Convertible

Was called and told car was not available and the systems do not update to demonstrate what actually is available. While the call was nice, the option was a different car or for me to drive 30 mins out of my way to another location to pick up the car I wanted - they were too short staffed to have a car brought to the location I needed, 2 days in advance. The car was not ready when I got to the other location, given it was new, there were still stickers on the windows which the representative took off after me asking and the gas was on empty. So the first thing I had to do was go fill the tank up. I feel this approach is intentional to benefit the car rental company because it's harder for the customer to gauge the fuel return vs just filling it back on full.

Cons:

The process was extremely fast... we honestly weren’t expecting such a swift and friendly experience and atmosphere. The young man who helped us on the pick up day actually didn’t have what we wanted in stock and gave us a nicer vehicle at the same price. Thanks Enterprise team!

Cons:

The rental was canceled in June and I did not receive the money for the insurance down payment Nobody will return my calls. I will never use kayak and make sure everyone knows.

Good ... The employees were polite and the car was fine. Dropoff was easy. Bad ... It took 2 hours in 15 minutes between arriving at the rental booth and getting our car. The building was packed and the line went out and around the building. Aside from that, the prices were ridiculous. Roughly four times what I've paid in the past.

Problem with KAYAK, Not Hertz. Kayak advertised shuttle service from the airport 42 miles to Hertz off site. NOT!!! Ended up cancelling car. Would have been as expensive just to get the car at the airport vs paying to get to rental place and back!! Hertz has been helpful in getting refund. Would rent from Hertz, but only at airport. Maybe prices will go down soon!

Pros:

Nice people. Never got a car.

Cons:

There were 10 people waiting for their reserved cars when I got there after driving 175 miles. Problem was there were no cars to rent. 6pm came and went and still no cars. They closed. I had called earlier to see if I could park my own car there, the said nothing about not having cars available.

Supplier choice

Despite having a reservation, when I showed up at the Budget counter for my one-way rental, I was told they didn’t have any one-way rentals. The woman insisted she had left me a voice mail the day before; however, I had no record of even a missed call from her. She wasn’t apologetic or helpful at all. I’ve not booked a car thru Kayak before and I don’t think I will again.

Budget did not actually have a car for me at the designated site. They called that morning and told me in advance at least. Their agent scheduled me for a car at a nearby location in Cincinnati. That location called shortly afterward and told me that they didn't have any cars. The next agent set me up at a third location in downtown Cinci. My wife and I arrived there at the scheduled time only to be told that they didn't have our car. We were in disbelief as we were being told that they would shuttle us to the airport. Moments later someone returned a car and she designated that for us. We gladly waited while it was cleaned up and brought out. The car was in good working order and was clean, except for the fact that it smelled like someone had smoked in it and the attempt to deodorize had failed miserably. I highly recommend not renting from Budget or Avis (they are the same there), since they contract out for cars that they don't have.

Horrible…received a VM just prior to them closing on 12/23 telling me there were no cars available and to call customer service. Called CS and was told to call other local offices to see if they had a car available. Suggested they were CS and perhaps they could assist. They did locate a car for me but indicated the car would be $81/day as opposed to the $41/day per my confirmed reservation saying “prices are not fixed”. I did attempt to contact other local offices but they had closed hours earlier. On morning of 12/24 went to local office to see what might be available as I supposedly had a free upgrade. I was told there were no cars and to call customer service. I told the manager I was upset he called just before closing and did not answer the phone at 2:50pm when they were supposed to be open until 3pm and he just shrugged. My experience sucked!
