My original flight was delayed to the point of missing my connecting flight. They rerouted me to Shanghai and refused to pay for ground transportation to get to Nanjing, despite my original flight being booked to Nanjing. Absolutely horrible customer service and no attempt to help. I ended up losing hundreds more on booking my own transportation from Shanghai to Nanjing.

I enjoyed Honolulu to Shanghai journey meal was provided as expected vegetarian meal (on request) really appreciate your service, hope I will receive the same on my upcoming return trip to Honolulu.

got us there on time, Customer care was helpful but wish there was an easier way to fix a problem at the airport instead of calling in to a help desk.

they didn't have the arrival cards for me, which they usually do. Traveling with 4 kids by myself and having to do customs by myself without the time on the plane to work through the cards made it difficult. Also there was a typing error on one of my children's tickets that was an airline error but still requires a phone call from me and a fine to fix even with the plane leaving in one hour and having three other children at the gate waiting. There has to be an easier way to fix a mistake that happens in the airport.

The food is always bad, and they didn’t allow use of electronics (phones, and they didn’t like me using my iPod I suppose because it looks like a phone?) on a 6 hr international flight when there was NO individual entertainment and no screens. What’s worse is I went into the bathroom right after a flight attendant and there was urine all over the seat! She either did it and left it, or she saw it and hovered over it, leaving it for the next person. Not classy.

Nice wide seats, well run flight. Lots of food served, though very mixed quality. The unfortunate experiences described in the negatives of this review, do not repeat on the return flight.

In the fine print is the fact that the flight includes a stop in Shenzen. On the outbound flight this was a nightmare experience with Chinese immigration. Exhausted from a 14 hour flight, passengers had their passports taken away; were put through a bizarre 45 minute finger printing process using machines that did not work; and then left to wait for an hour or more with no information. The continuation flight was in another part of the airport - a very long walk; and it turned out not to be at the departing gate that was displayed on the monitors. We arrived at the indicated (wrong) gate with no guidance. Very nearly missed the continuation flight. Once in Xiamen, our arrival was late enough that the second floor of the airport was closed. There were no ATMs on the first floor; no way to get the Chinese cash needed to take a taxi to the airport. Fortunately a kind citizen agreed to exchange some cash, using mental calculations and sign language about the exchange rate.

Crew from lax to xiamen were good they took care of my meal from xiamen to bkk . They offered me their food which was pretty generous of them

I called 24 hrs prior to my flight to ask for Vegetarian meal but that was not available... There was so much problem with food . And the toilets were very very dirty :(

Nov 29, 2017. While flying China Eastern through Quingdao Liuting International Airport with overnight transit, I knew that airport shuts down overnight and was prepared for it with off the airport hotel reservation and all. But I was surprised at the time of check in at the origination airport (San Francisco) that I would be required to pickup the checked in luggage at Quingdao and check it back in next day for connecting flight to Shanghai. There was a Left Luggage facility at Quingdao Liuting Aurport on second floor departure level, to take away some pain. But more surprise as they charged me for two full days just for overnight service. Argument was that I am leaving the luggage today evening at 7:00pm but will pick 5:30am tomorrow morning thus making two calendar day charges. Staff did not know English but was very nice and helpful. It was very clear that they were policy bound and the money was not going in her pocket. For two pieces it was RMB 80 (20 per piece per day). Fortunate my English to Chinese translator phone app T Mobile One Plan and extra RMBs I had kept hoping to defray such unexpected situations helped a lot to make handling this situation easier. Otherwise I would have been much more dismayed :( But all in all I was impressed by the Airline Crews’ hospitality and Airport staff professionalism :) despite the fact that I don’t they get paid as much as most of their western counterparts. I read that a new Quingdao airport is on the cards in 2019 or so and that can change the situation. So I have mentioned a date at the start of this comment to make sure future readers have a time context too.

We spent 2 hours at the check in because China eastern changed our connecting time and we were going to miss our flight. The food was terrible, they lost my husbands luggage. We are on our honeymoon and he has no clothes. And they put us up in a very dirty hotel.

The food is always bad, and they didn’t allow use of electronics (phones, and they didn’t like me using my iPod I suppose because it looks like a phone?) on a 6 hr international flight when there was NO individual entertainment and no screens. What’s worse is I went into the bathroom right after a flight attendant and there was urine all over the seat! She either did it and left it, or she saw it and hovered over it, leaving it for the next person. Not classy.
