Didn’t let us know there no morning shuttle to the airport.. nor let us know where to put the key or park the vehicle. There wasn’t even a conversation about drop off. Last minute had to find us a cab that could fit all six of us plus 5 luggage’s to get us to the airport so we wouldn’t miss our flights, If I had known I could have pre set this up. 4 am with a family of six trying to get a cab to the airport. Couldn’t tell you the full experience because we left the lot without the car. In addition to what was paid ahead of the scheduled pick-up time, we were asked for an additional deposit which wouldn’t be a problem if they had a tap feature on their card reader. The antiquated POS system left us with no choice but to go to a competitor to get a rental car. The blame doesn’t land entirely on NU Car, as I should’ve kept at least one credit card, not debit card, with me, on vacation.Reviewed May 12 2026

In the fine print it says it only rents to tourists for local travel. It has unlimited miles but I couldn’t leave the state. I rented for a vacation to leave the state. If I left I would be fined. Didn’t take the rental. They need to put that in bold letters!Reviewed Jun 17 2025

They made it seem like they were based at the airport and they were not. Shuttle took an hour to come pick up to get the car. Car smelled like smoke. In drop off I needed to call uber in order to get to my flight on time.Reviewed Apr 30 2025

Kept getting overcharged, was not allowed to switch the driver to my partner. Due to me being under 25, I was charged extra every day. I was charged extra for insurance and more. Very frustrating. Thought it would be a one time payment but no.Reviewed Apr 18 2025

The whole experience was a disaster. The shuttle driver drove 80 mph on a 35 road, fell asleep at the wheel. The rental facility was in disrepair with wasp swarming around. They didn't provide a contract or terms until after booking the rental and arriving at the counter. The story goes on longer than I have time to explain. Avoid them at all costsReviewed Aug 27 2024

We came 2 hours early to get our car and had to book an additional day (to have a minivan instead of the car we had chosen) because we were told they had no cars available (even though the lot was full). The main reason we chose this rental agency was to save money, so this defeated the purpose. Also, although there were 3 people there not busy, no one offered us help. More importantly though, the check engine light came on multiple times during the trip, and the car smelled kinda bad (like it hadn't been cleaned in a while). The reservation company took my money and made the reservation with NU Car. When I went to pick up the car they refused to give me the car stating that I was a Florida state resident and they did not rent to Fl state residents. Says it is in their contract and it absolutely was not!!!! The reservation company could not find it either. I did get my money back but was without a car again. Will never use NU Car again. We originally booked our pick up time for 8:00 pm, but circumstances changed so I phoned to see if the pick up time could be changed to 3:00 pm. The person I spoke to said she would have to see if there would be a mini van available at 3:00 pm and put me on hold for a short time. When she returned to the phone she said, yes , we could change the time as a mini van would be available at 3:00 pm. Nothing in the original booking prepared us for the fact that the rental office was 15 minutes from the airport and when we got there at 3:00 pm, we were informed that there was no change to our rental time and that we would have to wait until 8:00 pm to pick up our minivan. The only option we were given was an upgrade which doubled the rental amount. Since we were sitting in the middle of nowhere and had five hours to wait, we felt we had no choice and paid for the upgrade. This extra charge put the rental amount on par with firms who actually have their pick up stations at the airport. The employees that I spoke to were pleasant, but overall this was not a pleasant experience as we ended up paying double what we had budgeted for. I will not use NU Car again.Reviewed Feb 23 2024
