not dirty. Filthy. Disgusting. Then, the joke was, if the plane is going down the oxygen masks will be coin operated. I heard several other people say they would never fly Frontier again either."

I kept asking the flight group next door if they Had a clue weather or not they were their, and all I got for an hour str8 is " they'll be back shortly ". They never came. I missed my flight. And important meetings in Texas. Now I'm Re-schedule for Friday. When I'm Suppose to Be their Before Thursday. And besides all the "BS" they Charge You Extra and Hella Expensive on the Baggage and carry on. It's like ur Buying a House with all the Hidden Fees they Don't Mention. ***Worst Experience Yet"

Pros: "Flight was delayed about 3 hours. First was a delay of 1 and half hours for maintenance, then they brought a different plane. Then we were delayed an hour on the tarmack for an hour due to weather. Not their fault But all we were offered was water. Brew was very nice. Just really felt that due to "double whammy". Should have at least got a coke. They also charge $40 for carry on bag. Really."

Cons: "Brand new Airbus had computer problems that required us to return to the gate after 45 minutes on the tarmac. Cold restart was required. That required another 45 minutes. Then we had to wait for 1/2 an hour for a maintenance crew to arrive so they could sign off on the problem??? Seriously? Why wasn't the maintenance crew already waiting for the plane once the decision was made to return to the gate? One would have thought after such an inconvenience that Frontier could afford to let go of some of its $5 sodas or pretzels for free to the passengers, are you kidding...NOT! We were offered about 4 ounces of warm water. Yup, they would not even let go of their ice. I guess the lesson is that you live and learn, I will never fly Frontier again."

Cons: "Frontier now makes you pay for any bag you carry on or check on, meaning you need to add at least $70 to your round trip price. Then, keep I'm mind that you don't get to select a seat unless you pay another $20. When you finally do get on the plane after an hour delay and get your seat, you'll experience the most uncomfortable flight of your life in what can only be described as the equivalent of a folding plastic chair with fake leather glued to it. It doesn't recline, it has practically no padding, it has no head or neck support, the armrest is about 6" long and 1" wide to share with the overweight woman next to you, and the tray table is the size of an iPad mini. Whatever, brush it off and try to relax when they come by with your drink and pretzels, right? Wrong. Because the new Frontier Airlines has decided that they waste too much money on a cup of soda that must cost them a whopping 5 cents at the bulk rate they buy it in. You want that can of soda? $2 it is then. Bag of pretzels? $4 because f**k you, where the f**k else are you going to buy a snack at 34,000 feet in the air. To be perfectly fair, we arrived safe and sound, albeit late, and the people were friendly. That said, the measures Frontier has taken to inconvenience the customer just to make their ticket slightly cheaper is not worth it. I will not be returning. It's worth paying whatever the next best airline charges to avoid Frontier."

"Horrible experience. I booked my flight nearly 2 months in advance. Paid in full. We had so much trouble checking in online. I paid extra for reserved seats so my wife and I could sit together. Somehow, we had two different seats. It was a horrible hassle to get us to sit together. They didnt have my reservation or reserved seating. My check in apparently failed and didn't show on their part that we paid and reserved our flight. If it wasn't for my wife getting frustrated and a little wild we would have missed our flight. Keep in mind we showed our confirmation showing paid in full with reserved seating. It was really a terrible experience. I am all for cheaper flights, but I am truly not going to be flying with them anymore. It is a horrible feeling almost missing your flight for an issue that was not your own."

Seats are uncomfortable, not much space from seat in front, and there is no recline. Feels crammed. Lacks hospitality majorly as I am charged for every little thing. I hope they don’t start charging for oxygen intake. I was not informed of entertainment options, but I’m sure they were not inexpensive. I will not be flying with Spirit Airlines again. There are other airline options that are less expensive (after you add all the additional fees up) and much more comfortable and hospitable."

The aircraft is always delayed to depart due to beionh last in line after reputable airlines, files the have check in counters in popular airports or located on bottom levels, not accommodating for travelers that missed flights, and last but not least their luggage weight requirements are extremely low compared to all other airlines. The normal requirement is 50lbs and Spirit is 40 so one checked bag is $70. By the time you pay for every single detail you could be on a Delta Airline with complementary Biscotti and water!"

