The check-in in Jamaica was a disaster

Shelly gave us good service. Check in however was another story. Quite the disappointment actuslly

Used Kayak and delt never had this issue. Email not changed or misspelled."

Pros: "Flight was late leaving JFK. I paid extra for Comfort Plus and had the most uncomfortable seat ever. My back ached during and after the flight. Absolutely the worst seat ever that I have had flying. While it was a short flight we were supposed to get serviced during the flight, but there was no cabin service unless you were in 1st class. So much for the perks of Comfort Plus as there were none. Not even a glass of water. Wow! When we landed late obviously because we left late we were late and there was no ground crew to get our plane to the gate so we sat for over 1/2 hour on the taxi way waiting for ground crew to be available for us to get to the gate. To add insult of injury when we did get to go to the gate there was no gate available for use so we had to deplane in the rain down the emergency stairs. They said that if you had a problem with the steep stairs that they would make other accommodations. Probably would have been another delay so we all carefully went down the steep slippery stairs. I doubt that the stairs met any OHSA or safety requirements except for emergency issues. They were wet and slippery. This was the absolute worst trip that I have taken with Delta. It will seriously influence my future trip decisions."

Pros: "Delta could not help FAA regulations, so it was not their fault our initial flight was delayed an hour and 50 minutes. The gate agents in Missoula were fantastic in trying to help us figure out connection options to Baltimore."

Flight was smooth, seats luxurious (comfort+ aisle and window seats with an empty center!). Arrival into ATL half an hour early."
Cons: "Only one offer of beverage on 3 hr. flight. "Food" at dinner time was chips or crackers. Arriving 1/2 hour early we sat on tarmac for 50 minutes before reaching gate. 20+ minute walk to customs, 30 minute line."

They had just gone through the entire procedure to get to the gate and were forced to be stranded. FIRST CLASS: food service: could there be a rating less than POOR? we were given 10,000 miles (yes that bad) but just like Whose line - the points don't matter when the airlines is that bad! Crew response: We're not any worse than the other airlines - my response: WRONG! NO WIFI NO entertainment NO CHARGING AREA magazines were missing pages in both seats- requested new one never received"

Cons: "Gate at Philadelphia was tiny with not enough space for everyone on the plane, it was a 6 hour flight and no snacks beyond pretzels were available-not even for purchase. I'd just come off an 8 hour international flight where I was provided lunch, ice cream, a pot pie snack and frequent beverage service. Somehow as soon as you are flying domestic on a slightly shorter flight American Airlines thinks its okay to treat customers like garbage-nothing but some sad pretzels and 2 rounds of drink service was provided for a 6 hour flight. The seats were super uncomfortable with no head rest, no personal entertainment devices were provided, and there was no general entertainment for the whole plane-seriously I've never been so bored. I would have fallen asleep from boredom but the seat was too uncomfortable so I couldn't even do that. The plane landed in Seattle but sat without unloading passengers for 20 minutes because the gate crew wasn't ready. We didn't get our checked baggage for over an hour after landing. When asked, customer service reps said that the S gate was far from baggage claim-seriously I'm not sure how that is a reasonable excuse. Other airlines arrive into S gates and have timely baggage claim service. American Airlines has no standard for timely baggage claim service like other airlines (Alaska) so there were no repercussions for such late baggage service. We left the airport with our luggage over 90 minutes after the plane landed. The entire experience is just another example of American Airlines of why the terrorists won't even fly American Airlines. I was seriously disappointed to find out that the British Airways flights we booked were operated by American instead of BA crews. I seriously will never select this option (or fly American) again if I can help it."

Gate staff lied about the status of the plane, updating the boarding time to 10 minutes and then announcing that the plane was still in the hangar. Passengers would have been much happier to hear the truth of a 2h delay so that we could get food/drink. Instead we had 2h worth of promises that the plane was leaving in 10 mins. No effort was made at being nice--no free snacks or whatever would be nice to make people feel cared for. But what's worse was the flight attendants. I don't even feel like getting into it--just suffice to say these are people who should not be working in the service industry. I saw them being rude to a number of people and it made an already bad experience (with the 2h delay) that much worse. It's not that hard to be polite to people. AA should do more to hire caring, kind staff who create happy vibes even through stressful times."

Cons: "This time, however, from the get go I had problems. The attendant at ticketing sent one of my bags in without removing the part of the ticket I needed. Second, the attendant at the gate took my carry-on down because she thought it was too big. I have this bag for years and I travel with it everywhere with me. Then, I could not find my carry-on in Lima and hell started. I asked one guy that had an orange apron and was helping with the bags. I told him that I did not see my carry on. He sent me to American lost baggage upstairs. I had to wait 40 minutes for the office to open. Then the woman working there was very unprofessional and rude and told me that I should have made a claim at the counter in the baggage claim area. Well, there are no signs that indicate that there is a counter where to claim your lost bags, you have to just be clarivident and know according to LATAN personnel. They found my bag and call us around 3:45PM, when they close at 5PM. Well getting to the airport before 5pm was a Mission Impossible action movie. Try getting to the airport in Lima during rush hour...finally, I got there on time to get my bag, had another encounter with another personnel that, again, attempted to blame it on me instead of doing her job efficiently and with a smile on her face...What is wrong with airlines personnel???"

Cons: "Flight delayed by 5 hours last minute, making my layover 17 hours long. The delay caused my car rental place to give away my reservation so I had to wait an additional 2.5 hours to get a rental car. The primary reason for my travel was a wedding and although I made the actual wedding, I missed most of the pre-wedding activities that I had rsvped for. The seats were really uncomfortable, particularly the lack of low back support. I was very sore after the flight and was unable to sleep despite having been awake for over 24 hours prior to the flight. We were finally given meal tickets but was unable to use as everything closed at 10pm."
