Facilities Location & price.
The view They changed $47 for parking
View. Room size. Location. When I woke up in the AM i noticed my iPhone was covered in dust. I then noticed the desk with my black laptop, across from the air conditioning vent was also covered in dust particles. This is a big deal for me because I have a dust mite allergy, but still have never seen this level of dust collect just overnight. I think the air filter vents in these rooms are very very dirty and just blow dust all night as Long as the AC is running. I was extremely congested all day due to my allergy and had a hard day networking at my convention. Also, the TV service this day and age is sub-poor. No guide and some of the channels didn't work "no signal".
Our checkin was quick and we love the location. I expected room to be a little cleaner for what we paid...
- Great location - Great drinking & dining options - Great interior design and decor - Clean - Loud guests after 10pm - A little on the expensive side - Add-on expenses (parking, water, etc)
Great location, we had a beautiful view of the water and of the pool area. The pool was very nice as were the hot tubs. The room was very clean and spacious and the staff was very polite. And I did not have to wait long for an elevator. The only issue we had was that our parking pass was note coded so we were unable to exit the garage. The staff quickly corrected it thouh.
Unlimited Access To EVERYTHING FUN Leaving
We immediately felt welcome as Rob at the front desk gave us information about the facility and its surroundings. He gave us a corner room near the top with spectacular views. We got two beds which is plenty of room for family of four. Inside the room there is is luxurious atmosphere with open space. There is also Keurig with Starbucks coffee. Overall clean and modern, with even electronic shades. I have stayed at plenty of upscale hotels and this is the best by far. The location is the best. I went jogging at the lovely Seaport Village right next to it. The Gaslamp Quarter is also near. Overall an excellent place and we would definitely come back!
Everything! Service and location was best Dusty room
Great service and friendly staff. Room was clean and updated (with an incredible view). Also a great location for hitting the downtown SD spots. Only downside (very minor) is the breakfast in the hotel restaurant is buffet only. Would've liked an option to just get some eggs and a juice without paying $40 for all-you-can-eat. But there are plenty of other places to eat, so no worries. I'd definitely stay there again.
The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the bed was comfortable. The room was very loud. We were able to hear in the most precise detail what was going on in the room next to us (including our neighbor's conversations and television preferences). We ask to be moved, but the second room was equally as bad.
The room was small, but comfortable. It had everything you could want, including a mini frig. The location was great. Within walking, or public transportation, to everything downtown San Diego has to offer. The valet parking was expensive.
I was surprised to have to pay a mandatory fee for services that I did not use or want. I thought that was very unfair of the hotel.
Nicely restored hotel with character. Restaurant/bar is very good with open, upbeat ambiance. Bed was excellent quality. Room was pleasant. We would stay here again. Easy walking distance to many restaurants and club area as well as to the harbor with the Midway Museum. Got in about 9:45 p m and the hotel restaurant had closed early. Although the walk to the restaurant area was easy, there are about three blocks of homeless sleepers which was a bit uncomfortable.
Excellent hotel that is well priced and located.
It's location is perfect. Walking distance to pretty much everything you would want to do downtown; gaslamp, marina, horton plaza, etc. Room was perfect for me and my girlfriend. Staff was very accomodating. Parking.
Nothing This is by far the worst hotel I've ever been in! The room, (505) was so small that I think they had to build the room around the bed. It was so small that the bathroom had to have a sliding door. I truly don't believe a normal door would be able to open / close. The air conditioning didn't work and the overall area seemed seedy. Numerous bailed bond companies with likely clients in the area. When I asked about the area the clerk advised, "Just stay on Broaday."
Amazing staff. Overall very nice hotel. Dust. This is the the only minus.
I loved everything
Very friendly staff, the location was perfect. Valet parking was great. The room was smaller than expected, but was well equipped.