Cons: "Took my money and never deliver the paid services! If you’re late to reach your flght, your whole itinary, doesn’t matter how may flights you may have in it will be cancelled! No refunds, no flight changes, doesn’t matter if you did everthing you can to reach the consecutive flights on time!!! No REFUND for the flights you did not miss. This airline capitalize on your misfortune to make their profit without having to deliver the services you paid for up front! Also, they have lots of hidden fees after you purchase your ticket. Picking your seats so your family could fly together will cost more than the price of another ticket! Don’t forget the carry-on cost of $40 or more! Terrible business practice, they bully the customer because they can get away with it! Do business with them at your own risk!"

Cons: "Not roomy, on the returning flight the person behind me kicked my chair the entire flight on top of being surrounded by children on the flight there and back. They should at least let you know you're surrounded by crying babies I would have never booked or paid more to not sit around it. I understand people have to travel with kids but it was my only vacation wouldn't fly spirit again. On top of I called spirit airlines to help extend my flight and the guy couldnt/wouldn't help me told me to check online, but their system that day was not cooperating"

Cons: "I'm not sure how it's legal that spirit doesn't include the exit tax for a country when every single other airline does include it in their KAYAK posted price. There is literally a tax window in San Pedro Sulu, Honduras that says for "spirit airlines passengers" charging $47 per person that my family of 5 had to pay to get out of honduras. Continental would have been cheaper. The exit tax for a country is a required tax. Why is the tax included in the KAYAK posted continental price but not spirit? Only spirit airlines passengers had to pay it. That's messed up. Kayak should be more aware that prices they list aren't truly accurate as all the required taxes were not included. I'm not talking about baggage fees or meal fees or seat selection fees which aren't required if you don't want to pay it, I'm talking about a required tax to get back on the plane."

Cons: "They are cheap, at first, but it will cost you. You have to pay for bags. (If you fly Southwest you don't have to pay for bags). Our flight got canceled. Like many others did. We were stuck at the airport for 12 hours. Their lack of professionalism, customer service and empathy made the experience worse. They're policy is that they do not accommodate - ever. Intel from the airport says they are always having problems. Say they constantly cancel flights and that they come up with different excuses as to why. This time was the storm which had already passed and had not affected many of the destinations people were flying in or out of."

Cons: "Yes, the initial fare is cheaper, but that's only because they nickle and dime you for each tiny thing. Once you pay for bags and seats(!), you've spent the same amount of money as the other airlines, and have had to do extra work. I'd rather pay more up front and not have to pay for each little service. The seats do not lean back and there's not a lot of leg room. I'm short and I was still uncomfortable. Unfortunately our flight was delayed over 3 hrs. This was due to weather, so that's just something that happens, but I was already frustrated so it just made things worse. I won't use Spirit again."

Pros: "Finally - an airline got it right! My husband and I appreciated that we only paid for what WE wanted to use. We did not have to pay for what the airline thought we might want. They got rid of the horrible airplane food that we always felt obligated to eat because we paid for it. We never used the screens in the seat back because we are readers. Also - when was the last time you heard the captain announce that the flight arrived early!! While the seats are a little tight, we didn't mind it. Will fly them again in the future."

Their website shows the free carry-on measurement without indicating the wheels or handles inclusion, but you'll find that part in the small print below, and then at the gate, they have you "flagged" because you didn't pay an extra fee for a checked bag. When they scanned our boarding passes, they immediately told us to step aside to measure our bags, telling us to pay $130. We ripped off the wheels and handles in front of them and they still harassed us over a sixteenth of a inch piece of plastic that made it slightly too wide to fit into their frame/mold...1/16th of an inch! Rediculous!! We will never fly them again! Be warned!"

Pros: "I could tell the plane was relatively new because of the details. The crew members were always available and helpful."
Cons: "No room for the legs, no recliners, small restroom. When boarding, 3 people had the same seat, one of the crew members solved the problem because luckily the flight was not a 100% full. 0 entertainment for the 6 hours flight (it was the same plane from FLL to Houston and San Diego) so I had to try and sleep (which was impossible). When I felt thirsty and wanted a cup of water, they told me it was a $3 dollar charge per bottle, I've never been denied water in my whole life, I found it nonsence. Overall, I would never fly Spirit again."

