Pros: The car was new and clean and had a full tank of gas.
Cons: They kept trying to add all sorts of fee's and insisting on extra's and adding them without asking. The total came out to 4x what ways originally agreed to. Then when I complained and said I wasn't paying that price she couldn't figure out how to remove every thing she added. I spent over 2 hours trying to get it all sorted and another hour waiting for the car. It was 2am by the time I got out of there.

Pros: Car was fine.
Cons: Ended up paying 4x the price because I agreed to "full coverage" which was not explained to me at all (it was my first car rental). The guy didn't even tell me what any of it meant. Almost everyone I spoke to mumbled and seemed annoyed when I asked them to repeat themselves.
Signage is also just hard to pick out.
Pros: Very fast dropoff, no problems with changing the method of payment.

Smooth operation !
Pros: I loved being able to check-in at a machine rather than waiting in line. Loved that I got to select the car on my own from 4 different cars... (and also that the contract read that I can take as much time as I wanted to select)

Pros: We stepped off AirTran, tapped some buttons on an automated kiosk, got a printout, went downstairs, and even got a free upgrade. All in all, the rental was picked up in about 15 minutes.
The car itself (a newer Corolla) was equipped with a touchscreen, backup camera, and Bluetooth. Pairing my phone was easy and I could listen to my music, make calls, and read text messages all hands-free (since using a cell phone while driving in California is illegal -- huge bonus!) Also, it sipped fuel. I drove about 250 miles on the trip and used just over a quarter tank, so refueling was cheap too. The car was equipped with a FasTrak transponder for the two occasions I had to pay tolls, though I only used it once. The price and convenience was reasonable enough.
Returning the rental was also easy. Make sure the tank is filled, pull up to the return agents, get your stuff, they'll take gas and mileage and you can just walk away. Very simple!
Read all the terms and conditions, they don't really push anything on you but you will pay some convenience fees. Not a surprise, just keep that in mind.

Price and dropoff
Cons: The price was risen a lot compraring with the final price we had to pay for the vehicle. As you can see my reservation I requested to dropff the car at 5:30 am and we asked and confirm at the pick up point if someone would be at the dropoff location and we were told "yes, is an airport therefore people is 24 hours there" sadly no one was there and we had a flight to catch so we barely made it and we had to drop it roughly .

Car was marred in places inside and out
Pros: The price of my rental couldn't be beat! Returning was a breeze.
Cons: The car was marred on the fabric in several places and had burn marks. The outside was also visibly damaged in places and I was nervous I would be charged for the damage (still waiting to see). The line to pick up my car was long and delayed me about an hour, but all of the airport rental lines at SFO are very long, and this might have been the shortest one. The rental agent was pushy on trying to get me to upgrade, but that's not unique to this company.

Pros: I had picked up the car in LA and driven it to SF. LA had been awful and overcharged me, refused to correct the billing and told me just to report the charge to the credit card company. When I arrived at SF I spoke immediately to the manager, Sophia, and she apologised and amended everything without hesitation. Complete contrast to my experience at the LAX pick up.

Cons: i could not even wait any longer, after standing in not moving line up to get your car for the past 2 hours, therefore i got to a neighboring counter of "entrerprise rental car" and got my car within 3 minutes. dollar is a nightmare. i am never renting a car from them again....

Pros: Nothing. It was a 2 hour wait for a car, so we went with Hertz instead.

Cons: Pick-up line was combined with Thrifty. The line was very long to pick up the car - 45 minute wait time. Would recommend additional staff to support peak hours.
Would be great if the attendant let customers who are filling their own gas know that a fee is incurred if the gas is filled outside of a few mile radius.

All good until returning
Cons: Filled the tank before returning vehicle and was told it wasn't full and I would be charged $13.99 since I didn't have a receipt. The tank WAS full so why the charge?!! Ladies were too busy chatting to tend to me so I had to stand there until they were done. They still didn't stop so I began video taping. Had to ask for the manager and explained that I was being overcharged. He adjusted $10 off the bill.
Keep in mind, that I asked if I could take the car and top it off but the lady said "no because I already checked it in".
Cons: These jack holes jacked up the price almost $200 on pick up. And didn't include a jack (or a tire) in the boot to boot!
Service was some jacked out green-screen operator on a creepy skype call thing at the airport, and then my clan and I had to walk. And walk. And walk. "Why are we walking, p'pa?" asked my young daughter. "Did we not make a success at the hiring of an automobile? America is very great, but why is there so much walking to come to an automobile you have just sold grand m'ma's jewels to hire? P'pa... p'pa, I'm getting hungry. Is it much further?" Our poor son Edmund died of typhoid, and we lost half our supplies trying to fjord the river.

Upselling and poor communication
Pros: Nice car, easy return
Cons: I prepaid for my car on the website ($230). When I went to pick up the car, I went through the standard up-sells and declined them (~10 minutes of saying no). When it came time to give me a car, the up-sells became less obvious and the sales person led me to believe that the cost I was reviewing was the price I paid online.
She showed me cars that were way above what I had paid ($500) for about 20 minutes as I continually kept our conversation focused on the price I had already paid. She then offered me a car "30 dollars cheaper than I had paid" ($200 total) and I took it. Turns out that $200 was in addition to the $230 I had already paid.
Even though I asked for confirmation that I was not paying more than I had prepaid, it retrospect, she never actually answered that question outright - she never lied, just dodged. I feel played and Hertz now feels like a sleazy company. I'll go with any of the other multiple car rental companies next time.

A bit of a hassle at drop off
Cons: There was a significant scrape on the car when we picked it up. They claimed it was our responsibility. We were in a rush to get to a flight but they made us fill out paperwork. I argued that if their records were correct to begin with, we wouldn't have to risk missing our flight.

Pros: The people we dealt with were friendly. Drop-off was easy and quick. The car was clean and in good shape.
Cons: Pick-up at SFO was bad. The first agent (a video representative) couldn't find the stall the car was supposed to be in. The second agent (after standing in a second line, of course) found the car's location. When we went to get it, the third agent informed us the car had already been given to someone else. This person then gave us a different kind of car, which magically had the same exact rate as what we had prepaid.

Great care at a time in need
Pros: I was just off an operation with a lot of luggage on my own and I was tight on time. I drove in and mentioned the situation and they quickly found a driver to take me to SFO and he helped me with unloading my luggage at the airport too!
Cons: So absurd to have to give a printed voucher to national when they have the reservation in their it system
And they don't want to print it for you
Ladies at the pick up asked for it but the guy at the return was more flexible

Cons: I bought the insurance through kayak when I requested the rental car and then at pick up the national person tried to get me to buy more insurance because the insurance I got wasn't valid. Everyone tries to rip you off.
