Slow checking in at airport
Cons: Long line at Budget at check in. Would be great if they had a self serve kiosk like Alamo for people with reservations

Long lines, gas not full, car was damaged, unable to give me a receipt
Cons: 45 minute wait upon arrival because no cars were ready. Tank of gas was not all the way full. Car had a dent above the left front tire. Upon return they would not give me a receipt and said I needed to go back to the counter. Upon arrival there was another 45 minute line (at least) and I had to catch my flight so I'm still here 2 days later without a receipt or confirmation the car was checked back in....terrible, terrible terrible. Too much competition in the car market for going through that with Budget. They should be embarrassed.

Cons: Vehicle smelled like a wet dog for the first day or two I rented it. Didn't seem cleaned out very well inside car.

Pros: Easy fast pick up and drop off people really friendly.
Cons: Chip in the winshild before I drove off but couldn't tell because front windshield and all glass was covered in dirt and spots. No where to park my car for free close by for the day. I had to pay can and walk.

The people at budget were overwhelmed with pickups
Pros: The car they finally assigned was a ford fusion hybrid that was wonderful.
Cons: Twice we were assigned the same car as another couple leading to arguments on the lot.

Nightmare with Budget customer service rep
Pros: The car was nice after our nightmare at the airport. After the way we were treated by Budget, I will not rent from them ever again.
Cons: Budget's computers went down and the reps had to hand write the orders. The customer reps of which there were 3 for about 30 people in line were clueless about how to do it. They were looking for manuals. It was obvious that our rep did not want to take the time to write the contract. He even said my credit card was not approved and he couldn't rent us a car. We'd have to come back tomorrow! I talked to the manager and this rep actually came over and said he was new and didn't understand. Long story and 2 hours later...my card went through. ( my credit card company said nothing had been run through so we knew the rep was lying). It was a NIGHTMARE and the rep was very rude and unhelpful. If I had not insisted...we would not have gotten a car. Ridiculous.

Pros: I reserved a mid size car and due to that model being unavailable, I was upgraded, without asking, o a full size car. Good P.R.

Great car, but waiting 30 mins in line to pick up?
Pros: Loved the Nissan Maxima great sporty car and excellent mph!
Cons: Picking up the car and drop off-the rental site was about 10-15 mins from the airport then you had to wait in line for 30 mins to get your car. No one is really around if you have questions and people were having trouble finding where there car was parked.

I was MIS quoted price of $24/day plus $18 for tax

Same old Budget
Pros: Quick service, price OK
Cons: After turning down upgrade options I ended up with older model Elantra with many miles on it. I guess you get what you pay for.

Unclean and alcohol left in car
Cons: Each care seat had large stains and trash from previous renter left. After driving the car for a few days, I also found a small bottle of wine in the glove box of the car, which had previously been opened, but almost a full bottle of wine remained. I spoke with the Budget manager who assured me this would be looked in to. He mentioned that for the stains, we could have requested a new car - I could have, but why should I be burdened with going through that in the first place. Provide a clean car up front!

Terrible customer service
Pros: Had the wrong car and then insisted that they didn't have a four door. They then proceeded to upcharge us and give us a mustang, which one of our taller friends couldn't fit in. When we asked again, they magically produced a four door. Waste of time and almost triple the amount I originally booked it for. 122 to 377!

Pros: I have yet to call them but currently they have me overcharged by 60 dollars or so. When we arrived in Phoenix the gentleman at the counter said they did not have the vehicle I applied for online but were upgrading me for free and when I turned it in they apparently charged me a different rate I will call them tomorrow and try and get the issue resolved. If it is resolved it will be a better overall experience

Pros: Check in and check out were easy. It was during off hours so the line wasn't too long. I did take them up on the upgrade offer for a 5 series BMW and was glad I did.
Cons: The car smelled like someone had smoked in it at one point. Also the external car could have been cleaner. Otherwise the car ran well and had no problems. It's a cheap car rental place so my expectations weren't too high, so I was overall pleasantly surprised.

Pros: A seamless process. The pick up in CA was an Avis/Budget location and the airport in Phoenix, where returned, was Budget. They did not have me in their quick return system and I needed to go into the office to get receipted. They apologized, receipted me quickly and was on my way.

Not what I expected
Pros: Speed of getting car and dropping off.
Cons: Vehicle that I picked was a full size SUV. when we got there it was a midsize. I could have gotten a full size some where for cheaper. They upgraded us with a military price. Was told the only way to get a milItaly was with an upgrade. Was told that most people book the smallest vehicle and then use the military upgrade for the size they want. What happens when u get there and they are out of the size u need?! Website is very misleading and the military discount is a joke.

