Your guide to booking Nassau flights

From booking to airport arrival, find tips to help you plan your flight with more confidence.
  • For the best chance at a low fare to Nassau, aim to book around 8 weeks before you fly. That window historically saves about 7% versus last-minute pricing based on KAYAK booking data over the last 12 months.
  • For flights to Nassau, recent KAYAK data shows that stronger deals tend to land around $362 round-trip. If you see a fare below that threshold, it's a strong deal – book before the price climbs back up.
  • If you can choose when to go, time your trip to Nassau around September. Round-trip fares historically average $439 that month – typically the cheapest month to travel based on the last 12 months.
  • Before you book:

    • Check the route's typical price range so you can spot a deal.
    • Confirm baggage fees and seat-selection costs on budget carriers.
    • Verify whether you need any travel documents beyond ID.
    • Pick a departure airport, since your nearest may not be the cheapest origin.
  • Shift your departure to afternoon to save up to $251 per round-trip. Afternoon flights to Nassau average $362 compared to $613 for evening flights. See the time-of-day chart above for the full breakdown.
  • Bag allowances vary by airline, fare type, cabin class and route. On flights to Nassau, some airlines may include bags at no extra cost. For example, Bahamasair includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy Class, JetBlue includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy Class and American Airlines includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy Class. Always check the fare details before booking, since bag policies can change by ticket type.
  • Once you arrive in Nassau, a few great places to start are Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island and Bahamas Historical Society Museum. These are popular with first-time visitors and can give you a good feel for the area.
  • If you’re booking a flight to Nassau, you will most likely be traveling through Lynden Pindling International Airport, as it is the only airport located on the same island as Nassau. Many flights that continue on to Grand Bahama International have layovers in Lynden Pindling International Airport, making it a bustling location.
  • Because Nassau Paradise Island is one of the only destinations in the Caribbean that allows for pre-clearance entry into the US, travelers can perform all of their necessary customs inspections at Lynden Pindling International Airport before their flight. This means that no customs declarations are needed upon landing in the US, and you can instead immediately head to your connecting flight or destination.
  • For those that are traveling with children, make sure to stop by the various play areas located in Lynden Pindling International Airport. Placed in both Departures and Arrivals, these play areas feature games and activities for a variety of ages, making it a fun way to keep children entertained.
  • Hoping to have a relaxing travel experience either after your flight to Nassau lands or before your departing flight takes off? Take advantage of the two private lounges located in Lynden Pindling International Airport, known as Lignum Club and Graycliff Airport Lounge. Each of these lounges provides guests with drinks, snacks, comfortable chairs, and televisions, making it a popular place to unwind.
  • If you are traveling from Lynden Pindling International Airport to Nassau’s downtown, consider taking a taxi, as it is one of the easiest and quickest ways to travel throughout the region. Without additional traffic, a taxi ride should take you less than 30 minutes to arrive in the heart of Nassau.
  • NAS has a variety of accessible facilities and services for those with mobility issues. This includes accessible elevators, accessible restrooms, and accessible parking in the short-term lots. Furthermore, wheelchairs are available at the request of passengers. It’s advised to contact your airline in advance.
  • Are you traveling to Lyndon Pindling International Airport with a service animal or emotional support animal? Although there are no dedicated animal relief areas, the Nassau Airport itself is relatively small and easy to navigate, so it shouldn’t take too much time to make it outside to a nice open area.
  • Do you want to soak in all the Bahamian sun you can get while in Nassau? If so, consider eating at the outdoor picnic area. The two outdoor patios are located near the food court area.
  • Although both Bahamian Dollars (BSD) and US Dollars (USD) are accepted in most areas of the Bahamas, it can still be helpful to have local BSD with you. NAS has currency exchange services at the check-in areas at both the Domestic and International Terminals. Open weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm (and a bit later on Friday).
  • Stressed after a long flight to Nassau Airport? If so, consider visiting the Windermere Nail and Spa Bar for a massage, a manicure, or both. It’s located at Gate C-42.