Nice lobby with friendly staff greeting us upon arrival. Lots of charm with short excerpts posted throughout highlighting the history of the building. Room was comfortable with all needed amenities for a place to stay. The purpose of our stay was the city. This room gave us a comfy pillow top mattress to rest and recharge each night with complimentary water keeping us hydrated. Workout facility was nice and hardly crowded during our stay. No complaints and would gladly stay here again. Rooms were small. There was no view including limited sunlight through the window plus the "green" lighting made it so you had to turn every light in the room on when getting ready. Bathroom was small and no vent :-/. Closet didn't open all the way due to being obstructed by the bedside table (again, room was small). I'm being as honest as possible with these negative, but the purpose of the room was met and the pros far exceeded the cons during our stay.
The rooms were big and the decor was very nice. The staff were great and the location was perfect for visiting San Diego. The charge for parking is too high. We parked on nearby streets for a tenth of the cost.
The room was great and service was excellent. Very noisy on the 4th floor exterior room all night long on a weekend.. I requested a room with a view and got a view of the rundown buildingf to peo next to us and listene.
Great bed Could hear doors closing and thin walla
Enjoyed our stay with our 5 yr old. Very courteous staff, local amenities, and close Seaport Village and other site seeing entertainment. Now a favorite, will definitely stay again in the near future.
Elegant and plush surroundings, very comfortable bed, room was lovely with great amenities even though I had a single room. Great power breakfast meal!
The staff was friendly and courteous. The entire stay was pleasant and we were well taken care of as guests.
The hotel is a historic landmark located near the Gaslamp district in downtown San Diego. The location is great for shopping, site seeing, and night life. The staff of the hotel was superb! A fantastic back drop for a romantic getaway.
Cool vibe. Great room and decor. Easy check in.
Location Beds were terrible and room was small
It was a wonderful expeeience from the moment we walk in to the time we left. It's a beautiful hotel with a wonderful staff. The Spa Suite was a little plain in appearance for a luxury hotel but the therapist was excellent.
We always enjoy staying at the US Grant. The staff is friendly the restaurant and bar are wonderful the location is perfect. The rooms are nice the beds are comfortable. The pillows and I would ask not to stay facing fourth Street again.
Rooms were good size with a nice view. Big screen TV. Downtown location near to attractions. Didn't sleep well because the mattress was a bit lumpy. Gave me a backache. The breakfast menu is pricey. $44/day for parking. Hotel like Westin should have free parking available for guests.
3 blocks from coaster, very comfortable, free shuttle to the airport, beds are fantastic They nickel and dime you for in-room wifi (seriously?)
The amazing view, the helpful and friendly staff, and the amazing deal!
this Hotel is on nice area, walk distance to Midway museum & seaport Village, very convenience & we will definitely come back again for vacation!
The room was very comfortable and had a nice layout.
I was very satisfied, was even able to check in hours ahead of schedule and was upgraded to a better room. The location is fantastic as well as the view, staff was attentive and courteous, definitely recommend this place.
the bed was very comfortable. The restaurants and lounge were enjoyable.
Good value for you money. Very clean. Good facilities. Bed too soft, it is like it is just made entirely of pillow. I had some maintenance issues in my room, which they fixed, but they wanted me to move instead.
Clean friendly $44 parking cost and one way streets with only two valets
Not all staff was friendly, room wasn't thoroughly cleaned one day and Cafe and restaurants only open till 1pm. Also some staff gave poor directions as to how to get to places.
Loved the staff. The woman at the front desk was super friendly and nice and her alone would make me want to come back and enjoy the Westin again!
Great location, clean hotel, GREAT bed. Best sleep I've had in a while. Bathroom was nothing to write home about and parking is a bit expensive
almost everything worked out just fine for us.. long line for happy hour.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and large. The hotel location was ideal due to its proximity to different eateries and shops. I wish I had the time to enjoy a run near the waterfront which looked lovely. It was a little pricey at over $300/night, but then again it was Memorial Day weekend.
Choices to be green. Close to the convention center. Hours for the recreation area were limited.
Breakfast, as always, was good. We were not able to enjoy happy hour as we had another commitment. Location was great. $46/day for valet parking is ridiculous. Luckily we are Hilton Honors members, because $12.95/day for internet is also ridiculous. For the price of the hotel, internet should be included, and parking reasonable.
