I was not not advised at time of booking that 3rd party liability insurance would not be acceptable and purchasing their coverage would be required. To me that is clearly a tactic to advertise a low price to rope a customer in, only to surprise them at pick up time with an additional charge when it’s too late to choose another company. When I asked the desk agent how I would have known this charge would be required I was told “it’s in the fine print”. Not a great response. I kept the booking because I needed the car and didn’t have time to go look for another option. And to be fair, even with the bump in cost it was still a competitive price compared to other agencies. The car was older and dirty. The interior was reasonably clean but the exterior was covered in dirt and dust. But it drove ok so it fulfilled the most basic of reasons I got the car, but it was the bare minimum so I got what I paid for, I suppose. Advantage rental need to clean and maintain their vehicles. The car I rented had bald tires at the wear mark. I had to get a different vehicle and made the change before I left a lot. They try to upsell you on insurance, tire insurance, and windshield insurance no good. Other than that I got a great deal for a rental vehicle. Thank youReviewed Jan 26 2025

The whole shuttle situation is crazy. We had no idea that the rental office was right across the street. Had we known, we wouldn't have had to wait around for a shuttle that never picked up. We wouldn't have had to blow $50+ on rideshares to get to the rental office the next morning. We also wouldn't have had to waste 3 hours or more on back and forth phone conversations to fix our issues with miscommunication. The employees were amazing though.Reviewed Jan 24 2025

Subject: Misleading Charges from Advantage Car Rental I booked an Advantage rental through KAYAK at $18/day, but at pick-up, Advantage coerced me into paying for unnecessary insurance, falsely claiming it was mandatory. This significantly inflated the charges. Upon review, I found out the coverage was optional. Advantage has extremely low reviews on Yelp for similar deceptive practices, and I urge KAYAK to reconsider listing them to protect customers from scams.
