How much is a Jeep car rental in Lubbock?

I was told that I was going to get a certain type of car. When I showed up they offered me a smaller car. I needed a car with a trunk that’s why I picked the size car than I needed. She said that there was nothing that she could do but if I want to pay $20 extra a day I could upgrade to a Tahoe. I had something for a free upgrade and she refused to do it because she said that there was no stock but yet she was offering me an upgrade. I had to upgrade because the car they gave me could not fit anything since it was not the correct size and turns out the moment I got it, there was a death bottle under the seat and all kinds of other trash in the car. Even though the car was dirty which should be clean especially with Covid they couldn’t give me a different car so I had to deal with a nasty car that smelled like smoke. Overall I don’t think I would ever want to use Avis again. The lady was so rude from the moment I walked in. It definitely made you feel like they did not care for you as a consumer. This is the worst rental place ever, don’t waste your time in try another company that actually cares about your business.

Cons:

There were no cars available even though I was able to book one online. There is a big disparity between booking and actual available inventory at times via Kayak that needs attention. Please fix this. I had a similar issue last summer in Missoula, MT.

No one was there when our flight landed. Someone from Enterprise actually got us a car from the National stock. It would be helpful if someone were actually on the lot to assist customers with pick up and return.

There were no clear instructions as to where or how to drop off the vehicle. There was signage directing all car rentals to a lot with spaces numbered and organized by company. No other instructions or personnel were available to indicate where to go or what to do next. A simple sign saying to walk back up the hill to the airport terminal would have sufficed. There were five other people wandering around asking each other if anyone knew where to go. I had to call the Alamo phone line three times before someone could help me with instructions. Overall, the Lubbock location needs vast improvements to customer care.

Pros:

The return location is a little confusing - you have to drop the car at the rental return lot then go up to the airport to turn in the keys - but I figured it out easily. A man met me in the lot to drive me up to the airport, which was very nice. & When I got inside I just dropped the keys to the employee at the counter & went on my way. Super easy, & they were very friendly! Would definitely recommend & use again!!!

Pros:

I placed my reservation online to pick it up at a specific location in Lubbock. I called ahead to verify that my reservation was made and was told that the facility closed at 2pm. I made sure to be on site by 12:30pm only to find out that this address was closed down. I saw a note to visit another facility within the same city. I drove to that site and was there just after 1pm. They didn't have any trucks on hand like I had reserved. They did find one at a 3rd location. They did offer to get the vehicle for me but the 3rd address was only 2 miles from my home. By the time I got to the 3rd site, they already rented 1 of the 3 trucks remaining. I was able to obtain a truck and drive to my destination but I feel there was much confusion and all of the employees were aware of the incorrect address.

Cons:

The site needs to be updated so that your potential renters won't waste their time going to wrong address. And if I place a reservation for a specific type of vehicle, then there should be one available when I get there and not just by chance.

Got to the airport in Lubbock Tx and Hertz did not have a car for my Reservation, so luckily Enterprise at the airport had a rental and I rented one from them at the cost was about $20.00 more at Enterprise. I was just I was able to get a car at a very short notice from Enterprise. Will I every rent a car from Hertz again? At this time and in my mind NO. Hertz really put me in a bind not only that but late for a meeting 16 miles from the airport.

There is NO HERTZ RENTAL AT THE LUBBOCK AIRPORT! Please do not list Hertz as an option. I had to cancel my Hertz reservation and rent from National. There are several other car rentals at the Lubbock Airport, but NOT HERTZ.

When I came to dropoff the car, the lights were on, the door said "OPEN, PLEASE COME IN". Yet the door was locked. I waited for 30 minutes for someone to come by, and nothing. I tried calling a phone number, but just got the robot voice menu. I eventually gave up and used the dropbox, but I had no idea if that was allowed (because I was after hours). Very unprofessional.

When I arrived at the rental agency I was told my reservation was a computer glitch. They said my reservation was real, but it was created in error. So, needless to say, I was without any transportation for my trip. I will not be making any reservations of this style in the future.

Pros:

I was worried about having to stand in a line to get the car which would make my 'day trip' impossible. The car was waiting for me and the girl at the counter couldn't have been nicer. Will definitely use Budget again!

Cons:

The plastic headlight lenses had numerous cracks and were cloudy/glazed over so as to affect the brightness of the headlights. They were old and needed to be replaced.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
