Cons: We were given a Chevy Impala for our trip in Maine. I should have went back to the counter when I had trouble starting the car. It finally started on the fourth try and we were off. Each time we stopped the car it was an adventure to see if it would start up again. Sometimes it did and others we had to turn the key up to 10 times for the car to start. Once running the car was fine. Got decent mileage with little road noise.

Cons: The automatic transmission needed some serious work. The car wouldn't accelerate very well in the low gears. It would just rev the engine and then jerk into a higher gear.

Cons: They recommended I speak to the follow up call from Enterprise, which never came.

These Guys Rock
Pros: This is my fourth year renting with Enterprise on Marginal Way in Portland, Maine. The staff is always friendly and professional, and the customer service is superb! I've never been disappointed with the car they give me--and we keep it for an entire month each time.
Cons: Loved everything about my experience!

Great prices. Excellent customer service
Pros: Friendly staff was attentive. No wait to pick up the car.
Cons: Location is hard to get to. Both from airport and making left turn to get into the intersection.

Pros: Drop-off at the Boston airport site was excellent. Well organized, quick and the bus shuttle was great!
Cons: When I picked the car up, I thought I was picking it up at the airport, come to find out when I got there, the site I chose was actually in downtown Portland. Had to take an Uber to that site to pick up the car. That was disappointing! It was labeled as (at airport) on the website...that needs to be changed. Otherwise, drop-off in Boston was excellent!

Not the vehicle class I reserved
Pros: The pickup and dropoff process was okay in Portland, ME, we weren't able to get a receipt because there wasn't anyone available at their garage during dropoff.
Cons: We reserved a specialty vehicle and were offered one of three midsized cars, which was pretty bland. When we went out to the parking lot we discovered they had lots and lots of other cars but they weren't 'available.' Overall I don't recommend Enterprise in Portland and would use one of the other in terminal companies.

Pros: Very convenient in Portland Maine, and the attendant suggested we might want to consider a four wheel drive as the storm was predicted. Excellent suggestion and worth the extra $

Easy access at the airport
Pros: The rentals were just across the airport drive and easy to walk to and from, with my suitcases.

Cons: I feel like bait and switch scam.. The car costs $110 more than what my booking said it would cost (Conf # 1226751128 at $309). Tried giving me a car in the class I ordered, but agent then said that car neeeded maintenance and he would give me a free upgrade. That's when things began to derailed. Agent stated I made reservatoins with their downtown office; even though, I requested aiport (PWM) pickup when making the reservation. The address was 1 Marginal Way on the confirmation. I have no idea where that address is - airport or city? Agent told me I would have to pay the difference ($110) which I agreed to pay as I didn't have time to argue with the agent. I still feel I was taken advantage of and will probably carefully consider before making another Enterprise reservation thru Kayak.

Pros: Car was very new with great phone plugin support
Cons: Agent messed up my rate, so I had to renegotiate after dropoff. Also car reeked of Armorall, now my belongings still have the smell!

AVOID THIS ENTERPRISE!
Pros: I have a real struggle, as a 30 plus year customer privately and with state and Federal government Enterprise car rental experience, saying anything positive about this location. I do not say this lightly, you really have to work at it to get me to say anything negative - but in the midst of a family issue that required me to take a one-way flight to Maine to take care of a parent - my reservation through Kayak was dismissed.
Cons: The counter team here failed to mention that a one way flight created an entire set of additional conditions - and that unless a roundtrip reservation and ticket was shown, they would not rent without a massive deposit on a credit card (a real convenience for those who are in the middle of multiple trips and dealing with a family crisis that does not lend itself to a schedule). Their response - check the fine print on the website. Really? Summer in Maine, busiest reservation time of the year, other rentals SOLD OUT - I have Kayak confirmation papers and Enterprise reservation number in hand - and the attitude - best of luck. Fortunately, Hertz at this same location (10 feet away) understood the situation and took care of things for me within 10 minutes, DESPITE being sold out. Seriously, I am from Maine, am and Enterprise customer, have managed rental contracts that are quite large and the attitude and customer service here was the worst in my career. This is the only negative review I have ever done online - meaning - Enterprise worked hard to earn it.

Best rent car experience ever
Pros: Got a great deal on a Lincoln MKC in Portland. Very easy check in, car ready. Very easy check out. No problems at all. EXCEPT there were a lot more fees and taxes than expressed in the deal as seen online. I frankly hate renting cars (I prefer to drive my own), but this was certainly the best experience I've ever had under the circumstances.

Pros: They were very personable and matched my price from another company. The car was exactly what we needed and it was in excellent condition. I had never driven an Infinity before, so that was another plus. They introduced us to the type of people we continued to meet in Maine: very friendly and courteous. Would use them again without question.
Cons: I cannot think of anything that was a problem.

Not what I expected from Enterprise
Pros: I reserved a compact SUV (Jeep Renegade or similar) for a week, agreeing to pay a good bit more than I could have for a smaller vehicle. My reservation was made a month in advance, and confirmed 24 hours ahead. When I arrived, no compact SUV's were available, no apology was made, and I was offered an "upgrade" to a full-size SUV or minivan - definitely NOT what I had in mind. I was then offered a VW Jetta for a $50 discount - which still left me paying about $50 more than it would have cost me had I reserved a compact car in advance from any of several other companies - but I was tired, it was late, an dI had no other viable options, so I settled for it. The customer agent tried very hard to get me to pre-purchase my gas - stating that gas stations were charging $0.20 more per gallon (not true - their price was the same.) He also stated that I would be charged only for the amount needed to top off the tank when I returned the car, which was in direct conflict with the sign on the wall behind him saying that I'd be charged for a full tank. I politely declined - twice. He said the care had been "pre-inspected" for damage and asked me to initial the "no damage" field. The garage was too dimly lit to see any damage, but, the next morning in daylight at my hotel, I found (and photographed) numerous scratches and dents. I also discovered that only one of the two key fobs worked. About mid-week through my rental, the "INSPEC" light came on every time I started the car, but when I called about it, I was told not to worry about it. When I returned the vehicle, no-one was around to check me in, but as I was walking away from the car, someone finally appeared, so I walked back just to make sure they didn't charge me for the scratches and dents (they didn't.) Overall, not a very satisfying experience, and certainly not up to the personalized service I've received in the past from Enterprise.

Pros: At the Portland jetport in Portland Maine customer service is excellent. Vehicle quality. Upgrades. Reception walked me to my car where it was driven to me and controls were fully explained. I never once have had an issue with Enterprise.
Cons: They pushed hard to sell insurance even though I was fully covered to rent.

Pros: Responsive staff on a car switch and emergency dropoff to another location due to weather. Staff was accommodating and friendly and we enjoyed the brand new DodgevDurango immensely.
