Cons: Bait and switch. My car was no longer available when I arrived at the empty counter. I was told they hold cars for 30 min only past your estimated arrival time - my plane and I were 1-1/2 hours late. They'd "given my car away". They had other cars - but they were all more expensive.

It was budget rental
Pros: Nothing. Crowded and disorganized
Cons: They are not set up to get you out quickly. It is a joke.

Pros: We were not told until we returned the car that we needed to give them a receipt for filling the gas tank.

Camry is a great rental vehicle
Pros: Key for this rental was the value. Great price, very good car. Payless very easy to rent from at PBI, shuttles are frequent, car return easy, car return attendant very nice etc...

Cons: Car was filthy; terrible odor of cigar smoke(?) & deodorizer, smelled like a burnt bordello; they would not deliver me a replacement & I could not return to airport to replace due to a tight schedule.

Pros: The car that they assigned was not in the spot so i wound up with a better and bigger car.
Cons: Some little hidden fee i did not care for.

Pros: Pick up and drop off was simple and convenient. The shuttle driver was very helpful in showing us where to return the car, also including a map of the area for us. Price was well below the competition.
Cons: Getting a phone call during our trip about a recall on the vehicle we were driving. Not convenient to return the car before the end of our trip. I know this isn't the fault of the rental company. Lots of road wear on the exterior of the vehicle and didn't want to be charged for it when returning the car.

Cons: Upon checking in I was told they did not have the size car that I reserved. When I asked what was the reason for reserving a car if your not going to get it. I was told that KAYAK overbooks cars all of the time. I was then placed in larger vehicle, making it more than what I wanted to spend. It sucks having to pay for double than what you budget for.

Pros: Man who checked me out w2hen I returned the car both times (same guy) was friendly and professional
Cons: Issues with the car I picked up in West Palm too. The guy I returned to car to was great. Friendly, efficient, even helped with my luggage. The smell of cigarettes however was a big turn off. I even bought an air freshener to leave in the car. It didn't help. I can't believe the guys cleaning the car didn't notice the smell???

Costs were not accurately represented
Pros: The car was fine - what you'd expect.
Cons: Quoted amount was much less than actual charges. Probably mostly due to the automatic fuel that was added (not requested). Should be refunded automatically if returned full, but thus far, no refund. So I have to get on the phone and ask for it, which is really annoying.

front desk person needs a lot more training
Pros: no counter inside airport so walked out to shuttle bus area after about 7 minutes called local Payless telephone number and they only had 1 agent working and 1 driver. He said the Payless bus would be by in less than 13 minutes. Then i noticed the word Payless on a Budget Bus which they co-share with Payless. The BudgetBus goes by about ever 1 or 2 minutes. Agent printed out contract for the $35 more than e-mailed quote. I had to sign contract taking gas option. But he said if i filed the car with gas before returnig the computer would take the $35 off. Returned it full but was charged anyway. Budget takes the return and give you the receipt for Payless before 7AM. When at airport filed a claim with Payless 800 number after getting ring and ringing of the local #. After reaching local they blamed computer glitch and corrected the bill. do it wright the first avoid Payless it not worth a few dollars.

Unfriendly staff, would NOT rent here again.
Pros: Friendly shuttle driver to Payless.
Cons: Front desk staff VERY rude and not friendly. Price was much higher than anticipated and she was not very willing to discuss why this happened. She did also not give any direction to help me find my car. Also, when picking up my car there were several extra charges that were NOT shown on my original booking. Car ended up costing 130$ more than anticipated. I would not use this company again.

Very bad experience
Cons: Waited over an hour to pick up the car at PBI. There were only 3 people ahead of us in line, but only one employee at the counter who was very slow. When I got to the counter and made a comment about how slow the service was, the employee said "it's Payless, you gotta wait." Car had numerous dings and broken center console.

Online rate expires of you don't pick up on time.
Pros: The car was clean and in good order.
Cons: This is the first time I ran into a situation like this with a car rental company. I booked this rental online. Chose the pickup time at 3:00 pm. Came at 4:00 pm to pick up the car, and I was told that the rate I got online no longer applied because I was late. The "system" would automatically upsell to the next car size up, and I had to pay more for it. Nothing close to the rate that was advertised online.

The Worst Car Rental Company!
Cons: They had hidden fees, terrible service, and required extra paperw or at pickup that was never mentioned when reserving the car.

Price that was quoted was inaccurate. Was 50% mor
Cons: See above. They said that Kayak is only a vendor and that their prices and quotes cannot be relied upon. I am upset with Kayak as well. I cannot be the first person this happened to

Dishonest at west palm beach
Pros: The car was fine, no issues.
Cons: Staff at west palm beach claimed the prepay fuel option was not optional, that "all their contracts have this" and only if you return the car with a gas receipt can you get this charge taken off. I heard the same story told to other customers. This was obviously a scam. When I returned the car to Fort Lauderdale as planned, they confirmed this was not proper policy and they had seen this before from west palm beach. The staff at Fort Lauderdale were very helpful and friendly, thankfully, but does not make up for the dishonesty.

Pros: Plane canceled - at hospice w dying aunt - had to change to early morning flight but no ine answered Bellvadere office ohine at 7:39, 8pm, and called 899 number that said I was lying, of course they answer the ohone. Left my name and number at Bellvadere office - no call back - just to see if I could return early morn instead of late night. Under 48 hr period but they said when I spoke to 809 #, they charge by day, not 24 hr period. Aunt died, thank God for her - had late charge....will never rent frim payless again