Location, room separate from living area a huge plus. I booked over the phone directly with the hotel, what I was quoted over the phone was $100 more than what was emailed to me in my confirmation. I had to cancel, and was transferred to 3 people before I was allowed to do so. I was told there was Self-Park or Valet, upon arrival I was informed there is ONLY valet and it was $42.00. I was not informed that the hotel was under major renovations when speaking to the hotel on the phone either. "heated pool" was barely warmed up, more cold than anything. The parking felt like the biggest disappointment, especially being lied to over the phone.
The breakfast. Didn't like the $40 night parking fee and I thought the customer service at the front desk was terrible.
The rooms are big, and the hotel close to a beautiful beach. The is a nice center of restaurants near the hotel The Peking in the hotel too expensive
Breakfast was good. Afternoon cocktails and snacks were a nice touch. Big, comfortable room. No drinking glasses in room. They charge for Wifi.
Location After realizing I left a jacket in the closet, I immediately contacted the hotel to retrieve it. Two messages were left on housekeeping voice mail. Twice I spoke to front desk and was prommised missed a call back which never came. No manager was available at any time. After a day and a half I recieved a message from housekeeping that they didn't find it. The outcome would have been different had the front desk or management given quality customer service. I am a Hilton Honors member and frequent guest.
Nothing went right and it continued even after we left the hotel
I was told there was Self-Park or Valet, upon arrival I was informed there is ONLY valet and it was $42.00.
The staff is very friendly. The hotel is very clean. The free hot breakfast was good. The location is is great.
it was very central. had a quiet room. hot tub & pool were great very business orientated - seminars & conferences
located very central, bars and restaurants in walking distance, shopping mall close by. Very nice and big room during our stay a conference was going on and you we were woken up at 6 o'clock every day by the noises through the air-con-shafts and thin walls
Proximity to shops and restaurants The floor we stayed on smelt terribly of cigarette smoke and we had to complain before it was addressed. Also, our room key had to be reset 5 times in 3 days and I didn't even carry my phone with me so not sure what the reason was. Was a minor inconvenience, but other than that, was a comfortable stay.
Shop & sightsee
Location was excellent for the centre of San Diego and convinient for the shopping area.
The price ($99 / night) for the location and the dimension of the room (very usefull with a baby). The hotel and the rooms are old: used furniture, heater not working, stains on the floor, TV remote not working... I guess they will increase their rates once renovated
Nice and clean. Looks brand new. Rooms. Hallways, lobby, etc.
Very nice hotel. I would like to have been told that parking was valet and $45 per night.
Excellent bedding and service Hotel did not have our reservation that we made online. Toilet was not clean when we checked into our room, had not been flushed or cleaned.
I did not request a handicapped room and I was put into one by mistake. I called in advance before I checked in day-of, someone told me they could change my room when I got there and the hotel was not sold out. 45 minutes later when I arrived, the desk clerk said the hotel was sold out and there was nothing they could do. It was imperative that I have a bathtub due to personal restrictions, but I didn't have a tub - only a roll-in shower that is horrible to deal with and very messy. I was charged $42 for overnight parking in addition to a very pricey room. I won't stay here again.
Walking distance to the mall. Modern. Fourth floor room facing the circle was noisy.
ı lıke to shopping and restaurants. ıt looks lıke empty and cold it is not like the westin st. fr. san f.
The room was clean and very comfortable Sirens!
Friendly staff, good location, etc. Balcony is not too big. Take one step out and that's all you got....other than that, cool hotel to stay. Not hip, but cool.
I really liked coming back to the room st night and finding the lights dimmed, the bed turned down and nice relaxing misic playing. This was a very nice touch The hotel had a musty smell that was unappealing. The concierge and some of the people at the front desk were not very friendly/helpful when I asked about place to get a good fish taco and hoe to get to old down. Made me feel like I was shaking silly questions and bother.