Pros: "i like the assigned seating, i makes not rush to get on the plane first because ur seat is ur seat."
Cons: "seemingly all the rows of seating are too short. i'm only 5-11 tall and my knees were constantly against the seat in front of me. i sat in the middle seat on row 22. the lade next to me sat on the isle and even her knees were hitting and was uncomfortable. at one point the person in front of her leaned his seat back and it was all completely in her space, make her extremely uncomfortable. we had to ask flight attendant to ask the man to put his seat up some to give her some more room and comfort."

There were no accommodations for the inconvenience and although the agent did his best to diffuse the already high emotions from he was unable to offer better options to appease the customers 3. The only option I was given was to travel over 2 hours to another airport again there was no accommodations provided 4. On the flight the seats are too close and they did not recline; my flight was little over 3 hours and I was so ready to get off the plane 5. Flight attendants were not approachable 6. Fees that are added after purchasing ticket: Seat, fast pass 7. Lack of confidence in the airline"

Cons: "Upon arrival to the airport, I was told to stand in a line. Once I flagged someone down and asked if I could use a kiosk since I was not checking a bag, they directed me to the right location. Upon attempting to check-in, the kiosk printed a ticket that read "see attendant." I was placed on a line to wait again. Once I finally reached the attendant she told me that I was late in checking in. Apparently, the system does not allow you to check-in less then 45 minutes before departure and I was one minute shy of that. The then proceeded to tell me that I could not get on the flight despite having time to make it and would be charged a $100 rebooking fee. I was livid. I had to wait over six hours for no reason. My seat was empty when the plane took off. There was no reason to keep me off the flight."

Pros: "Despite my gripes, the staff was professional and polite."
Cons: "Firstly, I understand a discount airline will try it's best to place fees anywhere possible, but it seemed as though I was living in the fine print. Concerning luggage fees, the staff at every counter had a different opinion on what could be considered a personal items. While heading to LAX had one standard, returning to IAH had another. Rules seemed to be arbitrary. For example, a backpack was ok, but wheels on a backpack might change it's "category." On the speakers, "small backpacks" was permissible, but this is subjective. This is in addition to the fact that some Spirit employees told customers "any backpack is okay because it's a backpack." I fly frequently and have the smallest lightest carry-on case made by Hershey. I have never had problems with it's dimensions. It BARELY poked it's top out of that cage-fitting stand. I mean, it skimmed the top. Really, it was the handle that peaked out. I should have taken a picture. I had to pay $65 dollars for that one. Then, another $65 for a small backpack for my little cousin because it had wheels that couldn't retract! 2) The obvious confusion on whether to use kiosks or not was also apparent. People did not understand if both were needed. The confusion resulted in people asking other people to watch their luggage while they went over to the kiosk! In a post-911 world, this is not only poor airport etiquette, but downright dangerous. There should be signs stating: "If you need to check-in luggage, print and get in line, unsure if you need to pay, get in line, or if you have one personal item (showing measurements), print your boarding pass and continue to security. 3) No complimentary anything is given during flight. Sell. Sell. Sell. I and the three family members that accompanied me will NEVER book with Spirit again."

Cons: "High and unreasonable fees such as charging to choose where to sit and for carry on bags. Very little space on airline, small tray tables and no backseat pockets for you to store your water or anything like that. Spirit over books flights and scares passengers by causing them to think their purchased flight isn't definite. Bribes people with free round trip flights to fix their mistake but even I wouldn't want their free flights because my experience with them was that horrible I wouldn't want to suffer through another Spirit flight."

Pros: "The staff on the flight were very nice."
Cons: "Where to start... I understand the concept of a base fee and you pay a la carte for everything else but this only really works for a single person traveling with a small personal item ONLY. You are literally charged for EVERYTHING. Which is mostly stated on their website with the exception of the checked bag and carry on fees of $50 and $55, respectively. Those fees can vary depending on who you ask....And even though they say you can save by using the kiosk ($20 to go to the counter), we ended up going to the counter anyway because the kiosk could not complete our transaction!!! On our return, we had to go through customs which requires you to get your checked bag (decided to save the $5 and check it on the way home), go through customs and then drop off your checked bag to continue your flight. Well, the Spirit representative decided it would be a great time to take a break and be completely MIA from their post. We had to go completely out of the terminal and back to a counter to recheck our bag. Resulting in a very close call on not making our connecting flight. The long and short of it all: We "Saved" $100.00 total on the initial ticket purchase. We paid over $220.00 ADDITIONAL to have our one carry on and sit next to each other ($20.00 each seat, each leg of trip). Never flying Spirit again and have been telling everyone not to. Bad Spirit!"

