Had to switch cars!
Pros: They were very accommodating when we wanted to switch to a cleaner car. And when we switched, the car was so much better and cleaner - it was what you would expect to get when you rent a car. Thank goodness!
Cons: I'm used to Avis and Hertz - but I have also rented from Thrifty and Economy. I have had good experiences from them. But this was just unexpected. The first car that I received from Budget was so filthy and disgusting! When I got it, there was an old razor in the car, with a lot of shaven hair dispersed on the front two seats. There were also various brown stains on the seats. The trunk was cleaner than the seats! The steering wheel was so sticky, too. I went to my friends house immediately after, and she said that we need to switch cars before we go on our road trip. We're pretty sure they did not even inspect the inside the previous renter returned the car. Since the outside of the car was clearly cleaned and washed, Budget not that thorough. Service was mediocre. They can be a lot friendlier. When I returned the car, the man worker was quite rude and lacked politeness. I don't think that I'm going to go with Budget ever again.

Worst experience ever!
Cons: Car was not washed or vacuumed inside or out. Was supposed to be prepaid and was not. Custoner service was horrible and wait was long. They said Chevy Impala or similar, but gave us a Kia! When I complained I was told "we can give you 20 bucks for the car wash". Conpletely unacceptable!

Pros: Good car.
Cons: Poor service. Sean at the rental place was rude and asked for inappropriate information for the rental. And charges $5 additional dollars a day for arriving early.

Budget 1 day rental
Pros: The return of the car went smoothly, and the rate was reasonable.
Cons: The car was not washed. The clerk at their counter made you feel like you needed a lawyer to rent a car. They had a list of things you are responsible for, and i did not feel i was being treated like a customer. I felt i really needed to go over the car before taking it to make sure they noted all scratches on the vehicle. Enterprise was far better at handling a customer, and you can see why with their success.

My worst car renting experience
Pros: Nothing to like. They didn't give me a car.
Cons: I got there and Budget had a long line and the other rental places didn't. I finally got to the front of the line and the lady said that they do not have the car that I reserved. She said I could try waiting 30 minutes and see if someone returns an Economy vehicle. She said it was my fault that I reserved a vehicle from them on late notice.... Why would they let me reserve a car they don't have. I went over to Avis. They were awesome and made it all better. Never using Budget again.

Easy one way rental from Long Beach to LAX
Pros: Great, friendly staff at both the Long Beach and LAX locations
Cons: The car was pretty dirty when we picked it up. Crumbs everywhere. Windshield covered in bug spatter. Looked like it had just been taken on a long road trip and not cleaned afterwards.

Pros: LGB is a very easy airport at which to pick up and drop off a rental vehicle. BUDGET falls into this category also.
Cons: On dropping off the car, I asked if the road tolls device available in the car would be charged by Budget or separately (and if separately, by whom?) and I was not given a satisfactory answer. I live abroad and cannot spend time contacting the road toll services website as I was advised to do by the Budget representative at Drop Off.

Pros: Excellent in-person customer service and great car!!!
Cons: I had called many times to try to extend my rental another day and no one ever answered the phone or called me back. And don't forget your personal keys on your rental keychain! I made this mistake and called over 15 times and no one ever answered the phone, and I left multiple voice messages and after a week no one ever called me back! Thank goodness I was local so I drove to the location and they had my keys in a big bag of "lost" keys. I asked if they EVER call people back when they receive voicemails and they just said they're busy. So basically if I wasn't able to pick them up I would have never gotten my keys back! This customer service issue should be addressed because this is an airport rental location meaning most people who rent from here would never get their keys back if they forgot them on their rental car keychain. When I called the general customer service number they said all I could do was submit a complaint online.

Cons: We reserved a car earlier in the day and when we arrived they only had a 12-passenger van! Luckily Avis was in the same building and we were able to get a car. It reminded me of the Jerry Seinfeld car reservation episode. "Anybody can take a reservation...the important thing is to hold the reservation."

Pros: The person who checked us back in at drop-off was incredibly kind and friendly. Drop off was easy. I love how close the cars are to the airport when you have 4 people, 2 carseats, and a bunch of stuff.
Cons: Car was very grubby and smelled funny on pickup. I recognize it was the holidays and they were moving a high volume of cars but there were flecks of food all around the front of the vehicle. Kia Soul was my only option without upgrading (despite the booking indicating a sedan was the likely car) and there was essentially NO trunk for 4 people's luggage.

It's Budget! Don't expect much
Pros: I liked this location is open late. Saves me a trip to LAX when I rent a car and have to return late at night.
Cons: It's a small lot shared by multiple car rental companies. Poorly lit, there was no lot attendant present when I arrived. I wrote down all the information and took into the main building. I've come to expect this from Budget. Just a heads for someone that might be renting from them for the first time.

other airports have cheaper cars
Pros: employees are always so nice Lines are short airport is most convenient to the rental place. You only have to walk across street.
Cons: Cost of rental is more than other airports.

Pros: I liked that they were located at the terminal.
Cons: I did not like how the price increased $20 at the time of check out. The price quoted when I booked the reservation said "total", meaning it should have included all of the ridiculous little fees.

horrible customer service
Cons: I made a reservation for a 10 pm pickup. Our flight got in a few minutes late and they were closed when I got to the counter. It would have been nice if someone from Budget stuck around for a few minutes for us OR let us know that they'd be closing at 10 on the dot ahead of time OR gave us a courtesy call to see if we were on our way. They did none of these things. When I contacted customer service they basically said I was out of luck.

