Pros:
Alamo is my go-to car rental company now. Very friendly service, and their phone agents are really helpful if there's any problems. Especially when you pick up and drop off a car in different locations, which I often do.Cons:
The only problem was picking up and dropping off at locations that are NOT airports. Always call the locations before you go and know their hours of operation. These are not 24/7 satellites. One place closed at 6 pm; another at 2 pm!4.4 Mediocre

Pros:
The cost to rent a "premium" car was very reasonable and brought us out to Stamford. Robert, the office manager, was very personable and nice to work with.Cons:
The car (a Chrysler 300) had about 30K miles so it was far from new. It was filthy inside and out. The windshield was dirty on the inside which made it hard to see in some conditions. The oil was overdue to be changed and it dinged a reminder every time we started up to go somewhere. Also, it had a badly warped brake rotor. Also, it was, unfortunately, an uncomfortable car for me and not very nice to drive.10.0 Wonderful

The gentleman at checkout in Stamford was quick and professional.Cons:
The car had the wrench symbol (I.e. it was due for servicing) from the get go. The engine did not sound great and rattled such that I was concerned the car was going to break down on me. The car's tank was only 7/8 full and I had to tell the agent, who had marked it as full on my rental agreement. When I called in to change my drop-off location it took forever to get someone on the line.Hertz

The drop-off was a pure nightmare - we arrived in the evening but the office was closed and there was no possibility to drop the key. We tried again at 7am in the morning but the office opened at 8am and we had to wait for outside in the cold. Nobody informed us about this hassle.Cons:
When I picked up the car, I informed staff that we might be late this day and the person at the desk said that we can keep the return date FOR NOW. When I returned it indeed later, I did not only pay for 1 more day but also had to pay US$ 12 for delayed return and nobody alerted me about this.6.0 Okay

Manager was super rude because my passenger had left an item in the car after we turned in the keys which he considered “lost” even though they were exactly where I said they were. The first car was extremely dirty and the interior smell of cigarette. I've asked the attendant to change cars. I got another one that was dirt in the outside but at least didn't smell. The attendant at the checkin had an attitude that can not be compared with the other AVIS The person at checkout was great.Budget

It was nice to get an upgrade without having to pay for it.Cons:
The car smelled a little weird and I had to drive with the windows open for a couple of hours to air it out. The seats could use a deep clean. They are tan and fabric, so they showed wear.