Cons: "The woman working the baggage claim area was so rude and acted like she didn't even want to be there. My luggage was ruined (they ripped open the top of the suitcase and there was a huge hole in it) and she said all she could do is give me a $25 credit for our next flight and we'd have to put through a claim first and wait. Then when we asked for a supervisor she said there's no point in calling him because he won't help us. The supervisor finally came and refunded us what we paid for our luggage but that still doesn't even come close to covering the cost of our luggage."

Pros: "Seats were fine, and the cabin felt nice and cool. The attendants were nice as the interacted with fellow passengers. The flight felt smooth, and they got us to our destination safely."
Cons: "The employees at the gate were extremely unorganized, and played a confusing back-and-forth game on the intercom during the boarding. Although the attendants were curtious to those in need, they lacked in competence. Many passengers either a) could not follow instructions as request, or b) control their children. The attendants just seemed to let it slide, an not show any enforcement. In lieu of the 5-7 minute announcement touching on passenger safety, and respect towards fellow customers, a little more effort from the employees would have gone a long way on his flight. Finally, once we arrived, our gate was occupied. Then, the jetwave operated did not show up for some time. Therefore, we did not disembark the plane until an hour after landing. Apologies for the lengthy complaint, but this seems to be a trend for Spirit, and it's a bit ridiculous. However, thank you for getting us to our destination safely."

Cons: "The flight was delayed 2 hours and they did not communicate this information very well. I was told to go to gate L7 and waited and waited without any information. Then they told us to go to gate L1 and then to go to gate L11 - it was very disorganized . The employees were not helpful and they seemed annoyed at all the questions. It was very crowded in the terminal and they kept telling us to move back to let other passengers off the plane but there was no where to go. All in all it was not a good experience to fly with Spirit."

Pros: "The lady working at the gate 17 checkin for the flight from TPA to IAH was excellent!"
Cons: "I arrived to checkin in my bag early so I could relax in the airport only to be created with a sign stating that no one would be available to assist me until 4 PM which was two hours later? I then proceeded to pay by the kiosk to check my bag to be safe but then was unable to leave it. I then had to still carry the bag around only to return and be at the back of an extremely long line of people waiting. I finally get through then proceeded to my gate 17 to checkin. Once one the plane I noticed several people with bags the size of mine as carry on which meant I just wasted $52. I was extremely disgusted because I could have possibly had this issue resolved and saved my hard earned money if someone was at the baggage checkin desk."

Pros: "The flight was cheap."
Cons: "1 hour delay to start. Then ground crew dud something to knock out a flight display screen in the cabin. 45 mins later the screen is fixed, but we're waiting on paperwork. 30 mins later paper work is complete but we need a new passenger count. 30 to 45 mins to get a passenger count! Meanwhile the flight crew is snippy, but they serve a thimble of water and cookies. Finally they offer $50 vouchers for your next flight, you just have to get in contact with "Adam" who is somewhere around the airport we just left. So. . . Yeah."

Pros: "My flight from San Diego to Houston, TX was Awesome minus the seats, couldn't get comfortable! I'm tall, so my knees were pressed against the seat in front of me. That's really my only complaint! Oh my bad, I forgot to add the ticket counter..the ticket doesn't open until 5:45 so as a result of that, the line was super long! Free bags and head of the line privileges(Military), quick cheap flight from San Diego to Houston at the last minute=winning! If Spirit continue to improve their airline and I can get an exit row, I will be taking this flight more often!"
Cons: "Long lines, due to Spirit opening less than two hours(5:45) before their morning flight( it builds anxiety of missing the flight), you pay for refreshments, and the lack of comfort because of the seats being too close!"

Cons: "I believed and considered it a rip off having to check 3 other bags that weight less than 20 pounds at the chk in and charged me $50 each . I only had to chk in a big luggage that weigh 45 pounds and paid $55.00 going to Houston Texas then to sandiago California. How is it that i was able to carry on my other three small luggages (one per person.....a total of three people ) to then charge me .....$211.00 coming from sandiego back home? The gentle man who chked all my bags said " I got lucky at the begining of my trip !!.....WHAT IS GOING ON ? ....I have been flying spirit for over 20 years and i have NEVER encounted such horrable service that alone charged a ridiculously price for my small luggages. .....I will never fly spirit airline AGAIN ......."

