rented a car for 12 got a car for 7..kids without
Cons: rented a 12 passenger van through kayak and thrifty gave me a 7 passenger suv....not solution at the airport or later at the phone...had to travel 4 hour on the florida turnpike with 6 kids piled up without seatbelts. Wrote to Kayak and the said it not their policy problem. Wrote to thrifty and they did not acnowledge problem

Decent Job in Orlando
Pros: Friendly quick service. Easy to get to in and out of the airport. Offered the Florida Sun Pass/EZ Pass so paying the tolls could be avoided. Got a 'mystery' sized car through the third party internet price which guaranteed to fit 5 adults comfortably which ended up being a compact sized car. Had to pay an additional fee for an upgrade to a 'Standard' sized car, but I kinda expected that. The upgrade fee wasn't that big of a difference, and the price was still worth it.
Cons: Did not like the policy of having to have the gas tank completely refilled when the car is returned. If renting the car and driving anywhere (we went about 1 and a half hours away from the pickup point); it's extremely inconvenient to have to get off the highway (especially a toll road) right near the airport to fill up to avoid the $9.99 per gallon surcharge that is assessed if you bring the car back with less than a full tank. It would have added an additional $60.00 to the price of the rental.

BUYING INSURANCE FROM KAYAK MEANS NOTHING
Cons: I told the staff that I had insurance cover and show her the letter of confirmation. She said that is nothing to do with them. So why should we pay double when other insurance is not accepted by the car rental compay

Cons: They forgot that this was an AAA approved rental and over charged for second drive ($491)...still waiting on the refund. Our AAA agent is the real hero...she has gon.e to bat for us.

Great 1st time experience
Pros: This was my first time using Thrify, and my experience was great! It was really easy to reserve, retrieve, and return my rental. I will definitely be using them again. They are quick, friends, and really cost effective.

Pros: Overall rental experience was excellent, but when picking up car at airport, the sales person's pressure to have me pay for several added items was overly aggressive. I was able to deal with aggressive tactics and did not pay more, but it was a bit too much and a waste of my vacation time.

Damage Waiver Costs
Pros: The car was nice and I like that you can pick your own.
Cons: The damage waive rate per day was more than the cost of the car rental per day. Ridiculous.

Very easy car return
Pros: The desk attendant was very nice and helpful. You choose your car from the lot which was nice. We allotted extra time for car return and didn't need it at all. I pulled in to the garage, parked, a gentleman was waiting that checked the car and said we were all set. No extra time was needed!! Great price through kayak, I saved a lot from my original booking at another site.
Cons: We got a compact car, it was tiny. The trunk was smaller than expected but we fit four with carryons.

Pros: Car was clean
Cons: Waited over half an hour to exit the garage after picking up the car in a line 20 cars long!! Tampa Airport. Not acceptable. Probably won't use Thrifty again. Hitch in the transmission.

Pros: I liked the vehicle.
Cons: I was charged about $100 over the agreed upon price after the vehicle was returned. No explanation and I feel I am given the runaround while attempting to call. My wife was the one to drop it off. When she turned back to take pictures of the condition of the vehicle and to double check that nothing was left in it, the assistant car rental representative immediately drove away. When we paid at the teller in the airport, they said that the 'EZ Pass" to bypass the tolls was inc$10.50 a day to include it. Since the vehicle was going to be parked for half of the days of our stay, we opted out of the pass and paid for all the tolls.

Sister stuck in airport without credit card
Pros: My sister flew to Orlando to have a father put a nursing home. And her distraught state she forgot to take her credit card with her. I spoke to three different managers local and at the reservation center and could not give them my credit card information so that she could rent a car and drive out to where my father is in the hospital. Extremely poor customer service in a ton of duress

Roomy Dodge Minivan
Pros: -The Dodge minivan we reserved was available when we arrived. It was clean and roomy enough for 4 adults and 2 kids on booster seats with all our luggage including a 4 wheeled walker. -The agent provided excellent directions to my destinations. I followed his suggestion to write them down on the back of the Thrifty rental paper packet. -The toll charge option saved us grief working our way to our destinations thru bumper to bumper rush hour traffic.
Cons: -No decent map was provided or even available for purchase that showed our Davenport destination on the same page as the Orlando International airport. Instead we were provided a brochure showing the locations of local hotels, attractions and restaurants. -Minivan model lacked compass and outdoor/indoor temperature gauge. -Somehow the final Thrifty car rental return sign was missing from Orlando International Terminal B. We had to loop around and return the car in Terminal A.

