The hotel didn't get my reservation from Booking.com. The staff was very nice though and honored the rate that I said I had booked and gave me a room. The room service menu is very so-so.
NIce hotel in a good location Lobby and bar area are lacking. Room bathrooms need updates.
Best hotel experience ever. Incredible staff and service, incredible accommodations in a historic building and a perfect location. It was beautiful.
The atmosphere is just beautiful- full of history. The staff are wonderful. This is our second 'annual' Oxford Hotel stay to celebrate our 23rd anniversary. Once the gentleman heard this at check-in, he sent up a complimentary bottle of wine - which was very good. It was a very nice stay- a bit pricey for one night. I wish it were more affordable.
The staff and the room Having to leave
Room was very clean & comfortable. Convenient property close to 16th St. & Union Station. Lobby ambiance was warm and classical. Bell staffs and valet were courteous and friendly. Morning coffee service at elevator area was thoughtful. Elevator floor w/accurate days of the week was great for international travelers and for those coming from different time zones. Finally, ...michael, the Director of Operations, very courteous, friendly, diligent and took ownership of guest concerns. His presence pretty much negates other negative issues surrounding hotel staffs. Unable to cash "American Express" travelers check. Last I checked, the Traveler's Check was for Travelers & still good as cash. It was embarrassing to be told that our traveler's check was not accepted and cannot be cashed here. Proper phraseology should've been, " We are sorry, current our hotel policy does not allow us to cash any traveler's check at this time." Instead, we were told, "We don't cash traveler's check here." Diplomacy and style of delivery is still a part of customer service.
The staff was unbelievably helpful, polite & courtesy. There was a historical feeling of era gone by. I love leaving my key at the desk to be put in my room slot. The beds are beautiful but mattresses can be more comfort.
The Oxford Hotel is an example of Denver at it's best. I loved returning, after 20 years, for an overnight stay. Apparently, Orbit booked me for two rooms. The Oxford Hotel informed me of your error, and only charged me for one. Thankfully to them, the mistake was corrected .
Great location ,classic decor, nice rooms and the staff were very friendly
Upon our arrival, the ancient Land Rover embarrassingly lost a bunch of coolant fluids. The valets took care of us and the next day filled the radiator. I wish we'd gotten the valet's name who did this---he was excellent. The Cruise Room bartender was professional. The entire hotel was run with quiet efficiency; a sort of european grace and style. After reading the menu at McCormick's, we wish we'd eaten there, although for breakfast, the small Italian place across the street was rather nice, too. We'd certainly stay at The Oxford again. Whoever is in charge seems to understand the clientele, because it's well-run. My guess is that he or she has stayed at quite a few good hotels, been to excellent schools, or both. Keith Doughty
From the moment we walked into the lobby, we knew we had picked the right place. Everything about the hotel is intended to insure the comfort and experience for their guests. From the old key and hassle room key to the Victorian period furnishings to the Cruise Room bar, you feel like you are part of another time. The staff was fantastic, the service was 5 star and the custom cocktails and history lesons in the Cruise Room were fantastic. Best location in Downtown. Perfect for first time Denver visitors or anyone looking for the perfect weekend getaway. The bed was too high and too firm for my taste and the only chair in the room was not comfortable. It is a hard balance to use period furnishings and keep them comfortable to today's standards I'm sure.
The entire experience was a pleasure. The staff was very accommodating, from the desk clerks to the bellmen to the manager. They Upgraded our room to a better view. The bourbon tasting was a nice touch and our breakfast in bed was delicious. Can't wait to return on our next trip to Denver.
I loved almost everything about my stay. The room and hotel were beautifully decorated and very clean. The staff were all very friendly and professional. Room service was incredibly fast, and the food was delicious. I was given a corner room as a surprise and that was very, very cool. I only have a couple minor complaints. To start, there were some stains on the carpet and some chipped paint on the walls. The room also had a funny smell, but I figured it was just "old building" smell. My biggest issue was that I wasn't sure if the balcony was supposed to be private or not. It wraps around the whole building, but each balcony is separated by a large potted plant that was easy to step over. I figured that meant "private balcony" so we left our curtains open to enjoy the sunshine, and I happened to be undressed when the guests from the next room over stepped over the plant and walked across our balcony to look around the corner. It was very embarrassing. Either the hotel should have let us know that our balconies aren't exactly private, or they should put up barriers that you can't just walk over. Another small issue, they only gave us decaf coffee in the room.
Doesn't act like a penny-pinching hotel. Offers free wireless, free shuttle within two miles, complimentary breakfast. Great place. Quiet rooms.
location not great value, poor windows, tiny fitness center
Hotel concierge and door men were very pleasant very positive attitudes!