Cons: "Check in at Atlanta airport was a mess - there were several lines and it was not clear which line i should take to check in for my flight. Despite i arrived 2 hours before take off, I almost missed the flight."

Pros: "The woman at the airport desk was wonderful and very helpful. She took off 10 dollars from each bag because she said she could see that we tried to login. She put notes in the record and said we could possibly get more refunded but I have not heard from anyone about it. Now I get to call and be on hold for ever. She also informed us that the flight confirmation number we had was a kayak, not spirit number???????? There was no indication about this. Also boarding was very efficient."
Cons: "When I purchased the ticket from Kayak I was not informed about the need to purchase a seat or bags or given the opportunity to do so. There was no notification that one could not have a personal item and a small bag -- only one. When I tried to get my boarding pass on line, I was unable to do so. At that time I learned about the baggage policy. The system had me in a loop that I could not get out of. I was not allowed to request an account so I concluded that I might have gotten one when I logged in. I tried to sign in repeatedly and asked for a new password because it kept saying it was wrong. I never got it and I had to leave for the airport or risk missing the flight. So, I was charged $40 per bag (two of us were flying) for both the outbound and return trips. That is roughly twice what I would have been charged if I had been informed and had been given the chance to buy the bags when I bought the ticket. It would have been much cheaper to buy a ticket on another carrier once I paid 160 for two small (what would easily fit in overhead). I had a carry on (personal item) so had to pay. Our flight was delayed and the gate was moved several times. We were not kept informed about the weather conditions, the fact that the plane was on the ground, or what time the flight was supposed to arrive after all the delays. The flight crew was too busy visiting with each other to deal with a problem in the seat next to me -- I kept trying to get their attention. A tall man kept his feet in the aisle and, most importantly, he was talking loudly on his cell phone until the plane was barreling down the runway to take off. They had told us to put electronics in flight mode way before that. He just kept talking. I tried to get the crews attention but no problem."

Cons: "Do not understand their business model. Spoke to numerous people coming and going and everyone was upset about something. All of the hidden costs were the most mentioned along with frequent flight delays. Never fly Spirit with a connection! But it all trickles down. Because their luggage size and weight standards are less than the industry standards [Scam] and the attending charges check in is at a snails pace. Took us 30 minutes to check in with no line because one person was unpacking their bag to get under weight charge. Also since they are dealing with irritable and angry customers all day long the employees attitudes are terrible. The most common remark I heard, and I concur, was I will never fly this airline again. This is the part that leads to my confusion of the overall business model. At some point you run out of first time customers."

Cons: "Pay for your luggage, Pay for picking a seat, Pay because you luggage weighs too much, Pay for priority boarding, donate to help make them greener, donate! really? Ha! Finally, the fact that the seats are so narrow and so close to the seat in front of you. It is almost impossible to get in with out falling all over yourself and the person next to you has their elbow in your side and I am not a tall person and my knees almost touch the seat in front of you and because they are so close together, they do not recline anymore. Thank goodness the flight was only 2.5 hours!"

Pros: "We were able to fit our duffle bags under the seats, so we did not have to pay the extra $55 each to have a bag with us."
Cons: "They did not even offer a complementary glass of water and instead tried to charge us $3 each to have water on the flight. The no carry on baggage policy is just a scam for them to get more money and we heard multiple arguments between passengers/crew over baggage charges. In general, the crew was argumentative, making the flight a less than pleasant environment. The actual plane was outrageously uncomfortable for a multiple hour flight -- the seats didn't recline and there was no sort of headrest cushioning."

Cons: "I was seated in an aisle seat (5D) with two morbidly obese men sitting in the middle and window seats next to me. Both men were over six feet tall and approximately 350 lbs. Neither one fit in the dimensions of their seat, therefore I was forced to relinquish a third of my seat. Question: Why don't the airline personnel require these people to purchase 2 seats? You can post a notice online (where most of us buy our tickets). If passengers exceed certain ht/wt parameters, they must buy 2 seats. You enforce bag size/wt. restrictions. Why not people?Obesity is epidemic in our country. I consider it false advertising when Spirit tells me I am purchasing a seat...I paid full price for one-half to two-thirds of a seat."