Cons: It costs a lot more than what we were quoted. They charged liability insurance even though I declined it. There was 1 employee working and the drop off line was long. By the time I got to the front of the line I was 20 minutes past the agreed upon drop off time. They charged me for another day...and more insurance. Terrible experience.

Don't do it!
Pros: Very little. After being overcharged for a car at the Budget pickup in Vegas because they did not have the car we reserved (no free upgrade, they charged us for a bigger car with worse gas mileage), when dropping off, they would not correct the rental overcharge, did not park our car for us, and the one person at the desk said he had no manager and no he answered to no one in the company. Worst experience ever. Go somewhere else!!!

Pros: Clean car, small hold on credit card.
Cons: Long wait in line, counter person gave me wrong space for car and wrong color making me go back and wait in the long line again, no clear direction on return, had to check in with a guy outside and then go inside to check out with another person. Excessive, especially for people needing to catch a flight.

No one at the Budget counter
Cons: Every other rental agency was present at 10:05, except the one I had the misfortune of reserving, Budget. They told me they leave at 10. Long Beach is a tiny 10 gate airport, we were the last flight in and everyone else knew about it. Why do they take my flight info if not to see that my 25 minute delay would inconvenience them 5 blessed minutes?!? No one else had cars. It ruined my trip. Ten other people were also stranded. Never again.

Convenient and fast checkout
Pros: Easy to get the car. No line and small lot. Always easy to rent a car in long beach
Cons: The high taxes on rental cars in California. Having to go to the office to get a receipt upon returning the car. Most places have portable receipt machines .

Cons: The car sucked. It was gutless, the transmission just plain sucks. The seats were filthy. We had to take it back to a different airport due to flight changes and got hit with $100 charge. Overall, a big rip off. We'll not be doing a rental again. Thanks Budget!

Worst experience renting a car, ever!
Pros: The value was good.... But so much of a headache it almost wasn't worth it. Seriously almost walked out before even speaking to anyone... So slow. So rude. No acknowledgement at all of even being there.
Cons: You have to park in the garage because there's no other parking. All signs in the garage for budget lead to the very bottom corner of the underground lot.... The most inconvenient place, where a desk for Budget or Budget personnel are NOwhere to be found. When u find the lobby, you encounter a single employee for Budget who moves slower than molasses. And if you have a customer ahead of you, like I did, you might end up waiting 30min before even getting to speak to someone. Btw... You get charged for parking after 20min, and Budget will NOT validate. Wtf? Car wasn't even cleaned.

Pros: Drop off was very easy.
Cons: Waited 15 minutes in line to pick up car. 2 people behind me in line were told there were no cars available even though they had reservations. Outside of car was very dirty.

Pros: Mini van was roomy and comfortable. Staff were pleasant. Check in on return was fast.
Cons: Had to wait over 20 minutes to get to a counter agent. Windows on the van were dirty. Rear gate did not open with the remote control.

Unaccommodating for baby transport under 2 yrs old
Cons: We ordered a car-seat. None of the ones they had were operable for a child under 2 years old (i.e. rear facing); our child is 17 months. If we were around town, we would have just faced it forward, but we were trying to drive from LGB Airport to Sherman Oaks to visit family, and it's not worth the risk on the highway to have the seat installed improperly. Budget wouldn't help in any way to try to figure out how to put it in properly, so we wasted over an hour trying to install it properly, and again, no sign of help at all... we finally just returned the car, and had to cancel the road trip portion of the visit - we were going to drive and visit my daughters great-grand-aunt who is 90 years old, and may not be around much longer; needless to say, she was heartbroken to hear we weren't coming to visit.

Cons: Simply didn't have a car. They took the reservation, but they couldn't fulfill it. Didn't call either. Made us go there to hear the news from a counter girl who could barely look up from her phone and apologize.

Full size w/o common features, dirty car
Pros: Counter staff was responsive to dirty car (interior and exterior) complaint, compensate for inconvenience.
Cons: Full size car lack basic modern features: bluetooth connectivity, auto up/down windows.

Smooth ride at LBC
Pros: Charged me less than expected (for one day and one hour, instead of two days), very clean car with nearly invisible paint damage already flagged on my form. Easy drop-off. Nice staff at the counter. Extremely convenient location at LBC.

Cons: Lots of additional fees added up to way more than expected, in the end it totalled way way more than the advertised rate. Def wasn't for those on a budget. They automatically charged me for a full tank when I brought it back with a bit more than half a tank and I had to bring it to their attention and ask for a refund. Had I not gone into the office because the person in the lot's machine was broken, I would have been overcharged. I also had to double check the bill. Felt like an attempt to squeeze even more out of me.

Drove an Ashtray for 4 Days
Pros: The car had good fuel economy.
Cons: I've never had such a disgusting and unpleasant driving experience. The vehicle I drove smelled like an unkempt motel ashtray. Ironically, the window sticker indicated that smoking was strictly prohibited in the vehicle and violations are subject to $250 fine. I cannot imagine how many packs of cigarettes must have been burnt through to completely infuse the odor of disgusting, acrid second-hand smoke into every surface of the car. Drivers wheel left my hands smelling like I spent the day playing with cigarette butts.

Gas tank not filled up
Pros: They were open on a Sunday
Cons: The fuel tank was not filled up. They told me it would be a long wait to get the tank filled. Which made it hard to bring back the car back on a 3/8 tank fill. Who does that? Not convenient at all.