Great location, staff, overt appearance and cleanliness. The staff went above and beyond when they heard my concerns and righted a poor nights sleep. Thank you. Had a king corner room. Ended up on the 2nd floor. Could hear everything outside due to poor window construction. Shower head was comeing out of the ceiling with plaster on the shower floor. Vanity mirror was cheap had lights out and didn't hold a position and was therefore useless.
Excellent staff, wonderful location and very comfortable all around. More reasonable food options e.g. continental breakfast.
Staff was amazing and very helpful. We were in town for a Broncos game and a hotel car was able to take us there. However we were able to walk because location wasn't too far. We used car for another trip but this place has such a location we were able to walk most of downtown. I hope kayak has deals for them again because we would love to come back!
The room was beautiful, comfortable and clean. We loved having a balcony. The elevators were a bit dated, but it's an older building, so it's somewhat expected.
Enjoyed the location. Never had been to Denver. Being at this grand hotel made the trip worth my time there. Lots of activities and walking distance to everything. Really felt like being in a microcosm of New York less the hustle-bustle. Restaurants at the Union Station were superb. Security was at every corner. I wasn't sure that was because of the crime or just to deter it. But as a woman at night alone, I felt extremely safe walking around exploring. Being a smoker, there really wasn't well established designated smoking areas so I got harassed a few times. But they were friendly and pointed me to a direction to smoke. Needless to say, I didn't smoke much. That was good.
Great location with easy walk and free buses around lower downtown. Hotel was lively and seemed a focal point for the area. Large sidewalk fountain outside for little kids (I didn't have mine with me). Staff seemed a little stiff and geared toward yuppies, but this place is a yuppie's dream. They were very helpful, but enjoyed reminding me that they helped me with an early checkin, like they anticipated me fighting over the bill... just odd.
The hotel is inside Union Station and the entire facility was recently renovated, so everything is brand new and very well done. There are excellent dining options within Union Station and within walking distance. The room wasn't large, but arranged in a way that made it feel cozy, not cramped. The historic preservation and modern updates were very well done.
BEAUTIFUL, QUIET ROOMS. NICE SELECTION OF PLACES TO EAT AND DRINK. COOL IPAD WITH ALARM CLOCK AND FREE INTERNET AND ROOM SERVICE,ETC. THE ACTUAL LOBBY/CHECK IN DESK WAS OUT OF THE WAY AND VERY SMALL. MAKES IT A BIT DIFFICULT TO "MEET IN THE LOBBY" WHEN JOINING FRIENDS. VALET OR EXPENSIVE GARAGE PARKING ARE THE ONLY REAL OPTIONS AS THE METERS ARE ONLY 30 MIN OR 120 MIN AND GO UNTIL MIDNIGHT AND START AT 6AM.
Very friendly staff. Great rooms. Valet service didnt perform well. Called for car..no answer. Then front desk clerk gave them our room # instead of ticket # and they didnt have car ready.
Friendly staff, all necessary facilities available such as a free shuttle service within 3 miles radius; coin operated laundry; complementary breakfast; microwave and fridge in the room; free local calls etc., prompt service, good room service some comment by the person who serves breakfast there seemed minimally racist..
Cleanliness, modern, conveniant
Hotel is pretty much brand new as of the time of this review. Very modern and hip. The bed was comfortable, room was very clean, staff was friendly. Check out is at noon which is always appreciated. They charge $42 PER DAY for parking. We ended up parking a few blocks away at a parking garage which was only $10 because it was the weekend, but that would be over $30 if it were a week day. Also, they make it so you can't quite close the curtains all the way, which is always annoying.
They have rules/surcharges for EVERYthing. Want to ck in a little early? Surcharge. Even if your room is empty and ready they make you wait until 4pm, unless you want to pay $25/35/45 extra. Have a friend ckg into your room later? Better be there to meet them bc the hotel has a policy that you can't list their name as well on the room for a key. 11am is ckout. They cut the power to your TV at 11:00am sharp. Need to stay 5 min past then? You guessed it: surcharge. The least helpful hotel I've stayed in at this (high) price point. I paid a LOT to stay here but was very underwhelmed, and I travel extensively. Also, please note the shower is encased in all glass. In the middle of your hotel room. No walls. So your buddy gets to watch you shower in the outfit you were born in. Pure nakedness. Yep.
location to train and Red Rocks shuttle TOO LOUD--doors slamming all night because there is no carpet or rugs anywhere to absorb sound. Sounded like prison doors slamming until 3 am. Also--the AC fan is so loud you couldn't sleep or listen to TV. No hooks in bathroom for clothing. Stained furniture. Unless location to Union station is paramount, would not recommend or return.
