Issue with payment and air-conditioning
Cons: The air-conditioning in my vehicle was broken. I had to exchange the car, which was a hassle. Then, at payment, my card was charged 3x the amount on my receipt and in my agreement. I'm still working to figure it out.

Do your homework
Pros: Friendliness of the people who worked with us at the pickup location
Cons: Did not realize that this was not a location at or close to the airport. There was no shuttle service, so we had to find a way to get to and from ourselves.

Total cost estimate not accurate
Cons: Kayak's "total cost" estimate didn't include airport taxes and fees, which were a substantial percentage of the fee.

Cons: Car was old. (Fine, it was cheap) It smelled like marijuana (fine, I was only driving minimally for a couple days) then I received a $30 refueling charge when I filled the tank before (and I used less than a quarter of a tank the entire time I used it). Back to Avis for me!

DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ!
Cons: They did not honor my valid reservation, they did not rent me a car. They would not honor your price. I was told no cars were available when there were cars in the lot. It had nothing to do with me, they didn't want to honor your price.

Pros: Good location in the airport, friendly service. I had a few minor issues with the car and they were very responsive to my feedback. It took a while to show up on my credit card but the final price was very reasonable.

Pros: They called to confirm so glad they did this is how I found out that the car was in a different location than the airport for pick up. Their pick up and drop off was unbelievable fast.
Cons: I thought I made reservations for pick up at the airport. I had to make last minute changes to the pick up location. I think I was mislead by the booking agent not Hertz

Cons: When our flight was cancelled and we were shifted to a flight at another airport, the rental charge went from $160 to $600. That is wrong

I couldn't even rent the car
Pros: I was told that the car rental insurance had to be under my personal insurance plan, not the one I paid got when I reserved the car. Then I was told I had to meet a certain credit score criteria, and if it was too low I would be unqualified from renting the car. Also, I had to fill out a form with a lot of personal information as if I was applying for a credit card. Asked me for my social, employment, living situation, etc.
Cons: The whole situation didn't seem right to me so I'm glad I ended up not paying for this.

One car stunk, the other didn't have brakes.
Cons: Arrived at CMH, ready to pay the extra taxes for airport pick-up and drop-off, walked into Hertz, and my rental reservation was processed. They didn't bother to ask if I wanted insurance (I did), or to explain the various refueling options. It ended up not mattering anyway. The first car smelled as if someone had *just* finished smoking a low quality cigar in it, so I requested another vehicle. They gave me one...it didn't have brakes. Literally no brakes. I had to throw it into drive to avoid hitting the cars parked behind me, then drive around to another row and pull the e-brake in order to stop. I went back in, explained what happened to the utterly non-plussed agent behind the desk, who gave no response. The manager on duty seemed engrossed in his fingernails and didn't step in, either. The only time the desk guy smiled and was responsive was when I asked to cancel my reservation. I did, then walked out, got a lift from a friend, and rented an Enterprise car for half the price, including insurance.

Cons: I hadn't to return my car in middle of the rental because the maintenance light came on. As a result I had to close one contract and open another and got charged an additional 200 fee. I also had to wait for the replacement car which wasn't ready yet.

Pros: nice car, good condition and staff for pick up and drop off was excellent
Cons: NO windshield liquid which made the drive home dangerous. It started snowing and there was lots of dirt on the windshield, and because the liquid was not full I had to pull over every 1/2 hour and wipe it by hand.

Pros: Great price for the 12 days we rented the car. I only wish we could have gotten a car that was a little roomier for the driver. My husband is very large and needed a little more room between the steering wheel and his body. Overall it was a great value for us.

I WAS CHARGED FOR AN ADDITIONAL DAY
Pros: The customer service reps at both locations, South Windham, CT and Sullivant Ave in Columbus, OH, were extremely helpful and courteous. The car was clean and got me to where I needed to go.
Cons: I do not appreciate the fact that I was charged an additional day of rental. This is an error. I will be calling your corporate hq to have the erroneous charges removed from my account.

