Location was easy to get to in Brooklyn and the weekly rates were very affordable.

Cons:

The type of car I reserved was unavailable and I had to wait for a different (and larger car) to be ready. It would be nice if they had more inventory of smaller vehicles.

The staff was fast, efficient and very friendly. The entire pickup took 5 minutes and drop off took 3 minutes. They were great.

Cons:

It would have been nice if there was an after hours drop off possibility since the site closes at 5pm but I understand that’s difficult at this time. In the end we made it back 5 minutes before 5pm, thankfully.

Staff were very friendly at both locations, and efficient.

Cons:

I had a Chevy Equinox, drove it entirely normally (no speeding), but an hour into my journey I received a message that said 'engine power reduced' with no explanation. That's a car manufacturer issue, not Enterprise's, but it only had 3,000 miles on it, so it was alarming.

Cons:

The car smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I was in a hurry, and the attendant walked away after giving me the keys, so I didn't have time to find someone to see if I could exchange the car. However, the smell was so strong we had to drive with the windows down the entire 4 hour trip.

The staff was very nice and got me a car that was clean and comfortable. They explained what was included and what was additional with patience and clarity. They were also very friendly.

Cons:

The car's oil change indicator was triggered when I picked up the car. The car's tank was also only filled halfway upon pickup. I expected the tank to be full when I picked up the car, so that was very disappointing.

Cons:

When I arrived there was an issue with the scanner; my name didn't pop up when I returned the car, and as a result I had to wait around while they figured it out, but no one ever explained the issue to me.

I went to pick up my car that I booked a week in advance and upon arrival, Thrifty said there were no cars left and she was already closed. It was beyond rude and I will never rent with Thrifty again.

The E-ZPass in the car didn’t work after I was told repeatedly that it would be available and I had to stop and pay tolls in cash. The car was also not very clean and only came with a half tank of gas which was inconvenient.

Everything else, the car was filled with sand, it was given to me on little to no gas, I was unaware of the 30 min grace period on my reservation Causing me to rush to get the rental or lose my reservation, the location does not have any indication that it’s a thrifty location added with having hertz employees and signs.

The key remote to the car was Given to us low on battery so we had to manually do a lot because the key barely worked. The car wasn’t washed in or out which is pretty scary considering the pandemic. The car was given to us with less than even a quarter tank.

Cons:

Better cars with working equipment, cleaner cars especially during a pandemic, and gas up the cars before handing over.

Payless has great customer service for the situation we were out in. The insurance prices are crazy but at the end of the day it wasn’t Payless fault. This is a country requirement that we did understand prior to booking. The pick up was easy and Luis was great!! Drop off was simple as well and super friendly. Car was cleaned when we picked up and that was appreciated.

The check-in process took forever. It was a large line and at the beginning the attendance. Chatting among each other, Delaying the process. Finally, a young man came in. And checked in as many people as the previous to attendance did together. I’ve been to this car rental before, and it brought a memory of the last time we experience the same thing. Very frustrating.

I prepaid for my car only to get to the counter and wait for just under an hour. Once assigned a car, I again waited because I was then told my car was double booked. I finally got a car, and it was a great car. However, after turning it in on time I was charged for 3 additional days because they had me down as driving a completely different car. Definitely will Pay More next time and rent from someone else.

Getting from baggage claim to Payless terminal had to stand in long lines to get on the bus. The customer service agent was very nice and friendly. We ended up getting an electric car, but never told us about what charging stations we could use being not familiar with that type of electric car and where the charging stations were a big problem wasted a lot of time during our driving experience, trying to find chargers that would work.

Payless always comes through, the pickup and dropoff process is fast and easy never any issue.. The payless cars are very updated and reliable, the price is always affordable and the deposit is always given back as soon as you drop it off, no extra charges or fees.. I highly recommend them, been using them for the past 3 yrs everytime i travel and not 1 issue..

I loved the car loved the easy pick up and return of the rental car. The airport made it very self explanatory to get the car back with white letters on the road to direct you back to the rental car return. Made me smile. I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
