Cons: We were unable to rent the car. The employee was so rude! I reserved the car through Kayak but the Avis directions didn't specify that we needed an alternate credit card, where to find the rental center, etc.

Cons: The service agents I spoke to had no idea what was going on. They couldn't tell me if the return location was open on the day I wanted to return the car. They couldn't tell me if I'd be charged for an extra day if they were closed. I told them repeatedly that there had been a natural disaster (a horricane) and the city had evacuated but they didn't seem to understand at all. I decided to go with a different company.

Fairly smooth process pick up
Pros: Friendly staff, clean office
Cons: Had some trouble locating car once down in garage, no row/spot indicated on paperwork, was told to press car remote and listen for beep...no beep.

Not typical for Avis
Pros: The vehicle was ok. That is the only positive comment I can make.
Cons: The staff at the location was so far below any professional standard it was unsettling. Further more, Avis customer care, had no concern or desire to better the situation, that wouldnt have cost me more money.

Extremely long line
Pros: When arriving at the Avis counter at ATL, there was at least 30 to 50 people on line. I waited about 30 minutes and the line moved about 5 feet. I decided to check with other rental car company with no waiting. I got the same price with National at the counter including the insurance. The employee at Avis were clueless when asking questions. I will never do business with Avis.

Cons: The car rental company had zero cars the morning we arrived, even though we had a reservation. We were told it would be several more hours. This meant we had to scramble around town to stay even somewhat on schedule. Awful
Cons: I made a reservation, called to confirm that the car was there (they said yes), but when I got there I waited behind a long line of people and was then told there were no cars available. Very frustrating.

Cons: They cancelled the rental at the last minute since they didn't have any cars.
Attempts to resolve the situation with both the rental location and Hertz customer service did not receive a response.
I was attempting to visit a serially ill relative and was stranded without a car!

Offered reservation; refused to supply a car
Cons: I made an off-airport reservation at a midtown Atlanta location. Then, 30 min, later received a call from that location saying---"Don't come, we don't have cars." (And would not have cars the following day, either.) If you know you won't have cars at a location, don't take reservations for cars at that location!

Pros: The employee I worked with was apologetic and tried to help.
Cons: Reserved the car online but they didn't hold my reservation due to a computer issue on their end. I had to then book a car on the spot and will have to contact customer service to get a refund for the original reservation.

Pros: The car had XM radio and a USB jack
Cons: The car was super expensive and they charge you extra for your spouse to be on the car. Enterprise has never done this and offers it for free to the spouse.

Best employee ever
Pros: At the Loews Hotel Hertz counter the employee, Randy, was wonderful even under stress. I usually only use Enterprise but Randy made using Hertz a pleasure!
Cons: I did not like that Herts tried to charge me $40 when I could not change my original reservation to start earlier so I canceled that reservation and made a new one for the same dates and pick up and drop off just longer house and upgrade of car. Hurts was going to charge me a $40 cancellation fee.
