The price i got from the web page ended being over 50% more, it took about an hour to get the car and they assigned me a car tha was already assigned to another person, and they took like 20more minutes to finally assign me one. Car was fine. Rental process on Kayak was fine. Drop off was fine. At the pick-up, I declined - declined - declined and said yes to NO ADDED FEES and yet there was still over 50% added fees above my agreement from Kayak and Avis. Took almost half an hour to get the bill back to what it was supposed to be. Although the manager was very cordial, he still acted like it was some kind of one-time “favor” to charge me what I actually agreed to in the first place.Reviewed May 8 2023

The line at the pickup was excruciatingly long and the car we reserved was not available on our arrival. However, the staff was very nice, the actual process was swift and we were upgraded to a more luxurious vehicle at no extra cost.Reviewed Apr 22 2023

We had to wait 30 minutes for the shuttle. The rental counters were understaffed and we had to wait nearly 2 hours in line to get car keys. We picked Avis because we had to drive a long way and they advertised having hybrids and let us reserve one, but when we got to the counter they said they did not have any available so we had to get something with much worse fuel economy. The car was poorly washed on the outside, and had leftover trash from previous renters on the inside. When we went to return the car at our destination, we could not complete the return since the rental counter closed at 1pm and it was now 3:30pm. At no point were we given anything warning us that our destination Avis lot had limited operating hours. So we had to drive all the way out to the lot again the next day, which meant we had to pay that day's rental fees as well.Reviewed Apr 4 2023

The gas tank was half empty and someone else’s water bottle was in the car. The car was a Dodge Challenger, which was “all we have” and was awkward to drive. Hard to handle. Hard to access backseat. Probably something to sue with Hotwire. We thought we were renting from Avis but found out after reserving it was through Hotwire somehow.Reviewed Feb 26 2023

Arrived in Mexico City and they refused to honor the reservation because all I had was a debit card (same used to prepay the reservation). Now I asked for a refund, they deducted $40 as a cancelation fee. I'm going to have to dispute this.Reviewed Feb 13 2023

I like the service provided and the communication with the airport bus driver. She was wonderful and communicating well with the many customers. The process of getting the car is a bit slow and process of picking up car a bit cumbersome. Dropping off the guy didn't print or acknowledge the return and it took a while to even greet me as I stood in the lobby and tried to figure out how to return car. first car broke down twice, causing many hours delay in visiting theme parks. Very disappointing! Toll road option was not explained and later could not be utilized. Honestly, my last rental experiences with Avis at LAX has terrible. Although check-in timing was acceptable once my rental agreement was completed I had to wait over an hour to get my car. Yes, over an hour (67 minutes to be exact). Just as troubling the staff show no concern to the wait time. Although the guy working the front of the line was nice enough, nobody from management bothered to come out and apologize for the wait. I will look to rent elsewhere when in LA and advise all of my co-workers to avoid Avis.Reviewed Jan 27 2023