We stayed here last week in a one bedroom while attending a nutrition conference. We hit the jackpot with this condo!! The front desk was EXTREMELY helpful and understanding, and it's within walking distance to the Convention Center, 16th street mall, etc! The views from the balcony were amazing and there was great security. It's surrounded by restaurants that are great to eat at (looove 24 hour leelas!!). There was free wireless internet which was great since all of us brought our computers. This was a million times better than staying at a hotel because we had a lot more room. In the one bedroom (not the penthouse) there is a full kitchen with fridge, dining room, desk, sofa bed in the living room, balcony with an entrance from the living room and bedroom, a queen size bed in the bedroom, tv in both bedroom and living room, and bathroom with vanity. Everyone was really friendly and we loved to use the fitness room. The only problem we had was that it was hard to find a nearby grocery store without having to take a taxi..This was a lot cheaper than staying in a hotel because we stayed 4 nights. I hope next time I go back to Denver, I can find a room there!
Very convenient location, very clean, I’d recommend it without any hesitation !!
It's not really a hotel. It's a condo building with full time residents. There is a guy there who leases several of the units and rents them out through web. The problem is, is that the Brooks Tower staff have no idea what this guy is doing......Checking in took me more than two hours....continued to be bad for the rest of the time there.
This place was a great find! It was well maintained for the most part. We had some difficulty obtaining more than one key for the condo, but got by with leaving a key at the front desk with staff when we each left. We did have a small issue with the toilet not filling and flushing properly, but we just filled up the tank occasionally with a pot full of water from the bathtub. It really was worth the money to have a full kitchen, spaceous living room/dining room and private bedroom. The balcony was nice and had a beautiful view of the mountains/sunset. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it!
If you approach this like you are borrowing your Aunt Rose's apartment for a few days rather than an getting a hotel room, you may be prepared for the disappointments and get to enjoy all the benefits. There are plenty of both. First the bad. This is not a hotel room or a hotel. No one ever came to clean, replace towels, or take out the trash. I never did find an iron or ironing board. The refrigerator did not have an ice maker and when I called the owner he suggested buying a bag of ice at 7-11. The internet was down when I arrived and I was told to call customer support. The reading light in the headboard of the bed works when you twist the bulb in just enough, but then it is hot as Hades to try to turn back off. The refrigerator had left over food (and beer) in it. For the good... great location. Right downtown for about the same price as the pricier hotels. The place is bigger and nicer than any hotel room could be with a full kitchen, full dining room, leather couch in the den. HD TV's throughout, including one over the hot tub. Awesome view of the mountains from the spacious balcony with plenty of seating. Overlooking Mile-High Stadium and the mountains. I was here on business and stayed here because the hotels were sold out. For my purposes, I just needed a downtown location with internet service and someone to pick up my towels. So for me it fell short of the necessities but was overkill on the luxuries. If I were to come here with my wife for recreation, this would be ideal. Great for that, but business travel... not so much.
I was surprised by the one bedroom apartment I had and it was the same price as the higher end hotels in the area. There is a full kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom, and bedroom. There is not housekeeping but I don't need it. It appears to be someone's apartment that they rent out.
I found this hotel last minute for the GSA Convention. It was great, a one bedroom apartment for the same price and in some cases much less expensive than other surrounding hotels. It had a beautiful view of the Front Range and was very quiet. Only 4 blocks from the convention center, 1 block from the performing arts center, and 1 block from 16th Street. Very easy to get to from downtown Denver. Keep in mind there is no breakfast place in the hotel, no concierge, and no one to carry your luggage. Everyone at the front desk are very nice and no need to worry about security.
Easily the worst experience ever..................
This is by far the nicest hostel I have ever slept in, down comforters and soft sheets were a real bonus. Very friendly staff and patrons. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Denver
Comfortable bed, clean bathrooms, friendly, helpful staff and patrons, quirky and interesting decor. My wife and I stayed in a private room and would definitely return here if we find ourselves in Denver again. People moving about at night were a little noisey, but once the thermostat fan kicked on i didn't notice it anymore and fell asleep.
This was my first time a.) visiting Denver and b.) staying in a hostel and c.) I could not have liked it any more than I did! The staff was helpful and welcoming, the decor and ambiance is unique and inspiring, and the connections you make with the other guests are electric! I could not have had a better first exposure to staying at a hostel. The location of Hostel Fish is also perfect - in Lower Downtown (LoDo) right near the Coors Field so there are a ton of cool bars to check out (like The Retro Room and Sidecar) or great places to eat (Ignite Burger and you'll definitely want to check out brunch and boozey breakfast cocktails at Snooze). Or if you feel so inclined to stay in, there's a small kitchen and bar in the hostel (with decent prices) so you don't even have to take off your pjs! I highly recommend staying at Hostel Fish for your Denver travels.