Very classy, beautifully appointed hotel. Staff helpful, polite and wanted our stay to be as comfortable as possible. Our room was lovely and the turn down service was appreciated - especially the music playing and the low lighting when we returned in the evening. I agree the C street side of building a bit noisy, but would not deter me from staying there again when we are in San Diego. The valet was very prompt to deliver our car and 2 young men helped us with our luggage. We had room service breakfast.. Very, very good...Thank you for a lovely stay...
The customer services was great. The hotel was beautiful and well maintained. My room was a little be dusty, which affected my allergies. However, the dust was manageable.
The decor was a little dates but very opulent...really beautiful chandeliers in the lobby accented with elaborate holdings! Our room was not well cleaned from previous stays. We encountered the following: 1. Old pack of cigarettes in the closet 2. Large stain on one of the robes 3. Opened and half consumed water in the mini fridge (as a part of the $15 resort fee you receive 4 free water bottles in the mini fridge) 4. Dirty ice bucket containing a good amount of water/alcohol remains 5. Stepped on a very sharp furniture tack that must have come loose and was on the floor by my bed
comfortable beds and spacious rooms. Kind and friendly staff, prompt response with broken thermostat. Kind and courteous repair workers. There was a few (2) pieces of trash on my bed when I got there (a piece of tissue and a cap to a water bottle). The thermostat dial was broken and I immediately had to call for a repair. My room was directly over train tracks that ran ALL NIGHT LONG!
Check-in was efficient & friendly. Great wifi. Excellent pool. This time our room faced C Street - very noisy. Previous stay we faced 3rd Street - much quieter.
As mentioned, the location is excellent for walking around Little Italy and the Gaslamp district. The staff are friendly and helpful. I like the showers as they are quite spacious and can function as a mini-tub. Overall it was a clean and comfortable environment. The room was aligned with the light rail. Every time a train left the adjacent station, the conductor tested the horn. It was too much noise for the hotel not to give us a heads up. Two stars for this "oversight".
The staff was very friendly and helpful since we didn't know our way around San Diego. The room was very comfortable and beautiful. We would stay there again. There were add on charges.
The hotel is beautiful! The staff was helpful and prompt. There was someone there right away to take our luggage to our room, and our room was ready upon an early arrival. I'd stay there again! After checking out, the valet didn't help us get our luggage in our vehicle. $30.00 a night I felt it should have been better service.
Location was perfect, service was exceptional. David, who was on the front desk when we arrived, was outstanding. He gave us great recommendations for restaurants and other activities in the hotel and the surrounding area. Housekeeping was outstanding, with turndown, chocolates, And room set up with lighting and mood music upon return at the end of our days out. Concierge was very helpful with information and ticketing for tours. Great pool area on third story patio deck. One of the best hotel experiences we have had! We recommend it highly. Street Car noise on the side of the building where our room was located.
Do not stay here. The hotel was below average for the price, the hotel staff were not helpful and uninformed. Worst of all was this sign noticed while checking out: WARNING: This building contains chemicals, known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. They were not helpful and I cannot remove the exposure I experienced. Do not stay here. The hotel was below average for the price, the hotel staff were not helpful and uninformed. The location is AMAZING, I highly recommend it. When we first arrived I was disappointed by the outside of the building (it looks very dated) but the interior was GREAT and the room was extremely comfortable. One of the best beds I have slept in at a hotel!
The hotel had an excellent location right along the bay. It was close to many attractions and restaurants. There was nothing wrong with this hotel, it was just very average. I would say it met expectations, but did not exceed. Rooms were a decent size, beds were comfortable. We could have benefited from a room with a better view; we couldn't enjoy our balcony because we were right above the air conditioning unit which was very loud.
Clean room and sheets. No restaurant on site.
The hotel is well situated overlooking the bay. Be sure to get a bay view room. Otherwise you could stay at any non-view hotel for less. The surprise $24.00 'self-parking' charge per day. The $3.00 for Lobby Coffee. plus tip of course.
