Pros: Car was newer and comfortable.
Cons: Car company added an extra $50 of "hidden" Roadside Assistance fees which were not disclosed with initial reservation. Not happy at all and will never rent with Payless or directly with kayak again.

Pros: I was charged for gas on returning the rented auto even though the tank was completely full. The customer service rep (Terrance) said the charge was valid even though he refused to justify the expense. He basically ignored my request for his rationale and closed the case. I will NEVER rent car from Payless again,given this experience and the way in which I was treated. Too bad, because the folks at the rental office were very nice and accommodating.

Pros: There was a shuttle from airport that was wuick
Cons: They didn't have a child car seat. The car was dirty- on the outside and inside. It smelled terrible. It was out of style with an older model year- or at least appeared to be so.

Pros: Speed of pickup and drop off.
Cons: Inside of car except windows was clean. Inside and outside of Windows were spotty and a film on them. Not a good combination for driving at dawn,dusk and night. This was overlooked by me because of your awesome price.

Pros: Price was the cheapest we could find, and we paid what was quoted. The car was clean. The staff was pleasant. Check-in and check-out were reasonable.

Easy to reserve online
Pros: I was able to reserve my car online. I then went to the rental place to finish the process. It went fast and was able to leave in a timely manner. I got a new car with little mileage. It was very nice.

No physical location at airport
Pros: Unloading was speedy, once we knew where to go. The bag helper was very friendly.
Cons: When we returned it to Ft. Myers Airport, there was no place to drop off the car. Payless - does not have a physical location. Apparently AVIS owns Payless, so after some frantic phone calls we found where we could drop off the car. The alternative is to ride a shuttle to an offsite Payless location, which was not an option with the amount of time we had. All employees from AVIS and a competitor were rude and laughed in our faces claiming we would miss our flight. Customers need solutions, not ridicule. Had I known there was no onsite Payless, I would have scheduled more time, or simply rented from a more mainstream car rental agency.

Cons: Original estimate was for $268. Final bill was 304. The extra amount was all hidden in taxes and extra charges. I did not use their insurance. I did not use their gas fill up. There should have been no reason why the estimate was that much lower than the actual price. The rental establishment was not at the airport. I waited 30 minutes for a shuttle van. They open at 7 a.m. . I could not drop the car off and get a shuttle ride at 6 a.m. .

Far from airport
Pros: Great, new Sonata. Fast, friendly shuttle service both ways. Good rental rate during spring break.
Cons: Too far from the airport. Long walk toting luggage to shuttle pickup area at airport. Computer system down when we arrived late Sunday night. Our agent Donald took his frustrations out on us, including my 70 year old mother. The car checkout process took over half an hour, my credit card had to come back out four times, and Donald was quite unpleasant to us. We had two children waiting for dinner at 9:15 at night so this was unacceptable.

Bait and switch
Pros: The originally quoted price was very reasonable, if only they had honored that price. The shuttle was relatively quick, and the wait on both pick up and drop off was short.
Cons: The quoted price was lower than the actual price charged. When I first mentioned it, they said, "Oh I need to adjust that". After the adjustment, the price was still higher than the quoted price. They blamed it on the taxes and fees (which were included in the original quote) being higher than originally quoted. Payless blamed that on KAYAK, and said you should always rent direct from their website only. Same thing happened to the person in front of me in line. They also didn't have the car we requested, but said "your lucky day - we have a bigger car for you". Except I didn't want a minivan...

Website confirmation gives wrong number to call fo
Cons: Given wrong number to call for pickup. Payless site is 3-4 miles from airport. (ft. myers, fl) Long walk to shuttle pickup area. Long wait for shuttle.

Pros: The car had a flat tire. I had to spend a day getting it towed back to the airport. The tread on the tire was thin.

Pros: After a short drive to their office, check in was easy and the upgrade car was very comfortable and nice to drive. Rental for a week was best rate we found. Return was quick and easy. Will definitely rent from Payless again.

Pros: When we arrived the car reserved had a problem. The front passenger seat was to low for my wife to easily see out the windshield. The seat could be adjusted forward and back but not up or down. We inquired about getting a more suitable car and one was provided immediately. The new (different) model worked out perfectly. We got almost 40 mpg with the 2016 Nissan Versa provided. We liked the car and how quickly our need was met by your staff.