They announced a mechanical issue prior to boarding Said it was fixed, we boarded Waited Then learned it was not fixed Had to deplane and go to new gate Bought wifi on plane and it never worked

The plane was a rather tired 737-800, with old style small luggage bins. Poor air flow. USB charger in the infotainment system was not functioning. The flight was 2 hours late due to crew rest requirements (not their fault). On arrival in Seattle, waited on the tarmac for 30 minutes with very few updates from the crew.

Flight was delayed and we were on the runway after landing for 30 mins

The plane is old. There was water dripping fown from the air cooling system. The toilets were mot that clean

We were delayed so pilots can rest and had no WiFi the whole trip. First class seats are small compared to other planes

The experience was bad. Flight was delayed to handle maintenance (understandable) but still there was some dew forming and dropping as droplets on few seats. Internet at best was allowing some browsing but at a snail pace.

We were delayed 2 hours because of a broken seat. Other than that it was a very nice flight.

There needs to be better accommodations for waiting passengers. A a designated standing space that is separated and away from concourse traffic.

My seats are comfortable because I choose to fly in the exit rows and this time upgraded to first class with minimum sky miles. Otherwise, I would not be happy in regular seats or even middle comfort seats. Onboarding on the return flight from Nashville to Atlanta was hot and very uncomfortable for over 30 minutes due to extreme hot weather. However, Delta should provide some other air flow option as it was almost unbearable until 10 minutes after take-off. First class seats should be equipped with cup holders. Currently, the middle console is used and is flat and prone to spilling drinks.

Delta was fine though my flight was delayed 4 hours into LGA and my return into ORD involved a taxi of 1+ hour to the gate

Flight did not have wifi service. It was experiencing technical difficulties. Definitely and old plane that needs updating.

Very Poor. Significant delays getting to Chicago and then very poor communication on delays in Chicago to Cleveland. We could have rented a car and driven there faster than the delays ended up being.

A little more friendliness from that crew of the day.

The app logs you out right when you are boarding requiring all passwords and reservation number for the flight. Super annoying

The pre-order only approach for fresh food is really challenging

This flight has a history of leaving late, however, I was pleasantly surprised that it was not delayed this day. The flight went smooth, except I was in a window seat and the wall and my feet were freezing. I found it difficult to sleep due to being so cold, I also was using 2 provided UAL blankets and could not get my feet warm. This was annoying, but I still made it there on time and safe.

Staff didn't seem confident about the ingredients in my lactose intolerance meal

the seat has a problem. the back had a hole.

Had a crying baby and a toddler behind me so it was difficult to get comfortable. Searing was tight even for a relatively small person like myself (5’8” 155). Fast flight but arrived so early the gate assigned was still occupied by another plane so we had to wait for about 20-25 minutes to get reassigned to a new gate and get over there.

Internet was not working for a bet . Hard to order food with our credit card because it was not in your system .

The plane was late getting to Ontario by half an hour which makes it inconvenient when you have people waiting for you.

Luggage handling and communication is extremely poor. I landed in india 15th and recived luggage today. Based on my itag the luggage was in Germany. They kept me in dark. Etihad num er in india was non operatuonal. Had to call USA etihad. It should not be so difficullt. I came for 1 week business trip everything was screwed . This is the first and also will be last for me

There was no service on the flight even though there was no turbulence or any other issues on the flight. Nobody greeted at the entry or leaving the airplane, staff crew looked annoyed and not helpful at all.

mechanical problem delayed more than 2 hours on the run way.

I paid extra for a seat up front and at last minute was moved to the 2nd to last row - which I could have had for free. No reason and no refund. Really great customer service American

You guys broke my bag so not good, and that was the cherry on top after a 4 hour delay, change of gates, etc.

I have to sit in the middle for more than five hours because the first flight was delayed. Terrible experience. No more American Airlines.

The first flight was delayed by an hour and a half, so we missed the second flight. They rebooked us on the later flight and I have to sit in the middle for more than 5 hours. Terrible experience. No more American Airlines.

Didnt realize i had bought a seat that couldnt recline. Not horrible as it was very short flight.