Right on the waterfront. Was able to be on the side facing the water. Room had been remodeled. In the process of remodeling. Parking was extra and not guaranteed. bathroom door had no lock
The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The location was great; right on the waterfront which was close to some great sites and also walking distance from gas lamp and other cool places. Some parts of the hotel seemed dated or in need of repair, like the elevator. Internet was a little sketchy in the room from time to time and I had to call for support.
Nice design for the room. Contemporary, freshly renovated. Lovely views. Good location especially for cruise goers.
the hotel is only minutes front eh airport. it is right along the waterfront, which is beautiful. The city views are also delightful. Very close to the train which provides easy transport to downtown. The staff was friendly and helpful. Close to many attractions. Convient to all the city opportunities. It worked out great for my baseball stay. Helpful concierge. Close to restaurants. I would stay there again. Wish it had free parking. Closet in bathroom not my first choice. Bouncers at a private party not very friendly.
Everything, the service, the customer greeting and all other businesses that had to be done for a satisfactory! To be honest, everything was gone great with my experience and I should say that for the best price we got more!
The location was perfect, plus they had a shuttle That would take you to the zoo, Horton plaza and seaport village. The air conditioner wouldn't go below 70 and parking was a bit crazy. You get charged an additional $26 a day to park in the parking structure.
Wifi very bad
This is a great hotel, in a great area (Little Italy), with amazing yummy breakfast and very helpful staff. The rooms are very clean, with microwave and a fridge. The value for the money is amazing. Our room was very small, and you couldn't open the window (the AC wasn't enough) and it was a little suffocating.
The breakfast with the fruit salad was refreshing and the croissants yummy! Access to a printer, a computer and internet. Staff (Guy at The front desk) was very nice and helpful. He deserves a raise! No free parking even though I found a street parking. No hairdryer in the room, when I got the room it was hot in the room. In the morning I heard the people working on the building next door.
Little Italy is such a beautiful location. Plenty of restaurants which my boyfriend and I loved. The hotel has a comfortable atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. The rooms were well kept and great for taking a break from being out and about. I think this is a great spot for weekend getaways. There was small pastries, granola, yogurt, fruit and drinks in the morning which was nice. It wasn't enough to get me full but enough to hold me over until my next meal. Overall it was a cozy and relaxing place to stay for a weekend getaway. There was parking spots for the hotel but unfortunately they were all full. Not too big of a deal. I just had to leave my car in the next street over in public parking. Paid $12 for 24hours. Parking can be hard to find in this location because it is a hot spot. Other than that, I have no complaints.
Right around the corner from little Italy. Great food there. Short walk to the waterfront. Everything was a short drive away. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The continental breakfast was just enough and presented nicely. Nice little clean BOUTIQUE hotel. It's right in the name. So it is not like a typical chain hotel. We would definitely stay again!
The location is amazing, the staff are beyond amazing. My only gripe with the place was the cleanliness around the windows which appeared to have black mold. This place is perfect if you don't mind a small room.
the television did not work. it did not had sign. There was a constant noise coming from the wall of my room - a snapp. Everything else was all right. I would come back there in despite this things.
Loved the king bed it was very comfortable. The breakfast there was amazing! The bathroom is tiny and cable wasn't working.
Nice area. Not too touristy. I had one of the more spacious rooms and it was the perfect size. Very nice staff.
Very clean and friendly Bed and pillows a little hard. A/C on the loud side.
The location was excellent and was walking distance to nice restaurants and stores in the Little Italy area. The room that we stayed in (a Double) was VERY small, with cement floors, so I found the online pictures to be deceiving. We also found hair on the bed sheets, which they replaced for us.