Pros: best price in town
Cons: Off-site in airport, once got to the rental place there was such a long line and only 1 person working. Something that could have been better organized took over an hour to get my car- bad start to the vacation.

Would rent again in Ft. Myers.
Pros: Everything went as promised. No hidden surprises. I turn down all the extras - insurance, equipment, gas fill-up, etc. The price was as advertised...again, no hidden surprises. Fortunately, there were no lines of customers so all transactions went quickly. Thank you Payless. I will rent from you again.
Cons: The seat back on the Ford Fiesta would not come forward. I always felt I was laying back in the seat. Other than that just fine. Pretty good gas mileage and, even though it had enough gears to make a shift every ten feet, it did get up an go for it's engine size. A little noisy and not enough cell phone plugs. But, good for what I paid.

Pros: Although rental was off site we didn't have to wait for the shuttle long. The service and ease of renting the car at the counter was pleasant,quick and easy. We got a car we were happy with and enjoyed driving it during our 3 day trip.
Cons: Although the rental site wasn't in the airport and we needed to walk to the shuttle and then drive the shuttle for 10-15 minutes the promptness and the pleasant service made up for the inconvenience. Also the car rental was less expensive because the rental site was not at the airport.

Payless not even at the airport !
Cons: Got off my flight to Ft Myers to find that Payless was not even at the airport. I had put Ft Myers airport down for my search for pick up and return. Then they closed at 11pm. My plane arrived at 11pm. I had put down 12 midnight for pick up. Obviously Payless or Kayak did not notice that.

Cons: I didn't arrive to the airport until 12 am. They closed at 10 pm. I ended up renting a vehicle from another company. I called the next day to see if I could pick the car up and they said that my reservation was canceled and we're going to charge me 2 times as much. I kept the car that I had and ended up paying $100 more than my reservation was for.

Ford Focus Pile of Junk
Pros: The car that PAYLESS rented to me at RSW airport was a Ford Focus. The instant I drove it our of their lot, I noticed that the low tire pressure light was on. Apparently, they did not even bother to check the car before renting it.Additionally, the transmission (with 38,000 miles on it) slipped badly. When I telephoned them to complain, after driving 42 miles one way to my Florida home, they told me to drive back to the airport at my own expense to exchange the car. When I told them about the danger of driving a car with very low tire pressure, and the difficulty in steering, they told me to either bring the car back to the airport, or get it repaired, and they would possibly "reimburse" me. I am simply disgusted with the lack of real s=customer service at PAYLESS>

Poor service- bad vehicle
Pros: Shuttle took forever. Vehicle looked like it belonged in an impound lot. Check engine light on, engine sputtering. Told agent on return and was told it was due for service. Then over charged and since my agent was on his 1st day, he needed female partner to help, major attitude with her. GO ELSEWHERE

Late Opening Hours!
Pros: Check in couldn't have been smoother. Probably the quickest I have ever been processed and out the door.
Cons: They don't open up until 7:00. If you have an early am flight, you're screwed! That was never disclosed to us so when we arrived shortly before 7:00 to see locked doors and dark lights we went into panic mode. Luckily, they arrived shortly after we did for transportation to the airport. Buyer beware! New operation, so maybe if they will adjust or at least disclose this during booking.

Great value, Amazing customer service
Pros: Payless was a great value, the customer service was amazing. On our return trip we were pulling into the lot as the shuttle driver was heading out to the airport but he saw us and turned back around then helped us get all of our stuff loaded quickly and right to the airport. Over 100 trips raken, I've never had a shuttle driver do that. It meant the world to us traveling with a 1yr old!
Cons: In an attempt to freshen the car for us an employee checking the fluids also sprayed the car down with water which seems nice but it left bad water spots on the mirrors and windshield that made it hard to see. We stopped at the first gas station to clean them. Not a big deal but if we had to suggest something perhaps just quick dry the mirrors :)

Pros: We left out cell in the carefree return and a representative quickly meet us at the airport to return it. Great customer service.

Cons: Offsite, getting to the drop area, confusion of front desk, has 3 customers in the office for pick up and she is handling a phone call on where the pick up site is at the airport, employee did not recognize the customers in front of her were more important