Get what you pay for
Pros: The check in process was quick and I was able to get to my car fairly quickly. The staff was friendly and helpful. The vehicle type was exactly as what was described and I was able to choose my own off the lot which is similar to other car rental companies.
Cons: The vehicle had a lot of damage and no one walked with me to review the current state of the vehicle. It wasn't until I reached my destination that I saw any of it. Thankfully there were no issues at the return kiosk. Also, the car smelled funny. We couldn't identify the smell, but it stayed with us the whole trip.

Kiosk is located within the airport!
Pros: The agent was very efficient and friendly. He offered the toll-pass and fuel-coverage options, which I needed because I was driving between Orlando and Fort Myers. The vehicle was clean, with plenty of trunk space for my luggage. It was also a newer model so I was able to use handsfree with my iPhone. Picking up and dropping off were fast and easy and I was able to catch my flight within the hour!

Began great, ended horribly
Pros: I was able to get a rental.
Cons: Stated it was going to be a Ford transit cargo or similar, which meant room to put luggage in. I instead was given a passenger van with no way of cramming 9 people's large suitcases. After 45 minutes of loading, getting everyone on board and driving off (it was now 2:30AM) the person at the booth told me that they can't rent me the vehicle, to back up and choose another. Asking why, they just stated it can't leave the lot. So I asked which other vans can, they couldn't say. Told them I wasn't moving the van back until I got one that could leave the lot. Another few minutes later, they chose one. Another 30 minutes to unload and reload (all with a sleeping 8 month old) and they didn't even offer to help. Got in the van, it was run down, vents were broken and laying on the floor, seat belt cover broken, didn't have GPS like the other 2 vans, the AC controls for the back was hanging from the ceiling. We drove off the lot, almost 3:30AM to our destination.

Pros: The Tahoe was a nice vehicle for 7 people.
Cons: They didn't have my car. They didn't offer the pre-paid gas option. If wasn't very clean. When I checked the car back in, the guy was rude and mean. Saying things to me in Spanish. I'll never rent from them in the future. Saving a few bucks, isn't worth it.

Pros: Car was clean.
Cons: Was given HUGE hard time and lost two hours of my time. The car I rented was determined to be "mechanically bad" by a security guard when exiting the lot. Why was this car in the available to rent pool? why did it take two hours to get a different one? Why did I find out only after waiting in line to exit and then caused many others to wait while this was being "resolved"?? Boo.

Pros: Got our choice of the car which was clean and performed well. The toll coverage was worth it. Ease of picking up and dropping off.
Cons: Steep charge for an additional driver. Prolonged sales pitch for LDW.

Pros: Easy drop off.
Cons: I did not like how they did not walk around the car with me when I first received the vehicle. That should be standard. So I ended up taking pictures of the scratches that were on the car just in case they were to come back at me. Also, the gentleman that was helping me with my paperwork I felt was seriously pressuring me to buy insurance (which I already had and it's very good) and pressured me to buy the Sunpass. I refused both and I'm very glad I did. Your employee said not all sunpasses take money so I would be stuck with fees etc. well, every sunpass I went through sure did take money and guess what? I only paid $5 in tolls verses your $52.95 sunpass you offer! What a crock....glad I went with my gut.

High administrative fee of toll violation
Cons: They charged 15 $ per toll violation event and refused to add E-Pass service (10 $/d) after you return the car. When i found the service was not included in my invoice, it only passed 12 hours after returning the car. I have nothing to do but pay 100$ for the administrative fee for 7 toll violation event in 1 day. This is ridiculous, other rental firms will automatic charge about 4 $ /d if there are toll violation.

Rude return attending
Pros: The car was clean, the lady that helped me was good.
Cons: Had trouble finding where to go to pick up because I was coming from the orlando area and not a flight that had just arrived.