Pros: Didn't have the car I reserved but got a great upgrade. Car was very comfortable, clean & in good condition.
Cons: Pick up & drop off were under-staffed for the holiday rush.

Cons: We arrived at Sky Harbor, got on the shuttle to the car rental facility only to find that it was the wrong location. The agent at the facility we were at said that we needed to get a different shuttle or a cab to get to Bell Road. Then we found that the Bell Road facility closed at 6 and we could not get there in time. We cancelled with Budget and went with Thrifty at a higher cost. VERY UNHAPPY>

Good value okay service
Pros: The car was clean and in good condition. Drop off was very easy and convenient.
Cons: Had to wait for over 40 minutes in line to pick up my car.

Pros: The gentleman at the location where I picked up was very helpful and professional.
Cons: The location I picked up from didn't allow for after hours drop off and I ended up having to pay for an extra day as well as a drop off fee for changing drop off to the airport. Ultimately, I spent way more than anticipated so the value for money was not great.

Always great service
Pros: Staff on both ends of rental were great.
Cons: Car was just OK. Seemed like the lowest end model they could find. Plus - ordered intermediate class - this did not seem to fit the bill (we have had dozens of rental cars over the past 5 years as we have lived overseas and rented every time we were back in US for a visit) but there were only about 5 cars left on lot when I rented so choice may have been limited. Just not sure of the value for the money spent.

Pros: The car was nice and getting it and returning it were easy.
Cons: The guy at the counter tried to upsell me 3 times, which was a little aggressive. Also the estimate was way off from what I paid.

Pros: Super helpful guy when returning the car - forgot my friend had the other key and he gave me a couple options on how we could take care of it and was even willing to wave an additional overage fee if we chose to extend our rental. Fortunately we got the 2nd key back in time to not be charged again.
Cons: The car was given to me dirty. I was on a tight time schedule and the lady told me she would have someone come wipe it down in 5 minutes. 12 minutes later nobody had come and I had to go so we had a dirty car the entire trip. Also sold me on insurance I didn't really need.

Pros: The rental agents were very friendly, gracious and helpful.
Cons: Our tank was supposed to be full when we picked it up. Instead it had only a quarter of a tank. This caused delays in our trip. However, on returning it we were not charged to refill it and were helped and listened to graciously.

Cons: We had to wait more than an hour on a Saturday morning for a car. I paid for a full size car and we got a Chevy Malibu which could barely fit the 5 adults. It was very uncomfortable. They offered me a discount on an upgrade since I had to wait more than an hour - but not a free upgrade. They did not provide a way to document any issues with the car and then blamed us for a chip on the windshield before even saying hello when we returned the car. I would not use budget again.

Cons: Too long of a wait to pick up vehicle. Had to change vehicle costing twice what was planned because vehicle booked was too small. Need better description of vehicle. List how much luggage it will hold.

I rent cars all the time
Pros: I liked the price! Yeah! The price of the rental is the main factor in my renting of a vehicle. Comfort is a close second, as I drive a lot of miles in a short time when I travel.

Never again Budget
Pros: Not only did Southwest lose one of our bags, when we got to Budget we had to take a number and take a seat with over 75 people ahead of me. After an hour, I worked my way up in the line and got my car, but never again ! They treat their customers like pigs.

Taken advantage of by Budget Employee
Pros: The facility was clean and nice
Cons: I had made a reservation for $53 for the car I needed and the budget employee put upgrades on my reservation for $192 that I was unaware of .

Reminded me of the DMV
Pros: Clean car, good gas mileage.
Cons: Picking up my rental took over an hour. A deli style customer number system was used which on its own is fine, but when you get number 60 and they're on 31... well, it's like a nightmarish DMV story. I don't think I'll be doing Budget in Phoenix again.

Headlights not working
Pros: Nice that pickup was at the airport
Cons: I rented a car to drive to drive a few hours for a wedding. It was late when the wedding ended but I needed to drive back. What a time to learn the headlights didn't work. Only the brights worked. It was a pretty scary drive home bc the road I was driving on didn't have street lights so I had to balance driving in the dark vs blinding others on the road. When I returned the car I mentioned this and they said "we meant to take this car out of commission due to mileage" but had not yet done so and took five dollars off my bill. To me, an apology alone would have been better than five dollars off in exchange for the dangerous situation I was put in. From this experience, I learned to check the lights before leaving any rental place and not to rent from budget.