This is an excellent place to stay for those who are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a great location. The rooms are small, but efficiently laid out and clean. Everything you need is availalble, and the wifi is adequate. The complimentary breakfast is very good and the coffee is excellent. No need for a Starbucks run in the morning. The staff is friendly and someone is always available. This hotel is not spacious, from the lobby to the rooms, everything is compact, so if you were planning on spending a lot of time in your hotel, or you equate space with comfort, this might not be the place for you. If your looking for a clean and modern place to stay that's quiet and well located, you can't find a better hotel, especially for the price. Parking would be difficult if you had a car. I did not have a car so it wasn't an issue. There is a construction project next door (new development), so if you were facing it, it might be loud. It never bothered me and I'm a light sleeper, but I did hear someone else mention it woke them up at 7am because their room was right next to it.
Staff friendly and helpful. Facility clean. Room cramped. Shower drain slow, shower pan filled with water while showing. Window air-conditioner effective but loud. Breakfast good but too few tables during morning rush. Staff friendly and helpful. Facility clean. Room cramped. Shower drain slow, shower pan filled with water while showing. Window air-conditioner effective but loud. Breakfast good but too few tables during morning rush.
The price is reasonable and the location is excellent. The rooms are spacious. However, the soundproofing of the walls is suboptimal. I found the restaurant and the breakfast menu mediocre.
The view from the balcony was a direct line to the waterfront and the Star of India. The room was very clean. Breakfast is provided at the attached restaurant which is a nice facility. Transportation is provided to and from the airport and to the cruise ship terminal. The location is convenient to walk to Seaport Village, Little Italy, local bus line, the zoo, Gaslamp district, multiple other restaurants, as well as pharmacies and shopping. There is no need for a car. The lobby area is being remodeled and I knew that when I booked. It was a little dusty, but not inconvenient in any way. However, although the rooms are very clean, the furniture, wall coverings, and carpet are looking a little tired and worn out and in my opinion, these are the areas which should be updated.
enjoyed the breakfast and the comfort of the room. Very clean and the maid service was excellent everything was fine
There is a free shuttle to/from the airport. Each room contains a refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, safe, hair dryer, and iron. I was given a voucher for free breakfast buffet in the attached restaurant and the staff kept it well-stocked, even when it was nearly time to end the buffet. I flew in early and the hotel let me check in early without charging an extra fee. There were several issues with the condition of the room. The refrigerator, TV, microwave, and lamp were all broken. I attempted to restart the fridge and the TV by unplugging from surge protector and plugging directly into socket, trying different sockets, etc. but was unable to get them going again. A very nice maintenance man did some trouble-shooting and was able to get them working with a bit of effort. The switch on the lamp was bent, loose, and shorted out. Cleanliness was also a problem, maybe because of my early check-in. A used towel was stuffed under the safe in the closet. One bar of soap in the bathroom had gotten wet and was unusable. There was a curly hair on the bathroom counter. There was no lotion. Overall, the experience was NOT what I expected from a $200 per night hotel and I do not recommend it.
Even though the hotel was unconstruction, it had great service. Good room for a good price. We only stayed for one night and everything was great. No complains about anything. Highly recommended this hotel its rest the pier and has good restaurants near as well.
The staff was very professional and friendly The amtrak train was quite annoying blasting its horn all night
Localization is good. It is a good relatioon cost/benefits.The room is nice. Lobby could be pretier!
Excellent location, airport shuttle, close to public transportation, breakfast included Parking fee
The included breakfast as well as the shuttle to and from the airport
location , friendly construction, unable to find my reservation for quite sometime. not in the system and had to go to main office to get it cleared up
Great location, very clean and comfortable. I would stay there again.
It was close to the water. Very comfortable. Remodeling so it will even be better when that is completed.
Close location to the shopping center, restaurants and convention center.
room very comfotable.excellent location.Contrary to your information, there is a restaurant in the hotel.
Close to venue, great people in all areas of the hotel. Loved the bath soap.
The personel was not that efficient, but definetely friendly
Great, Great, Great. The Bristol was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in US
My girlfriend and I enjoyed this hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodated our stay. The valet personnel was also great. Definitely recommend staying here. There really isn't much to complain about for this hotel. The only thing was that the hallway smelled like residual cigarette smoke, but the rooms themselves did not smell like smoke, which was great.