Why do we have to wait in line so long?
Pros: Service agent was fantastic! He moved through the process quickly and was friendly and engaging.
Cons: Why do we have to wait so long to get contracts? Can't we do what the airlines do? Yes we have an agreement. You already know my name and credit card number. You're just going to tell me to walk out and pick my car. Why can't I just go straight there? Are you just trying to prepare visitors for the MK? Return process is the easiest part of the deal! Don't change a thing. :-)

Original rental rate doubled
Pros: Partially our fault, since my partner signed up for insurance on the car when I went to the restroom. I saw the new rate and thought it very high. Extra charges were not explained to me--and when I had a chance to look at the original reservation and saw the cost had doubled, I called and tried to get the insurance removed. The insurance cost was about $30 a day, extra driver charge $75, and the original rate about $230 for a total charge of over $500 for 6 days. I know better than to sign up for the insurance--but my partner did not. Also, I did not realize the extra driver charge would be so high. Unfortunately, it's not convenient to take things off once they are on the contract. I don't like it when rental agencies find ways to jack up your rate--with things you don't need. Is there an honest rental car agency out there?

My new number 1 car rental agency
Pros: Choice of vehicles, they let me pick the vehicle I wanted, they said pick any one with the trunk open, awesome! There was no upselling or trickery which I have experienced in the past with competitors, helpful customer service when extending my rental.
Cons: Offering of a map to get out of the airport might have been helpful.

Make sure it's a Thrifty car
Pros: Drop off would've been quick if we'd had the right car
Cons: Pick up was confusing, long line, garage attendant gave us keys to a car then waited in another long line to exit the garage. The next garage attendant was on the phone the entire time he was confirming the car couldn't find the vehicle number but let us leave anyway. When we returned the car we realized we'd been driving a Hertz rental car all week

Price is much higher than advertised
Pros: I will take some of the responsibility for this because it has been a while since I rented a car. But my total bill was more than double, almost triple what I was originally quoted. There are so many additional fees that the receipt is several pages long. The staff was perfectly fine to deal with and drop off was very simple. One other issue. Because of my line of work it is important for me to drive an American car. There were no American cars available.
Cons: All the additional fees are ridiculous. The fact that there was nothing but Nissan's available is also aggravating

Pros: Ease at pick up and drop off.
Cons: There was only one compact car left when we arrived, It was a Ford Focus and seemed more cramped than other compact cars we have rented.

Pros: The car was clean, drop off was really quick and the guy was very nice to us.
Cons: Lady at the pick-up was rude, it took a lot of time to deal with her. It was not until the end that she took a helping attitude. The remainig time she was like in a deffensive attitude. The car was shaking whenever we pushed the accelerator (my boyfriend thinks thT was the transmission) but anyways, it worked the whole time.

You get what you pay for....
Pros: The pick up was great. No lines and service lady was nice... Overall th car was pretty cheap- but you get what you pay for...
Cons: I filled up the tank before returning (since that is what I agreed to do). There are NO gas stations near the airport- and I had to drive maybe 10 miles? before returning it in the airport drop off. I got charged an extra $25 because the tank "wasn't full." Absolutely ridiculous.... I also got charged $10 because there was literally two water bottles in the car they had to throw out...

Pros: Price found online was exceptional for an onsite rental option. Video check in was somewhat efficient but because they didn't service that site only, they couldn't help with specific questions for that location.
Cons: No cars like what I rented. The SUV upgrade were stripped down versions that used more gas than the sedan option. Cars were kinda clean. Ran fine. Check out/in was fine. Video check in was OK to save some time in line but not seamless.

I ended up renting from another company in Orlando
Pros: Nothing was good about this rental. Nothing at all except the counter person.
Cons: Thrifty wanted to charge me significantly more than what I was quoted in the Kayak app. The compact car they showed me that I would've rented, was not anything like the "Ford Focus or similar" that was quoted on Kayak. It looked more like a super-sized Smart Car. I ended up going to EZ Car Rental and got a 2015 Toyota Corolla for less money than Thrifty. Thrifty lost a customer for good, and EZ gained a loyal customer.
