Payless cancelled / deleted my reservation without notice. I attempted to contact Payless through website, and they said there wasn’t a reservation. Good thing a companion had made another reservationReviewed Sep 23 2023

The overall rental experience was poor. Renting/reserving through your site was confusing and I was not able or couldn't figure out how to add insurance and a GPS Nav system through your site. Thus, the upcharge at the counter was significantly higher. No one was at the Payless counter in the terminal so a sign referred you to get service at the Avis counter. There was no Payless representation in the actual lot either, so again you're dealing with a person working the Avis counter. That's where I was getting upcharged like crazy when getting into a car, to the tune of around $100/day for the cheapest smallest size car. It does get better, good and bad. The piece of s**t car they put me into had 78K miles, the key fob didn't work and to top it off, there was a tire, not a spare (tire on a rim), but just a tire with a hole in the sidewall, stuffed into the little trunk. The good news, when I went back to the rental center on the lot to point this out so that I wouldn't get charged, a service guy in the lot asked what was going on. I explained and he got very upset that I was receiving poor and dangerous (if I had gotten a flat out on the road) service. He asked what insurance I had selected, when I told him I was paying full but through Avis (approx $60 euro/day), he said he'd get me in a better car. This guy walked in, grabbed another set of keys and sent me on my way. The on-the-side upgrade put me in a Toyota Yaris Hybrid with low miles, like 5K, the car performed just fine. So, in the end I was happy with what I was driving however it my daily rate with insurance was around $100euro/day. I ended up returning it a few days sooner than initially planned. Taking advantage of tourists with upcharges didn't seem exclusive to the car rentals; Ryan Air and some hotels along the way used the same practices. Specific to renting through your site, I was not pleased.Reviewed Jul 26 2023

We did have to pay another insurance at the desk, but apart from that no other tricks or extra charges were applied.Reviewed Jul 24 2023

Avoid at all costs. Had to wait in line for more than an hour for my rental. Once I was called to the desk, the clerk kept leaving to go talk to disgruntled customers who were still waiting for their keys. Once she came back with the keys for my rental, she suddenly decided to give them to another customer so they’d stop complaining. When she returned she turned to the clerk next to her and said that the customer was a word that I will not repeat on this review. Finally, after another 30 minutes of waiting at the desk, I was given a set of a keys to a manual transmission car even though I paid for an automatic. I went back in and said I was given the wrong car. The clerk then said I was wrong and that I paid for a manual. I pulled up the reservation and showed her I reserved an automatic. She finally conceded and provided me with keys to an automatic that she had to take from another waiting customer. I would have empathy if there was a network issue or car shortage, but one clerk mentioned that this is what it’s like everyday at Payless when I inquired. What Payless completely fails to understand is that people are in Dublin for vacation, or business. - many for the first time. And the last thing they want to do after a plane ride is wait in line for over an hour for a car they reserved. The complete lack of urgency, professionalism, attention to detail, and respect is the first impression many people now have of Dublin and it’s a complete shame because this is a wonderful city. I’ve rented hundreds of cars in my time and I’ve never experienced something this catastrophically inept.Reviewed Jul 5 2023

The only thing good about it was the convenience within the airport. The person at the rental desk tried to sell me on a package that would have caused over a thousand dollars for eight days. I have booked another reservation with Easirent but didn't realize it at the time because I was a bit delirious from the flight I ended up going with Easirent because the price was about 50% less with full insurance. The only thing about that choice is you have to take a shuttle to the location of the car and it's not that easy to find the pickup point otherwise they did an incredible jobReviewed Jun 24 2023

Cons:I used my credit card’s insurance guarantee, but nowhere in the reservation did it say that to do do ALSO required a letter from my credit card company stating (1) that they cover the Republic of Ireland, (2) they will cover the lace loss if totaled, and (3) the last 4 numbers of my cc account. So at the Europcar desk I had to make that phone call, wade through a few phone trees, then talk to a couple of humans. I did get the letter (great service by my cc bank!) but I was lucky - that approval process may take up to 24 hours. The Europcar desk agent said this happens “quite a bit” with the brokers because you don’t provide the information about what each rental car company requires to use the cc insurance waiver benefits. I suggest adding a link to your process that will take your to the specific rental car company page for their CDW. I did use the link provided for my rental but it did not say I would have to get the letter etc.Reviewed Oct 26 2019

Pros:The lines were really long with people complaining and not moving. The Payless personnel were in the same space as Budget and Avis and it was hard to tell the difference in who was working what. Eventually all personnel worked on the same long Payless line. Then the price of our car quadrupled.Reviewed Aug 18 2019