Cons: "Seats don't recline and are close to each other. I didn't have much leg room, and I have short legs. The food was the standard fare -- soda pop, chips, etc. but you have to pay for it and they only take credit cards. That brings up my biggest dislike for Spirit: charging for everything. The ticket was lower priced than any of the other airlines I could find. The reason why is that they charge for everything. Carry on bags are $45 if you check in online, and $55 at the airport (that's each way.) Checked bags cost money. Want to pick your seat? That will cost you. Want a drink and snack on your 3 hour flight? Give us money. In the end, it actually would have been cheaper to fly on another airline that offers free carry on baggage and complimentary snacks. Then there's the check in procedure. I tried to check in online. Got my seats picked out, 1 carry on, things were good. I even opted to rent a car through them because they offered a rental at a really cheap rate (but the taxes and fees were twice the cost of renting the car, which they don't tell you up front.) Got to the point where you print your boarding pass and got a message saying "something went wrong (gee it's so hard being popular.)" Too many people using their website at once. The message said to print out the message and take it to the counter to avoid being charged a fee at the airport. OK. Went to the airport to finish checking in, showed the print out to the person working there, and was told to use a self-check in kiosk. I went to the kiosk, and found I had to start over. Picked out my seats (different ones than the one I had picked before,) claimed one carry on at a higher price, and called the Spirit employee over. She said that because it didn't work online, I had to pay the higher fee. Total BS! I won't fly Spirit again, that's for sure."

Pros: "Staff were very pleasant."
Cons: "My issue is with the purchase of my flight and the failure of your website to make the need or lack of need to purchase additional items. I purchased through orbitz and was not allowed at that time to advise of my need for wheelchair assistance or pick a seat. I got on your website and ended up purchasing an aisle seat to accomodate my disabilty and paid to bring on a carry on bag. The bill indicated i was charged twice so i had to call when i was informed i did not have to pay for a seat and i did have to pay for tge caary on. I could not figure out your system and most likely will not fly on your plane again because of that fact. I paid an extra 45 to accomodate a disability which is unsettling but more a problem when you cannot figure out the additioal charges until it is too late to cancel them. Then, on a plane that was not full, they gave my seat to another passenger which t ook quige sometime to fix"

Pros: "Apparently low fare"
Cons: "They don't disclose that it costs $45 to carry on a bag and $65 to check it. You pay extra to chose a seat assignment and you are charged extra to check in in person at airport. The parking attendant told me that Spirit cancelled an earlier flight because they didn't have a flight attendant and on my return trip the flight was delayed by more than 3 hours. Almost impossible to get someone on the phone to cancel the flight. The seat spacing is extremely tight and seats do not recline. A can of Coke is $3."

Pros: "Spirit's $199 round-trip fare was very reasonable, especially since I was traveling Christmas Eve at the height of the holidays. (I should add that Kayak.com's review, which they emailed to me, is poorly written. If they're assigning my critique 5 categories, Excellent, Good and Okay are clear.... but "Poor" and "Mediocre" are too similar. Kayak ought to buy a thesaurus. Which is a worse or better rating, Poor or Mediocre?? Way too vague!)"
Cons: "At my gate at LAX, I got on line because Spirit said my flight to Houston was boarding soon. Then the video screen said, "Flight and boarding time delayed 45 minutes." Fine, delays happen. I rejoined the line later, but the "delayed 45 minutes" had vanished from the video screen, which now said "CLOSED." Damn, did I miss my flight because the delay was cured and the original boarding time reinstated? (No, but it looked that way.) None of Spirit's constant speaker announcements explained anything. So my fellow passengers and I waited there confused. Finally, with the long line barely moving, my gate's video screen changed to "Spirit Flight to Denver boarding in 1 hour." Did I miss my flight? (No, but it looked the way.) Congratulations Spirit, on putting the 100 passengers standing in line into a panic. Your pathetic lack of communication is abominable. Haven't any Spirit employees ever flown your airline and noticed how inept the service is? Even my flight attendant was curt with me when I politely requested a soda. Moral: Spirit's price is wonderfully affordable, but you get what you pay for."
