The flight to Washington was fine. It was the flight back that I have issues with.

My issue with flying back American is that...I didn't. They boarded us on the plane, moved down the tarmac, and then checked to see that we had a brake problem. They took our plane out of service (which I get, I would want brakes before takeoff), but then they never updated us on our status, until I physically went to the counter to ask an hour later. This is when they informed me that the flight was cancelled and we were rebooked on the 9pm flight (Mind you, this is 12:30p and I have a 2 year old with me). Luckily, I was able to book JetBlue and get home earlier (8:00pm)

That I got home safely

From the get go it was an awful experience ... I travel with an emotional support animal as does my husband because we don't do well with flying. I have anxiety to the max about it & my husband gets ulcerative colitis flare ups any time he's stressed out which is usually while we fly and having our dogs with us turkey makes us feel better. When I called to tell them over the phone we would have our emotional support animal I got an attitude as if I hadn't been doing this for the last 4 years. She reiterated to me that we needed in addition to the letterhead from the doctor a form filled out (which we both did ) . Brought to the airport and sit had to sit at the counter like the girl didn't know what she was doing. Fast forward to finally getting to the gate after being stressed and our flight was delayed. This now only made our 50 min layover in DC 20 min by the time we landed. We ran from one gate to the next hoping we wouldn't miss our flight and when we got there they wouldn't let us on the plane saying things like "your dogs are not on this flight" "there is no documentation" "well then you must not have the right paperwork" ... in front of a bunch of people in line, out of breath, and now embarrassed I am forced to take out my folder and give them all the paperwork I had just given to the customer service desk before our first flight. They let everyone on the plane and still made us stand there and finally said "just go but your dogs aren't on this flight". Fast forward AGAIN to sitting on the flight the flight attendant comes over and says "guys where's you carrier the dogs need to be under the seats" .. we peoceeded again to explain for the seventh time that they were emotional support animals ... she then proceeded "no they are not they are not even listed on this flight" at this point I'm EXTREMLY embarrassed because people on the plane are paying attention and drawing attention to us but not only that ... I have been doing this for years .. I ALWAYS have the proper documentation as does my husband and we have never ran into this kind of disappointment and embarrassment from any airline until now. I was so stressed out to begin with and this deffinately didn't help ... nor did it make us wants to fly on American again. I felt pushed aside, embarrassed, and belittled by multiples employees ... all because the first employee clearly made a mistake and didn't document things correctly ... that should have never been put on us .

Overall the flight was great. I was carrying a suit in a hanging bag and asked the flight attendant in first class if there was a place I could hang it. She politely offered to hang it behind the last row of first class since none were in use. When getting off the plane, I grabbed my bag as I walked off and the other flight attendant said "you can't put your bag there, it isn't for you" to which I replied that I was told I could use the hanger. She then said "well you shouldn't have been given permission, and don't do it again, it isn't for you." The tone was a bit rude, and maybe the consistency should be reviewed.

delayed in piecemeal by 6 hrs before move to another gate. than mechanical delay and then cancelled. Arrived at hotel after midnight without food or drink. Substitute flight was next day noon - original offer was for late afternoon flight! That flight had poor service. Attendant dawdled so there were no drinks served.

Full plane, long wait to use lavatory. Crew was good, but should have upped their game under the circumstances, especially with regards to keeping the lavatory clean. The noodles for breakfast turned out to be porridge, and went straight to the waste basket.

I felt like the Sr. Flight Attendance and the Pilot weren't on the same page. -Pilot: "Everyone remain seated" -Sr. Flight Attendant: "We are now going to start serving refreshments" Not sure what was going on there, but at least we arrived safely.

Improper handling of situation. There was flight scheduled later, but CS agent kept jerking us around. By the time I reached the United counter, the next flight was full. My total flight time was 36 hours. I still can’t believe that the pilot was missing. Worse yet, the agent at the gate could have made things much easier instead of telling everyone that a pilot was on his way to the airport.

Poor communication. Flight originally at 11:35, then 12:05, then 12:15... At 11:55, they said they would start boarding in 20 min. How can you do that and still take off at 12:15? Answer: you can't. Just be honest and keep us informed. Bonus: United sent me an email saying that connection had already left (it hadn't - thanks United! - awesome service as always!)

Flight was cancelled on our way back home from Gudalajara, was speaking to a representative for almost 2 hours to get me on the next flight the flight representative forgot to put me on hold and told everyone how rude i was, i was not rude i was just trying to get home. The representative couldn’t help me so i asked to be transferred to a manager, after 2 hours i was transferred and the manager hung the phone up. Long story short i called back spoke to another manager Yana and she was the rudest lady ever! She basically told me for waiting to long i will have to be placed on a flight 2 days after my cancellation flight. I started to cry because i needed to be home and she basically did not care so i took the date. Never again and i will warn everyone about this airline and their customer service!

We ran from one gate to the next hoping we wouldn't miss our flight and when we got there they wouldn't let us on the plane saying things like "your dogs are not on this flight" "there is no documentation" "well then you must not have the right paperwork" ... in front of a bunch of people in line, out of breath, and now embarrassed I am forced to take out my folder and give them all the paperwork I had just given to the customer service desk before our first flight. They let everyone on the plane and still made us stand there and finally said "just go but your dogs aren't on this flight". Fast forward AGAIN to sitting on the flight the flight attendant comes over and says "guys where's you carrier the dogs need to be under the seats" .. we peoceeded again to explain for the seventh time that they were emotional support animals ... she then proceeded "no they are not they are not even listed on this flight" at this point I'm EXTREMLY embarrassed because people on the plane are paying attention and drawing attention to us but not only that ... I have been doing this for years .. I ALWAYS have the proper documentation as does my husband and we have never ran into this kind of disappointment and embarrassment from any airline until now. I was so stressed out to begin with and this deffinately didn't help ... nor did it make us wants to fly on American again. I felt pushed aside, embarrassed, and belittled by multiples employees ... all because the first employee clearly made a mistake and didn't document things correctly ... that should have never been put on us .

Very friendly cabin crew made this trip pleasant and entertaining.

Despite plenty of empty seats, the ground personnel would not consider changing our seat assignment at the gate to allow us to sit together.

The flight to Washington was fine. It was the flight back that I have issues with.

My issue with flying back American is that...I didn't. They boarded us on the plane, moved down the tarmac, and then checked to see that we had a brake problem. They took our plane out of service (which I get, I would want brakes before takeoff), but then they never updated us on our status, until I physically went to the counter to ask an hour later. This is when they informed me that the flight was cancelled and we were rebooked on the 9pm flight (Mind you, this is 12:30p and I have a 2 year old with me). Luckily, I was able to book JetBlue and get home earlier (8:00pm)

That I got home safely

From the get go it was an awful experience ... I travel with an emotional support animal as does my husband because we don't do well with flying. I have anxiety to the max about it & my husband gets ulcerative colitis flare ups any time he's stressed out which is usually while we fly and having our dogs with us turkey makes us feel better. When I called to tell them over the phone we would have our emotional support animal I got an attitude as if I hadn't been doing this for the last 4 years. She reiterated to me that we needed in addition to the letterhead from the doctor a form filled out (which we both did ) . Brought to the airport and sit had to sit at the counter like the girl didn't know what she was doing. Fast forward to finally getting to the gate after being stressed and our flight was delayed. This now only made our 50 min layover in DC 20 min by the time we landed.
