Pros: I loved the car, no hassle return.

Pros: Clean, new car with good gas mileage. Great rate through Kayak.
Cons: Pleasant counter staff, but the way the add-on questions were asked made me think I had to choose one of the insurance, etc options. Also, the option to return the tank filled as a gas option was not posted. No cool.

Good car, but not iPhone connection
Pros: Smooth ride, clean, and cheap.
Cons: No iPhone connection even though stereo said there was capable USB connection.

Pick up was the problem.
Cons: It was a long wait for the pickup by the Rental Bus which is shared by all the rental car companies at the Sacramento Airport. And then there were no cars available when I first arrived I had to wait about 15 minutes as did other people for a car to be returned.

Cons: Nobody was there to pick up the car or get a receipt from. Some random person said to leave the keys in the car and he'll be back later today.

Cons: Not enough staff to move the customers waiting, and the cars seemed to be elsewhere for some clients, holding up the process. It took at least 45 minutes to get into the car.

Slow service at pick-up
Cons: Only one person working the counter midday Sept. 10. Long line. Half hour wait before Avis stepped in to help and rented us a car.

What was good & what could be better
Pros: Liked the car and the choice of cars The person who waited on my was very helpful, personable and knowledgeable Car was clean and nice to drive
Cons: Line to get the car was not long but there not enough staff so it took a very long time to get to the front of the line. For this reason alone I will be unlikely to select Budget again. It makes me wonder "Where else are they skimping on staff....repairing cars perhaps"? It also makes me think that Budget doesn't value the time of their clients. When renting the car the person waiting on my said "....and we are putting full coverage on the car, is that right?. This was very obviously part of the spiel and I almost let is slide but decided to ask how much that would be. It was more than 4 times the cost of renting the car for the day. REALLY? This is not how this should be presented to customers. After 3 more inquiring questions we finally got down to the actual coverage options and there was one that was FAR more reasonable for a one day rental. As the client I felt that it was a "Customer Beware" moment and that Budge (not the person serving me because I assume he was encouraged to use this approach) was trying to dupe the client into paying WAAAAY more for the rental. Please, just treat your customers with respect and stop the silly games.

Easy as pie
Pros: The rental was a great daily rate, the Budget representative at the front desk didn't to push the extra add-ons on me, and the car I was given was brand new. Great Experience at SMF with Budget.

No big issues
Pros: Sacramento pickup was fast and efficient
Cons: The Jeep Patriot they rented me was a terrible vehicle. Terrible use of space tiny gauges and a super small rear view mirror.

Pros: Car was in excellent shape and very clean. Personnel were all friendly.
Cons: The drop off at Sacramento was woefully understaffed. Several of us waited at cars with no clue as to whether anyone was even around to accept our returns.

Cons: a few days after picking up my rental car, i had a need to change my drop off date and location. i called Payless corporate reservation services at least half a dozen times. twice, the associates said they just didn't understand how to do what i was asking. once i got put on-hold indefinitely. once i flat-out got hung up on when we were in the midst of trying to work through the details. another time i was told to call back in 30 minutes to talk to a supervisor named george. when i called back, there was no "george". it was an outrageous, unbelievable MESS and incredibly unprofessional. the associates weren't trying to help, and weren't apologetic about the fact that they couldn't assist me. when i finally got someone who was able to change my drop-off dates, she told me there would be an $11 daily fee. i said fine, and so she made the change. however, after she confirmed it was complete, she told me about a $350 change fee AND that my daily rate would go up as well, but that she couldn't tell me exactly what it was and i would have to call a local Payless office. and she got very defensive/aggressive in her delivery! accusing me of 'not listening to her' when she explained the additional fees (which, again, she only told me about the $11/day). it felt like i was under attack when i was actually the victim of ridiculously bad customer service, disfunctional customer response teams and a horribly disorganized & unprofessional organization. NEVERTHELESS, i followed her instructions and called a local office to talk to someone about a.) What my new daily rate was and b.) confirm the new dropoff location. While this person was able to successfully change the dropoff location AND tell me my new daily rate (it had gone up $20 + the $11/day fee), she gave me different numbers about the other fees incurred and ultimately it took us 30+ minutes to work it all out. I can't wait to get rid of this car, submit a massive complaint to Payless, and tell everyone I know LOUD AND CLEAR never to rent from this farce of a professional organization again.

Cons: The vehicle actually stunk. I was shocked that Budget allowed that vehicle to be rented. Others commented on its condition. Not going Budget/Avis again!!

"Systems down", Slow lines
Cons: It took more than 20m to get the counter after being told the systems were down. There were a myriad of unstaffed terminals (only 1 person working, apparently) Once at the counter, 30s to get on my way. Waste of time and would not recommend.

Better luck with other companies
Pros: no issues with car
Cons: They weren't staffing their Budget desk and lady in a Budget shirt said she didn't work the desk and to just wait. I waited until another agency came over and told me to go to the Avis desk. So I got my Budget car from the Avis desk. And the folks at that desk and the Budget employee didn't help me find this out. I won't rent from them again. Their employee kept trying to up sell me on everything and it was really annoying because they wouldn't help with my simple questions. So the culture of the company is totally wack too.

Pros: Ease of check in and ease of return.
Cons: Getting the bus back to the terminal. I realize that Budget isn't responsible, but there were a lot of people for only 2 busses.

Pushed an upgrade for more money
Pros: Quick service
Cons: They said my type of car was not ready and I'd have to wait. There was another upgraded car available immediately for an additional $11.00 per day. It would have a GPS included. I didn't want to wait and so I agreed to take it. Then the GPS didn't work. When I turned it in they just would give me a coupon for $20 discount off my next Budget rental.
