Enough cars to go around
Pros: Plenty of options for a car and most likely won't run out.
Cons: Need more shuttles to and from airport

BO and return service was less than informative
Pros: Price and ease of getting the key was very quick. We did not have to wait but a few minutes before we were on our way. Probably the quickest I have ever rented a car. pick up was in Anaheim and drop off was LAX.
Cons: Car stunk like B.O. for 2 days. We had to have the windows down to air it out and prevent us from vomiting. The return service was less than informative. I was told to park in a walkway, then told by someone else that I should not have parked there. There was no formal communication that the return was checked in or if I was getting a receipt. It's not that the questions were not asked but it was either mentioned walking away from me or just plain belligerence.

Overall Good service
Pros: Overall service was good.
Cons: The inside of the windows were dirty, I was driving at night and the glare was annoying.

Pros: Competitive rates. Well-known company. Decent employees, some were friendlier than others. I didn't have any issues with the car. The car was clean except I did see a use oil wipe in the coin holder on the passenger seat side. Overall, I had a good experience, I would rent from them again if their rates were lower than other well-known rental companies in the area.

Go someplace else
Cons: I made a reservation for a convertible through Avis on line. It was very pricey but as this was a once in a lifetime vacation, we went for it. When we arrived at the Avis rental building, we waited for over an hour as there were only 4 people working. When we presented our reservation we were told there were no convertibles available, but that we could do an upgrade for another 150 a day!!! this was already costing $250 a day. We requested to speak with the manager but he refused to talk with us. After much haggling with the lady, who by the way, barely spoke English, my husband rented a Miata for another $50 a day. I feel we were given a carrot and stick routine.

Pros: Nice car, easy drop off location.
Cons: I was literally in line for 3 hours, followed by the attendant giving me and another customer the same car so I had to go back in again and then they had no more of that size for me. Hard to find the car in the parking lot and unclear, unhelpful attendants. I understand theres nothing they could do about the line but the attendants took forever with the customers and acted like they had all day and were uninterested in satisfying the customers. In the end I got charged more than my original receipt so I will be calling the company to follow up. I will not rent from Avis again.

Pickup and Dropoff are Subpar
Pros: The car didn't break down so that's good.
Cons: Incredibly long lines to pick up the car with not enough staff......45 minute wait in line simply to pick up the car, not good. Then.....at Drop-off, no agents in sight to check-in the car. Lots of folks standing around looking clueless because we didn't k ow what to do. I had to walk to the building and find some reps chatting outside and point out that myself and several others were standing around waiting for someone to check their car in and issue a receipt. I told them that we were risking missing out flight. Eventually someone did come. Overall - not a good experience with either pick-up or drop-off.

The pick up in Los Angeles was horrible-long line
Pros: I liked the size of the car and it came with a GPS that was super helpful as we drove a lot. I liked the sunroof. The car had good exceleration. The Bluetooth was cool for music. It was a very dependable car.
Cons: Nothing. I would always like better gas mileage. The line at LAX was unacceptable.

Not a hatchback, but worked out fine
Pros: Car was efficient on gas, price was pretty reasonable, had no major issues whatsoever
Cons: I reserved a Yaris hatchback or something similar, and arrived to a Hyundai Elantra compact. Similar in mpg's, but I was under the impression it would be replaced with another hatchback, which would have made my trip much easier.

Wrong Location, Poor Customer Service
Pros: the car was new, clean and worked well for us. the rental agent allowed us to return the car to LAX without charge when I explained how we had thought this location was at LAX but had rented through Kayak. She said there had been several other customers who had a similar problem
Cons: When I finally arrived at this location, (I had thought my rental was at LAX, and had to take a cab to this location instead, at a cost of $60) there was no one there, and the doors were locked. The only information on the door indicated that they are open until 2pm. It was 12:30. I called Avis, and they were unable to tell me anything more. They offered to send me to yet another location instead, but when I called that location, they had no car rentals available. Finally an agent returned and unlocked the doors. She did not greet me and the two other customers who had arrived while we waited. When I got up to the counter I started explaining to her what had happened, and she just shrugged and told me she had been on her lunch break. Then she took a call and dealt with that instead of taking care of me. She finally got us taken care of and did give me a credit to return the car at LAX, but never apologized or indicated she was sorry for all I had gone through to get this rental car. How hard is it to hang a sign on the door to tell frustrated travelers that you will be back? A locked door just indicates that you are closed. Personally, I'll never use AVIS again.