Fine car, unsatisfactory employee
Pros: Car was a 2016 and overall nice features.
Cons: At the very beginning, I walked up to the front desk and the guy behind the front desk didn't greet me or say anything at all because he was leering at a shapely woman walking across the lobby. Literally just stared at her for the length of time it took her to walk to another counter and ignored me until he was done leering. Seriously creepy. Then, the check-in process was notably delayed because he was checking his phone and texting. They also made me call my car insurance to verify my insurance, which I've never had to deal with before--annoying. The car was also not cleaned--looked like someone had spilled a coffee drink all over the passenger door and it was slightly sticky.

Cons: They were super unhelpful and the whole experience was too much of a hassle. Wanted to put a 2oo$ hold on my account for a one day rental and gave me grief bc my insurance wasn't paying for it. Why would my insurance have to pay for a leisurely rental?? I walked out and booked next door to budget instead and it was the best decision ever.

Cons: i though that i had made the reservation for the columbus airport and it was off airport. the people at the hertz counter at the airport did nothing to try to accommodate my needs with the mix up and would not even cancel the reservation at the other location so i booked at AVIS another reason that i dont like Hertz... no customer service

Cons: There were a LOT of fees added on after the fact. I was quoted $173 on Kayak but the rental ended up being over $270.

Got me to a place but with hidden fees
Pros: The car I received was very well maintained. It was cleaned well and a good quality car.
Cons: I was given an estimated price and hidden taxes and fees were added on that bright me well above that estimated price. It was double what the stomached price was.

Pros: I prefer to use Hertz. Yet everyplace that I've searched before searching on kayak the rates were really high .
Cons: When I chose the Hertz car rental from the kayak site I thought I was going to be transferred onto hertz actual website instead the booking was made on the kayak website which was OK I just wasn't familiar with that procedure.

lack of information online and overselling at the
Pros: The car that I actually got was fine. I reserved a car, but they were out and upgraded me to an suv instead, which still worked out.
Cons: It was the rental location, person who helped me at the desk, and the agreement itself. I reserved online, but was not able to get the insurance and was given a message on the website checkout that I could pay for it at the counter. It should be that simple. Except when I got to the pickup they said something about difference in price because they are a franchise and not a corporate location, then said no one is able to purchase the insurance online, and then he has overcharged me for the insurance, selling me two different coverages than the one that requested. And was not forthcoming nor did I see anything on the initial receipt for charges for two different covereages

Not a good service
Pros: I booked the car at Columbus airport on Labor Day weekend. I was informed that the pick up location was about 30 minutes away. Hertz service representative refused to match the reservation price. I ended up paying almost $50 more. The car was drivable but made noises. I had to check a couple of times. I asked my friends about this incident. It seemed that they also experienced similar issues with Herz. In addition, the waiting line was long. I saw another customer returned the car because one of the seat was not adjustable. I won't recommend it and won't use them again.

Great staff, great car...location dicey
Pros: Brand-new car in excellent condition; friendly, helpful staff.
Cons: The location is dicey. My cab driver who dropped me off asked me twice if I was sure I had the right location and didn't want to let me out of the car! There is no sign and it looked like I was being dropped off at an abandoned garage.

Fast service but mistakes
Pros: In and out
Cons: The original invoice the customer service woman gave me was over twice my quote from Kayak. Then her boss came out to fix it and said "This happens when you book through third party sites" and acted like it was a big hassle to fix my issue. They did not provide clear instructions about the rental return process.

Pros: Rental price was very low for a one-way reservation.
Cons: Pickup took over 30 minutes. Car wasn't ready / available, even though I came at the time stated in reservation.

Pros: The service was good. The pick-up and drop-off were easy.
Cons: It was a bit higher than what I had quoted and booked. I booked for 106 but ended up paying 137.

Pros: The staff at pickup was amazing. My luggage was lost so I was crying, but they were still super nice and helpful and got me on the road quickly.

Bait and Switch
Pros: The car was comfortable. The agent at the Airport Hertz was fine.
Cons: The windshield wipers were old and did not work well. We paid an additional $100 over the contract since we picked the car up at the airport.
