Cons: They tried to up-sell us on a dozen extra services and neglected to mention the cost of those services. To make us buy their gasoline service, they lied about the price of gas outside the airport.
The bill ended up costing $70 more than I was quoted, and they were unable to explain some of the fees that appeared on the bill.

Poor Service overalll
Pros: That there was a rental
Cons: They told me my car wasn't available for two hours then said they had a car available but made me pay for it. I reserved my car days ahead of time. Ridiculous.

Car was fine; service was difficult
Pros: Price was perfect. Car was clean and well maintained.
Cons: When I went to rent, they expected me to have proof of address other than my license. Who carries around a utility bill with them? Particularly when they are flying. I was able to finally show them something online that was "acceptable," but they made me feel like they were doing me a favor by letting me use it. Nothing in the reservation process or on the Payless website says anything about needing to have more than one source of address verification.

The Ford Focus
Pros: The car itself was a great little car. I would even consider shopping for one when my current lease is up.
Cons: I had to wait about an hour for them to get me a car that I had reserved. I understand the weekend was crowded with golf tournaments in Hilton Head, but if you reserve a car, it should be there for you. I did not like the fact that the previous renters had smoked in the car and my wife got a headache as a result. And being charged for a full tank of gas when the tank had 1/3 of a tank left was not agreeable. Next time, I will fill the tank and be done with the extra fees the industry tacks on to a bill in an effort to make FREE money.

Cons: Reserved the car days ahead of time. When i showed up the man at the desk said bluntly "We dont have any economy cars in our fleet." I responded that i had made a reservation. "He repeated bluntly "we dont have any economy cars in our fleet, we overbooked." So I asked if he could give me a different car at the same rate and he responded very rudely "I'm not giving you anything." Guy was just plain rude and has no business working in the service industry in any form. So i went to the next rental booth over and was greeted with a smile and helped on my way. Good job overbooking. What exactly is a reservation for anyway Payless? Negative stars

Pros: At Savannah airport, rental office is in airport and you can just walk to cars. Nobody else in line when we arrived so everything was quick and efficient.

No cars available when we arrived 9pm Savannah air
Cons: We were told that there were no cars available (we had a reservation!!). Perhaps no cars would be available for 1.5 hours (that would make it 10:30pm). Referred us to Hertz where we were able to get a car, but of course for more money than our Payless reservation.
Cons: Long lines and not enough staff at pick up.Also discrepancy with mileage at drop off put me back in line at drop off too .

Budget needs a faster check in and check out proc
Pros: The car was a nice new car and very comfortable.
Cons: We had to wait in long lines to both pick up and drop off the car. Once we signed in and were assigned a car we were then told we had to wait for the car to arrive. We waited another 20 minutes before the car was made available to us. Then when we went out to get the car we were given the wrong car. After we loaded our luggage, we realized the key would not start the car. We then had to go back to the outside attendant and explain that the key did not work. The attendants then figured out that they had given us the wrong car. We then transferred out luggage. The entire process took us close to an hour.

Pros: Even with no one else at the check in counter it took over 15 minutes to get the paperwork done because he couldn't find a car for us. Then with my wife's bad knee, we had to walk two blocks to the pick up place. There we had to wait with no place to sit for another half hour before the car arrived. The was a water cooler there "for Budget customers" that was empty.
Pros: Friendly staff person, no problem finding third party rental reservation. Had the car requested.
Cons: No one to go over the car with me on the outside when picking it up or returning.

Cons: i locked my key in the car in error. the people at sav/hhi were of no help. all they wanted to do was tell me what i was not covered for. not helpful at all. dealt with my mistake on my own.

Confusion about terms of best price deal
Pros: The desk staff was very courteous and polite, and worked to get us what we wanted when it became apparent that our first choice was unsuitable.
Cons: We took the "best deal" through an online discount booking, and did not realize that it meant we'd get whatever vehicle might be available (it probably says that, but it showed a picture of a compact car and we did not read carefully). The vehicle available was a large passenger van, unsuitable for our trip. We paid a little more and got a normal midsized sedan instead, but felt a bit deceived by the advertising. Also the desk staff, although very polite, seemed somewhat disorganized; they gave the impression that they were experiencing delays and shortages that day.

Cons: I had no Idea Avis and Budget were the same. Got scolded for standing in the Avis line -I had made the reservation through Avis. So I moved to the line she to. She then moved down to that station and waited on me. I think I will go back to Hertz after this trip
