Cons: I put in for a car rental at Sacramento airport and got one in downtown so when I went to pick up my rental, I couldn’t get it as they wouldn’t honor the reservation.
Cons: Person who works at counter in smf told me that there was no drop off location in eureka when I knew that there was. I had to call customer service and set that up myself.

Cons: Our plans changes at the last minute and we only needed the car for a local day trip. Our original plans called for a 500 mile interstate drive. Hertz was not at all accomodating at all. Hertz charged us over $800 for the same location drop off with 6 hrs of usage.

Cons: Pickup was excruciatingly slow and chaotic. I am a Gold Plus member, but had to wait in line because I booked with Kayak. There were 2 agents for almost 15 people in line. When I got to the front, I felt rushed. I needed a larger car to accommodate a group of college students in town for a tournament, so the agent said she'd give me a "really great deal" on an upgrade from a compact to a Chevy Equinox. I asked her repeatedly if was the best possible price, as it was outrageously expensive, and she assured me it was. I didn't feel like I could take time to pull out my laptop to check the pricing online due to the huge numbers of people equally frustrated behind me. As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I checked the rates online on the Hertz site, and the daily rate for the Equinox was much lower. I was overcharged by about $145.67--an amount confirmed by the Hertz agent at the desk when the car was returned. She, however, was not authorized to do any more than give me a $50 credit and suggest I reach out to customer service---argh. That is a process I have had to pursue before, and it is very time consuming and painful. The Hertz agent at the pickup counter in the terminal at Sacramento was friendly and smiling, but she was dishonest right to my face--repeatedly. So disappointing. Next time, I'll use a different agency.

Cons: There was animal hair on the back seats and the back passenger window was not clean. It looked like a dog had licked it and / or rubbed its nose on it. And quite a bit.

Cons: They tricked me into signing for an additional coverage even though I specifically asked to not add anything to my bill and was told they were not adding anything. Then customer service blamed me for not going through the 20 item receipt closely enough prior to departure.
