Arrive to Avis Liberia to a lot full of Nissan Kicks. Not the car ANYONE in the lobby had reserved. They claimed they were in the midst of a fleet upgrade but when I drive past over 10 days, the same lot full of Kicks were there. My agent was a very nice lady and the whole process was easy but don’t count on getting the car you asked for.Reviewed Jun 13 2026

Unacceptable wait time for checking out the car. Horrible road side assistance in Costa Rica. NEVER AGAIN will I rent a car here. Police and 2 insurance adjusters had to come to scene of extremely minor accident. Waited 3 hours on side of road in a nasty dirty smelly area. This was after waiting one hour to get the car. The car from Avis was fantastic, no issues until we dropped it off. The person who checked us out was extremely rude and decided to charge us $250 for additional cleaning fees for a small amount of sand that got tracked in on the floor mats. This is ridiculous since they are vacuuming the car upon return anyway. I travel quite regularly and will NOT use AVIS again.Reviewed Feb 3 2026

No fault of the workers at the location, but there was mandatory insurance that was not included in the original price of the car. The insurance ended up costing more than the rental. This needs to be included in the price shown on Kayak. It feels predatory.Reviewed Mar 9 2025
