I rented the mystery car. They wanted to give me a 12 person van. My other choice was the Genesis G 80 all electric I chose that car. I asked The Avis representative to show me anything about the car and he said it’s just like driving a gas car turned out there was a lot of stuff that is different and I knew nothing about how to charge the vehicle that became very difficult to do. The car had no adapter so I could not use a Tesla charging station. I only had 6 miles left on the battery and anyway that was very scary and challenging to try to get it charged and when I called Avis to ask about it, they hung up on me. I don’t believe that was accidental.Reviewed Jun 15 2026

The customer service at the pickup was not helpful. Told me that if I delivered the car a day before I would be refunded a day and was not like that. I only received a refund of $16. The website didn't show at the top that the car was electric. So I ended up changing the reservation because they didn't show how to charge it. I ended up paying more money. It was a disaster. Very disappointing. The worst service ever.Reviewed Jan 22 2026

Horrible customer service. They never inspected the car when I picked it up. The car was old with 40,000+ miles on it and with all kinds of damages. After I dropped it off two days later, they charged me for a broken window.Reviewed Apr 22 2025

Car, SUV, was fine and addressed our needs. We were disappointed in the lack of flexibility at customer service. We asked for a 3-4 hour extension to drop off so we didn't have to drive all day and into the night. They said any extension is charged at a full 24 hour rate even 5 minutes. Representative said he had no discretion on charge. We ended up just making drop off deadline but didn't have time to stop for gas. They charged $9.90 per gallon! Outrageous! I live in Tennessee and pay between $2.50 and $3.00 per gallon. If all rental companies do this, I will never rent for pleasure. I often rent in Europe and they are much more flexible in their rules and policies. I am an Avis Preferred member, but I did not feel preferred at Avis.Reviewed Dec 10 2024