Avis was Fine... Kayak FAIL
Pros: Car was fine.
Cons: Kayak sent my reservation for a car to an Avis that was nowhere near the airport. I searched for a car using airport code LAX and it sent my reservation to an Avis that was 15 miles away from the airport. Of course I didn't check the address of the reservation, because why would they send it to an Avis that was not at the airport? I ended up having to Uber a ride from the airport Avis to the Avis practically in downtown LA which cost me another $25. Of course, I needed to drop the car off at the airport location when I was done with it, and that cost me another $50 for a "transfer fee". So basically, my reservation was supposed to be a $75 2 day rental and it end up costing me double that in fee's and Uber rides. Kayak FAIL. I'll not be using it again for a car rental.

Cons: The lady who checked the car blindly charged me 14$ fuel charge without asking me if i had fuled. Only after i found out and i challenged her she asked for the gas receipt. She tried to avoid answering my question why she did that without any apology

Rip-off from Avis
Cons: I was late to the LAX to meet my flight, so when I returned the rental vehicle to Avis at LAX location, I did not pay attention to the receipt because I was in hurry. Later I find out that Avis charged me for gas about $25 or so. It was rip-off because I rented it at full-gas and returned it at full-gas

Poor service at counters
Cons: Took 40 min from drop off to get our car with only 3 people in front of us. 35 min avg turn around time per customer is unacceptable.

AVIS is a rip off
Pros: Car size nice.
Cons: Maintenance light was on. Also I was charged $110 instead of the $47.95 for one day because I picked the car up at the LAX airport instead of Ventura LA AVIS center. I was told this was due to Taxes. Regardless I picked my vehicle up at AVIS location. The representative lied and said I had no confirmation number when the confirmation was on the front of the paper I handed him.

Nice People + Attention to Detail Lacking
Pros: The people working at Avis were really nice and accomodating. I was upgraded to another vehicle for a minimal charge.
Cons: The side mirrors had heavy water stains making it very difficult to see, especially at night. I had to go into the office to speak with an agent when returning the vehicle, for some reason (which was never explained to me). This led to a delay in getting to the terminal.

Pros: Pick up and drop off was done in a timely manner.
Cons: There was a bag of trash under the driver seat and on the side of the armrest. The smell of the car was not pleasant due to previous driver that smoked.

Pros: Was very quick and simple. Customer service was pleasant enough. Shuttle driver (Mexican accent, gentleman) was friendly & communicated very well in regard to the drop off points, etc. & was very friendly.
Cons: Drop-off attendant could have been a bit more personable & we didn't appreciate the shuttle pulling away as we walked up to the bus. However, another shuttle arrived in a fairly timely manner.

Overbooked and LONG waits
Cons: A frustrating experience all around. To have to wait for 2h for a reservation and then to have to return because they still didn't have my car available is a little ridiculous. Felt like the whole operation was poorly run.

Great car + customer service!
Pros: The car was great, bigger than I needed, but a really nice ride. Customer service was also excellent.
Cons: Car was a bit bigger (and less fuel efficient) than I expected when booking.

Nice car, slow service in LA.
Pros: Nice car, friendly agent.
Cons: Very slow service. They gave us the wrong car that some other couple had already claimed. We had to go back to counter and get another. We had to wait to have it cleaned.

Pros: The line to get the rental wasn't as long and tiring as last time!
Cons: I got a $300 cheaper quote over the phone than I got at the counter! Even after various discounts it was more expensive than the price quoted over the phone!
