Then the pilot said that our bags are usually weighed and computerized for even distribution on the plane. That system was also down, so we sat on the runway waiting for that problem to be fixed. When we arrived at Barcelona, I unpacked and discovered a jacket and pants in my luggage were wet. The only place that could have happened was at JfK during their rain storm and the luggage weight issue."

Pros: "I paid 60 bucks for an emergency row exit, take get some extra leg room and space so that I would be fresh when I arrived in Munich. However KLM allowed a passenger — who did not pay for the emergency row to sit next to me because he needed the extra space because he was a liarge man, and clearly didn’t fit very well in the economy seats. Thus I I lost all the extra space and actually would of preferred a regular economy seat. that would’ve been more preferential then paying $60 and getting less space than I would’ve had it in a regular economy. I understand the other passengers comfort was important and if that was the case he should’ve paid $60 as well."

The flight arrived on time, and the luggage was delivered a few minutes after I arrived at the baggage area."

Cons: "they charge 300$ extra for a 14 year old child and dont give any service for the payment, they say it is to bring the child on and off the plane even though he can travel alone and has done it many times with other air lines. drive the parents uo the wall, make them wait endless time, and then they comlaine that thay have no time tofor the child and leave him standing with out even letting him to seat with the other air lines a child of 12 can travel alone."

Cons: "The gate for the connecting flight from NY to Rome wasn't posted at the terminal or available via the Delta aps. The Kayak AP didn't have it either. I found out late that it was practially at a different airport. With less than an hour I had to take a bus to a different terminal, walk through, exit onto the street, cross the street and walk down the block to a different terminal. Then I had to re-enter through security (where the line was wrapped back to the front doors). Had the flight not been delayed for mechanical issues I would have missed it. My flights were purchased through Delta. If Delta uses different airlines they should post gate information on their web sites."

Surprised by this, I thought Delta was a better airline. Staff on plane was courteous and worked hard for entire trip."

This was a customer service fail. American is no better. They rescheduled the flight at no cost, but then sent you back to LATAM for help with the overnight. If we buy tickets from your website and you own the process, you should be more helpful when there are problems. The back-and-forth was frustrating. Lima airport takes a long time to go through all the checkpoints. Two hours does not give enough time. There are at least four long lines that have to be endured. This process could use some streamlining."

Pros: "I had to buy new clothes after lost bag and since bag had been lost twice during my trip, I was reluctant to check the bag. It was of size to cram into my carry on so I did that, but American staff demonstrated concern, had a sense of humor and helped me get a comfortable seat to sort of take some of the sting away. All that was great of them I was aware of being in an upgraded seat. No complaints, but it stung a little because I was deeply aware of the reinforcement of class. The small, extra comforts were wonderful and I wish everyone had them while risking their lives together over the ocean - especially the extra room At times, on the way over I felt a claustrophobic panic. But to stay positive, they were kiind, sympathetic, funny, sweet. I appreciate them."

Pros: "On time. Was able to sleep through much of what was likely an annoying flight because there was no personal entertainment--the tiny screens overhead would have been impossible to see and they were showing a movie that was lame. It seemed anachronistic."
Cons: "At the Lima gate they made each passenger open their carryon and submit to a secondary inspection to confiscate all water we bought past security. No warning was given about this. I had paid airport prices for water to bring onto the plane and then had to surrender it at the gate. Of course in economy class they will not give you water or attention until you are at cruising altitude. More than one flight attendant did not smile and one was actually rude in spite of my attempts to be kind and smile. Except for one friendly person at check-in kiosk, bad service overall. They do not have personal entertainment systems, and it was like going back in time with the tiny screens you cannot see, playing a movie you either watch it or not."
Cons: "My flight from SFO to Miami was delayed so I missed my connection to Rio and now I’m NYC on my birthday instead of my final destination. The flight status was changed 7 times. And AA said they would get my bag off but they did not and now I have to wait at JFK and hope it got rerouted here. And if it didn’t to hope it can on another flight before I hopefully actually get on a flight for Rio. Nobody has comped me for losing a day in Rio and for my hotel room. And this has been the worst flight exeperience or my life which unfortunately landed on my birthday. One I’ll remember in a sad and bad way. American Airlines refused to compensate me because I got my tickets via Kayak and I haven’t been able to find a number to complain to a Kayak agent whom I sure would say I had to contact American Airlines and nobody would help or take responsilvitu for this disaster."

It was almost as if the flight attendants were traveling to Dallas and they happened to have to take care of passengers along the way. There were very few smiles, hellos, or how can I help you. It was almost always and grunt and what do you want? The personal device entertainment was very buggy. the movie I tried to watch kept skipping, like on old scratched CD."
Cons: "I booked the flight with Kayak and it showed the airline as Finnair, the flight was actually with American, no complains about it. The issue was that Kayak did not update me with the Flight number for American Airlines and kept sending me information about the flight with Finnair which was not going to actually take place. I had to actually call American and spend time with a Representative providing all the data to be able to get my American Airlines flight booking code so I could check in online. American as always was great! Shame on Kayak!"

Cons: "I was made to check my carry on in a rush because there wasn't enough space supposedly. I was told my bag would be transferred all the way to bogota. When I got on the plane I saw plenty of space AND when I got to Bogota my bag wasn't there. My carry on had my most important belongings for in case other luggage was lost. It's not faire that other passengers get to carry on suitcases and a personal item and I can not being my small backpack. It's very inconvenient since my rain gear, my shoes and my Phone chargers are in that bag."

I sat back and watched as the mob tried to board asking each other which group was boarding which no one knew. When I got up to board I asked and was told, "I held up two fingers". Personally I think using the intercom would work much better. I was thinking this was just a one time deal, however they handled it the same way on the return flight. This was the first time I used American, so I do not know if this is their standard policy, but this issue and a long list of others will make me think twice before I use them again."

I flew from Miami to Vegas (5 hours) The plane flew at low altitude the entire way and went right through all storms just to save fuel/money. People were afraid for their lives because the plane was shaking so bad. I travel 1-2 weeks out of each month by plane for work and I am not afraid, I knew it was fine, but others had no idea and were very afraid. I know it is a cheap airline, but the real problem I had with them was they are not honest. Their website says that if you chose your seat online you have to pay, but if you do at check in it is free and they will try to keep your party together as long as there's seats available. Upon arriving at the counter they wanted to charge me to keep me and my fiancée together, otherwise she was at the front of the plane and I was all the way at the back. The plane had extra seats and we got there early to get assigned seats together but even the manager would not help me even after showing their website. He said the computer will make them charge me and there was no way around it. There's always a way around it. At the end of the day, paying for seats, all bags you check in or carry on, foods/drinks in the plane, I paid just as much as flying with a good airline such as Delta. I will never fly with them again, that is for sure."

Was directed to the ticket agent who stated I was too late to get a boarding pas. I asked if there was room on the flight and was told there was a lot of room. This was 1/2 hour before the doors closed for this flight. The agent told be to go elsewhere and that if I were to get to Miami I needed to book through another airline. I found American had a flight that left half an hour later and booked it at an additional expense of $493.10 FYI: I did have flight insurance and was told it is no good and that basically I'm screwed. I hope someone reads this and compensates me for my added expense."

I happened to miss the flight. At the checkin, instead of putting me on another flight, they told me that it was over that I had to rebook a new tickets to my own expense. Their instructions on rebooking the flight were severely insufficient and led to much frustration. My 9 am flight had to rebooked to 5:20 pm. I spent all day at the airport and no reason whatsoever was provided. No meal vouchers were provided either. That was a terrible experience."