Friendly, good price. Noisy, sketchy area, long walk from 5th ave bars, outdated.
Perfect location, walking distance to gas lamp district and mall across the street. Quiet and comfortable. Good price. Free wifi. No fridge. Expensive valet. No breakfast.
Location was excellent.
It was centrally located The room was old, smelled weird, horrible wi-fi that kept kicking us off, mini fridge upon request?! Overall felt the price did not match the quality of room we received. Would NEVER stay here again or recommend to anyone!
-price was good , location , LCD Tv ,all the staff were friendly , clean room there is no ice machine in my room level
I liked the proximity to the Gas Lamp district which is where all the bars and eateries are. I also liked it's proximity to the harbor within a ten to fifteen minuet walk. I feel there really isn't any reason to complain
The Room was awesome Check out was a line
The ambiance was very nice! The parking was very expensive 45.00 a day.
Great view of downtown SD skyline The service was sub-par. Since they don't have electrical kettles in the room, we ordered some hot water for tea. After 30 minutes and several more phone calls, nothing showed up, even the operator told us she called house keeping several times. We had to give up and find a cafe nearby. The room was not as clean as the Sheraton we stayed at previous night. There are old coffee stains on the carpet, rust marks in the shower. The hot water actually ran out when I took a shower, first time ever at a 4-star hotel. The front desk wasn't that helpful either, keep referring to a printout when asked for recommendations, not exactly concierge level of knowledge of the city as one would expect at a nice hotel.
the chic look, the rooftop and atmosphere. Rooftop was not ready at 5 as scheduled
I liked the bed, it was comfortable. I liked the design of the shower even though it was not the most functional way to wash your body and save water in California with the looming drought over it's head. First of all, they try to hold $100 a night for possible incidentals but could not provide the correct paperwork stating that it was company policy so they use the tactic of trying to stall you out so they don't have to deal with you anymore. Second I didn't like the communication the front desk lacked, I didn't like that there was a pool but no Jacuzzi, I did not like that I had to pay $45 over night to park my car or the fact that all the parking circling the hotel was 2 hour metered parking starting at 8am. The valet service guys at times were more helpful then the front desk in curing any issues I had. This place is only for out of town business people. People with a company card who are looking to pay high for food and minimal fun.
Very clean stylish room, flexible check-in and friendly staff, good hotel room amenities and facilities, great location, wonderful cleaning staff, lots of nearby restaurants and shopping, decent gym and a small pool. No bath robes.
The room was absolutely nothing special, a motel quality at best. There was no refrigerator, but they did provide a six ounce bottle of their brand water for two guest. We also had leaky shower faucet, I supposed designed for ambient noises to help us sleep. We paid $340 a night for the room, however internet was not included and upon arriving, discovered the parking described on the website, would cost us $47 per night. The city view described from our room, was a very tall adjacent building. San Diego! Great city, but research your hotel carefully. There are lots of nonsense outfits like The Renaissance waiting to take your money for garbage service!
Wonderful location and reasonable price! Everything close to get like airport, amtrak, sea port, downtown and a cozy cafe is just next to! Carefull, this hotel has a big but gentle huggy hotel dog.
Well decorated. Good furniture and fixtures. Cool design Pricey for what it is
The staff was accommodating and very friendly. The location was perfect in Little Italy and walking distance to many downtown San Diego attractions. The rooms were nicely updated and the balcony overlooking the city was amazing. The beds were a little hard for my taste. The room was hot and we were unable to control the air conditioning. We had to pay an extra $100 for a double queen. And it's $15 a day for parking which isn't stated at time of booking either
Location was nice and room, somwhat small as reviews said, wasn't a problem at all actually. Comfort was better than expected. Elevator is slow. Noise from the train was really annoying, especially when your room is on one side of the hotel. They need investing on better isolating windows about that. Wifi never actually worked in the room (4th floor) and I needed to go on the business room, cafe or to pick up a free guest wifi from another building to have the internet. It's so easy and cheap to have a good internet that it's really a drawback nowadays to not have a stable connection.
