Driving Lihue SUV rentals to explore this city in Kauai is both an expedient and awesome way to travel around this corner of Hawaii. If you and friends or family are visiting this tropical paradise, you can take turns driving, and all of you will have comfortable room to relax and store your backpacks and souvenirs. If you are interested in exploring the interior of the island, with its mountains and jungles, Lihue SUV rentals will give you the power and traction that you need, especially when you are traveling on roads that are not paved. Lihue SUV rentals can allow you to get the most out of your trip to this Hawaiian Island.
When your plane lands in Kauai, you will find yourself disembarking at the Lihue Airport (LIH). This is a great place to get Lihue SUV rentals because you don't have to worry about struggling through all the cruise port traffic to get to car rental agencies in town. At the Lihue Airport, you can find the car rental agency desks in a building across the street from the LIH terminal building. Agencies on-site that have Lihue SUV rentals among their rental vehicles include Advantage, Alamo, Hertz, Enterprise, Thrifty, Budget, Dollar, and others.
When you arrive at the Lihue car rental agency to collect your SUV rental, you will have the option of purchasing car rental insurance. You can also choose to use car insurance on your own personal car insurance policy or insurance that you have through a credit card of yours. Some car rental agencies will require that you show them proof of your own insurance if you do not buy car rental agency insurance. So, before you go to Kauai, take screenshots or photocopies of the insurance policy you intend to use if you are going to forego car rental agency insurance.
To secure Lihue SUV rentals, potential renters need to be at least 18 years old. This age restriction also applies to any additional drivers that you want to put on the rental car policy. Also, most Lihue car rental companies will add an extra daily fee to your rental car costs if you are not yet 25 years old. If you fall into this age category, it will be well worth your while to research Lihue car rental agencies to find the one with the smallest underage renter fee.

Terrible customer service, no one answers the phone. And they stiffed me with an additional charge of $80 out of the blue. They suck.

Staff seemed upset I was disturbing them when I picked up the car. I was the only person there for 15 minutes and still took over 30 minutes to get my vehicle. The interior was dirty and this 4 door jeep didn't have power locks. I spent the entire week having to unlock the doors manually. I drove about 10 miles down a gravel road while it was wet. When I returned the vehicle I was told it would be $250 to clean the exterior. I would never rent from Dollar again.

The 4 dr keep wrangler had no power locks or windows…therefore no way to easily u knock and lock the car. Super base model. It was fairly new but we saw several others w nicer trims. Separately the fuel wasn’t full at pickup. We did 150 miles and were empty and had to fill up. Didn’t have time to haggle at the counter so I have to call them about that. We paid well over $100+ per day and the value wasn’t worth it.

At the Lihue a/p check-in counter, there were a lot of extra charges added to the bill. Plus charging $18.00 daily to add a second driver. When I asked for an explanation about the extra charges, there was just a take it or leave it attitude. They were not friendly nor helpful. However everything about the car itself was great. It was bigger than expected, so all of us were comfortable and the surfboard fit into the back without a problem. I would probably rent from Dollar again, but not at in Lihue.

The wait for our car in line was over an hour. We got a chair for an elderly lady that we eventually moved to head of the line. They charged us an additional $214 saying you didn’t send those fees with our payment. The car was great, but the service needed more people to accommodate very line, out the door, line! Very slow, not congenital person!

There was a 2 hour wait list to pick up car in 80 degree weather and none of the vending machines were stocked to have something cold to drink while waiting. Finally we got up to the counter where we were greeted by the manager who breezed us through and we got a Jeep. Unfortunately, the Jeep had manual locks and windows which I didn’t realize newer cars still had manual entry so for the entire trip we had to reach across seats and reach behind to the back seats to unlock everyone’s doors. What a missed opportunity to market the newest Jeeps. Dropping off a car was much less painful and we were able to pull up, get out and hop on shuttle back to airport in less than 5 minutes. Dollar really needs to come up with faster process for pick up or provide comfort stations during the wait.

While Kayak states that changes can be made for free, Sixt does not honor that and wanted to charge $250 for a date change. Also, when we arrived at Sixt in Lihue Chrissy, the Sixt representative, said that they had to redo the rental charge because the credit cards didn’t match which was not true. However, I went along with it. She assured me original charge would be refunded. When came time to pay it was $1,000 more. She said that the car I had reserved was unavailable and was attempting to rent me an Escalade. I stood my ground and somehow the car I had rented originally was there and the price I initially paid was charged. I confirmed with credit card account that she refunded and then recharged the same card. Very sneaky . Be aware.

I made my reservation months in advance requesting a small SUV, but when I arrived they had none. What is the point of making a reservation if the vehicle is not available upon arrival? They offered me other larger vehicles, which I finally accepted, otherwise I would be without a vehicle. Was very unhappy driving a large SUV in unfamiliar locations.

Received a Jeep Wrangler that had a large spot of bird poop on the passenger seat, rotting food in the center console, sand everywhere, sunscreen on the windshield and two non functional seatbelts in the back (we have 2 kids, so those seats were used). We picked up the car late at night and in the dark, so we didn’t notice much of this till the next day. Gina, the woman at Budget’s local office, gave us a hard time about having not noticed when we picked up the car, told us we could have it cleaned and they’d pay up to a certain amount (which is not what anyone wants to spend their vacation time doing) or drive it 1.5hrs back to the airport location and swap it, possibly, for another Jeep if one was available. This car had close to 50K miles on, was beaten up, terrible suspension, filthy and should not be in the fleet let alone rented out. By far the worst rental experience we’ve ever had, and we rent a lot! Would never go back here and would never recommend this location to anyone.

This was absolutely unacceptable and we had to rent a car through another company. we lost one entire day of our vacation due to this as well as it caused much undue stress. I will NEVER use Kayak again and will tell everyone I know not to use kayak unless they want to ruin their vacation. if it wasn’t for the professionalism and care of Alamo we wouldn’t have had a car for our entire vacation. my entire family was affected by the inability of kayak to run a efficient and trustworthy program.