Typically, I am always impressed with American personnel. These you run into the rude old hags that are still around. I can tell over my 40 years of flying with them, they have made strides in improving their attitudes.

My screen didn’t work, my seat didn’t recline, the flight attendant was rude and completely dismissive, the airplane was freezing, the seats are way old, slanted and uncomfortable. I payed for a full ticket and got a horrific experience, with a flight attendant who dismissed me even though I was calm respectful and polite.

Very poor help no one answering a question regarding seating. Very rude staff. They don’t care, as if it’s not part of their job. Flight was delayed for no good reason and no apologies given.

It was my worse flying experience. It was my first time and last time flying with Jet Blue.

The wifi didn't work and I needed to do some work. This was a business trip.

It was my first time in Jetblue flight in 10+ years(?) and the experience was horrible. You were better before. There were ATC delays sitting/waiting in the tarmac for 2 hours, I understand that this isn't Jetblue's problem but how the matter was handled poorly is. Cabin was so warm and hot couldn't get it to cool down for the entire waiting period worse, even during cruise flight. Start, the passengers were spoken to and treated like a little children with no respect. Constant/multiple annoying tone/voice PA announcements of mentioning "... only big/large suitcases are for the bin and small ones need to be placed under the seat, etc,..." I see that flight was delayed and crew were trying to get the plane ready to board as soon as they can but the way they presented was lack of better word, condesending and scolding tone to cattle. It was definite unpleasant, unwelcoming flight experience I have ever had with Jetblue. Whatever happen to smiles and fun employees , pleasant/helpful gate agents, flight attendants, crews, where have they gone? It was dissapointing flight experience overall from everyone. Sorry for the direct transparency.

Flight was cancelled as JetBlue could not find a pilot. Communication was poor and they did nothing for stranded passengers. Flight they rebooked us on was 4 days out.

Direct tv did not work on flight Short flight so no good service offered Arrived early to destination and had to wait for gate to open. Deplaned LATER than if we arrived on time!! Poor planning Jet blue has had something go wrong on every flight I’ve taken with them in last five years. Terribly run airline

No internet on a flight over three hours in this age is criminal. Staff inattentive and dismissive

The staff at JFK were rude and unhelpful. I was harassed for the same bag that I used on my flight to jfk with no issues claiming it was the inappropriate size. The women then allowed my travel companion to board with the same size bag because they thought she was more “humble”. Also on the flight when informing the flight attendant that nationals no longer have to fill out the Bahamas immigration form my statement was met with eye rolling and attitude.

I actually missed my first scheduled flight and caught it the next day. I think the check in procedure was mishandled by the baggage handler but the staff were very accommodating.

They cut off check in at 1 hr, while we were in line, & sold our seats.

Delays, changing flight times and screws us up when connecting with another flight . It’s the same ole story. Bahamasair don’t care and no one holds them accountable.

Poor, every time it’s Delays, delayed by 3 hrs to depart and still waiting in airport as another delay with no updates , Bahamasair is the worst and they are not interested in improving.

I love everything about bahamasair. Especially the safety they have for the people. I don't care how long they delay once I reach safe that's all. They made me not afraid to fly anymore

Going the plane was late and then Bahamas Air chartered another plane to take the passengers to San Salvador.

Flight was delayed more than 2 hours in departure. Boarding was lengthy and passengers were very rude. I waited on the plane for almost an hour once boarded and it was very hot. The passenger next to me was clearly I’ll: coughing and sneezing the entire flight.

Booked thru you. Paid and was supposed to have 1 checked bag and seat 3 C; with the same for my wife sitting on the opposite side of the aisle in 3D. At airport we had to pay $ 25 each for 1 bag each.. we’d were given seats inn row 17

Nothing to add! I will definately use your website again. Thank you

It was a safe flight and am happy to be back on the ground in my island.

Bahamasair needs to shut down. All staff are rude, not experienced and lack character! We arrived to the airport with more than enough time and due to the strike that the airport is having we were stuck in TSA and unable to catch our flight due to the Bahamasair staff!