Bad experience. When we arrived, I was informed my reservations were canceled, I never canceled, and were given a lousy room. High hotel foot traffic late into the night that was very loud, no tv remote, crappy tv, super small room, overall a horrible stay!
Location is right in little Italy.
Charming hotel in the heart of Little Italy. Location is perfect for those wanting to explore the city and be close to Gaslamp. The staff was nice and the hotel had a lot of charm. Really clean as well! Would definitely stay again (but maybe would request a room with double beds just to give us a little extra space...) Rooms are really small. Parking wasn't available our first night which I wasn't expecting. Once we did get a spot in the lot, all the spaces were really tight/hard to park in.
The room was small, but overall the hotel was fantastic. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and the free pastry/coffee in the adjacent café was a nice treat.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I enjoy the morning coffee and pastry. Lovely modern rooms. It was nice to have parking at the hotel but it was fairly expensive. The gym was also nice to have but very small no more than three people could use it at a time.
The hotel was in an excellent location, near Little Italy, with great restaurants and pubs nearby. The room was small, very European like, but very clean and recently updated. The Saturday farmers market, right out in front was also a fun plus.
The location was great! Everything in Little Italy was walkable. Wanna go further? The trolley transit system was about two blocks away. Also, they have an underground garage structure available at $20 per night. The garage was fully protected so there's no worry about your vehicle. My 8 month old son decided to poop in our bed around midnight while I was trying to change his diaper (dark lighting and half asleep). We stripped the sheets off, and then found out that the hotel didn't have any spare bedsheets because laundry didn't come back from the cleaner until Tuesday... It was Monday night. So, don't change diapers in the bed at midnight...?
Positives are the location, location, location & accessibility to Gaslamp district. Staff was courteous (enough). Breakfast was decent. 10 years ago, the Hampton was worthy of being in the Hilton family. The staff person didn't bother to tell me about the amenities or location of anything, but noted that he did that for another customer. My smoke free room reeked of smoke and the only thing they had available (they said) was the handicapped access room on the 2nd floor. The elevators are stuff and hot. Parking is cramped and nightly fee is a tad high. I needed to iron my clothes for a party and the iron was broken. When I returned the iron, the staff person was snippy and acted like I was incoveniencing her. I did not feel I was demanding and was very polite. another cust. complained that the AC was not adequate.
The train was not even a problem!! Nothing!
The location was great. But that's about it. Shower head broken! Tile cracked and falling apart. And most of all the bed was uncomfortable. The main reason why we love to stay at the hamptons is because we love the beds! Unfortunalty this was not the case.
comfortable bed included breakfast with some healthy options wifi worked well airport shuttle, but does not pick up after 10 pm thin walls, can hear conversation through them my room was over the dumpsters (5 am trash collection) greeted one morning by a cockroach crawling out of the shower drain
It was clean ,quiet and located in just an ideal location for a great walking vacation. nothing.
Great location, friendly staff and nice breakfast. I specifically picked this hotel because it was the best deal and had an airport shuttle. I was bummed when my flight arrived at 1030pm to find out the shuttle stops at 10pm. It would have been nice to know that beforehand.
Staff Paying for parking
Visibility is very limited in both directions when exiting the parking garage. Pedestrians can't see cars approaching the exit and vice versa. I almost collided with a group of pedestrians. Maybe some signs or flashing lights to alert drivers and pedestrians? You just can't see oncoming traffic on the highway without almost putting your bumper at the edge of the street.
The location was perfect for gas lamp district and petco park, just a quick trolley ride away. Walking distance to the trolley and to little Italy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was comfy and had an enjoyable trip. The beds were too soft for my liking. My fiancé prefers cool showers and the water only came out warm/hot.
Staff was very friendly, valet service was quick and the hotel was clean.
Todos los empleados incluyendo los de mantenimiento fueron muy amables. Para ir al estacionamiento hay que salir fuera del Hotel y tomar otro acensor. El costo del estacionamiento es muy alto.
Shower pressure was horrible.
