Very good location! Large, warm room especially with -10 degrees outside! More hostel athmosfere but it was what we looked for! Not really 3* hotel at all!
Location is great! 15 min to each club. Really queit inside patio where the windows of rooms are looking.
friendly staff, nice design, big room with high ceiling i wasn't able to switch off the ventilator in the bathroom and the noice was annoying, internet didn't work in the room, no hot water on the last morning
We liked the minimalistic, modern and very large room with its huge windows. The hotel is originally a beautiful old school and is newly renovated. The ventilator was noisy but not so much that we bothered to complain.
Staff, location, overall style and size of room. Breakfast for 5 Euros was not a pleasant experience, and not really a buffet. Room had no phone. Hot water was not available later in the morning.
Everything! They have a huge lobby, nice hotel layout, great courtyard, restaurant and bar, internet available 24 hours in the lobby, smoking patio, pool table, swimming and sauna. Plenty of on street parking for free and a night club across the street. I will recommend this hotel to everyone! Not a single bad experience.
Friendly staff, a good bar restaurant and a pool make this a good choice of hostel. A good hostel, but if you're looking for a good value single room there's plenty of better hotels in more central locations at comparable prices.
Great location - Hotel was close to bars, clubs and restaurants. You could walk to the O2 arena in 10 mins where you could also get onto the hop on-hop off Berlin bus tour.
The room, staff, facilities and breakfasts were all good. The roof top garden is good and free bike hire is a bonus.
room very comfortable good breakfast no air condition
The friendliness, helpfulness and professionalism of the staff was excellent. The range and quality of the food at breakfast was excellent. To have breakfast running from 06.00 to 10.30 (11.00 at weekends) was so different from some of the hotels we have stayed in. The hotel is within easy walking distance of U Bahn and S Bahn links throughout Berlin. Coming in from Schonfeld Airport was so easy, a five minute walk to the S Bahn, a thirty minute journey followed by a five minute walk to the hotel. We stayed for a week, it was worth paying a little extra for the Comfort Room. For a weekend stay the Standard Room would be more than adequate.
my wife and i really enjoyed our stay in your lovely hotel and we would definetly go back everything was ecellent regards martin&ann duggan ireland to be honest there is nothing we disliked
Reception staff were very welcoming and the breakfast buffet was substantial. Rooms were clean and comfortable Bar service in the evening was poor as the bar was not staffed at all times leading to a substantial wait for service.
Room clean and comfortable, good beds, pillows (small) and blankets. Location ok, not great but close walk to the s and u bahn. Friendly staff. Good breakfast (buffet), got cup of good cafe American at request. Free apples at the reception, free bottle of water as welcome. Not Internet friendly - free only in the lobby but no comfortable space there. Got mislead by info at booking.com. In the room you have to buy time by t mobile 8 euro an hour or 30 euro a month. Bathrooms: no bathtubs, only shower, water stays on the floor. No big pillows (for reading), English tv not free.
everything about the hotel was excellent,i can not have any complaints. the staff were very pleasant and helpful. breakfast was very good too
very friendly and efficient staff; good value for money; close to transport links; excellent breakfast quality of room service food not to same standard as breakfast
Hotel room is very comfortable. Come with a pantry as well. Breakfast is great. Staff friendly.
nice hotel, the room is really clean and new it is a little bit far from the center. however, it is easy to go out by S-bahn or U-bahn.
Convenient location, nice hotel, reasonable breakfast, bicycle rent. Made me feel at home. No reception after midnight. Imagine what would happen if you key card stopped working of smth. like that.
close to Berghain..... realy very close)))))
Good breakfast, The court was a bit noisy in the morning.
Friendliness of staff Hotel bar was not well stocked and closed very early
Rooms are new, clean and spacious. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast is excellent. Hotel is 10-15 minutes walk to the Ostbahnhof, or there is a bus one minute away that goes to this train station. Would return here again.
Clean, bright, small hotel with excellent, friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast (included in price) - fresh and delicious. Quiet location within easy reach of trams and trains and short walk to excellent value restaurants.
This hotel is quite new and offers all the facilities that we can expect regarding the price.no complaint what so ever.on eof the best small hotel in berlin. Nothing really .some of the people could think theta the location of the hotel nu is not very convenient for visiting the city . for me that did not cause any inconvenience .
A welcome message in the room states that nu hotel's mission is to make its visitor feel like it's something more than a 3 star hotel - and this mission is totally complete.
A nice quiet hotel, set in a small courtyard off a quiet street. Within walking distance of several sites. Very easy access to the super Berlin public transport system. Friendly & attentive staff, very clean, a good choice in the buffet breakfast.
The best thing about the hotel was the family room's mezzanine level and the breakfast. Would have been better if the shower was less see through and there was a hook for hanging a towel in the shower.
I loved the aesthetic and the design in terms of its cleverness, imagination and detail, while also being very practical and comfortable. I was very comfortable there. I liked the bar, lounge and breakfast very much. The staff were lovely and helpful, but unobtrusive. Everything was very positive. I have no negative comments.
The rooms are wonderful, each room is designed differently, according to the number of people. Staff is young, proactive and there available for any of your needs. The common area is made for socializing, you have book everywhere that you can read, and the espresso coffee is very good and relatively convenient (always hard to fine in north Europe). Social events are organized every night, like singing and poetry reading. I recommend this hotel to any backpacker, it may be a little be more expensive than an actual hostel but it worth the experience. Moreover it's near the main S-Bahn line so you can reach any location in no time, and you can start your city tour by visiting the graffiti wall. I will go there for sure next time in Berlin
very nice hotel staff and friendly atmosphere in the bar & lounge room; good breakfast; nice interior design;
Clean rooms, great atmosphere, imaginative decor and first-class service were the key characteristics of this hotel. Laid-back, yet efficient and friendly.
Very helpful staff With the amount of English speaking travellers visiting the hotel one english speaking channel on the tv would have been welcome
All staff members are very willing and try to please the customer, smiling, very positive attitude, feel like friends No air condition, no phone in room (every small request had to go to the reception), no Safe in room
great design, great attitude, great character.
Very nice hotel, nice design. Cool bar and lobby. Nice breakfast and breakfast room. Maybe not very well localized but with easy access to public transport.
I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and loved every minute of it. The staff are really helpful, friendly and knowledgeable without being in your face. The hotel was perfectly located, near loads of restaurants, bars, clubs, S-Bahn, the Berlin Wall etc but still quiet enough to get some rest after a long day and night! Amazing design and such good value for the price. The only slight negative that I can think of is that the beds were really hard but don't let a tiny thing like this put you off if you are thinking of staying there.
Very close to the O2 Arena, East Side Gallery and S/U-Bahn. Free WiFi or, at least, one public computer with Internet connection would be a good addition to the hotel services.
They could not have been nicer. Our room was not available when we checked in early and they assigned us another one very quickly. They serve breakfast until 11:00 each morning and dinner until 11:00 pm. Everything about hotel was great. I can understand why someone may have problems with the noise. Like most hotels in Europe there is not air conditioning and you have to open the windows. Most of the rooms are on the street and the noise is very loud but if you are really tired it won't matter. I really do need to address this point. Many drug addicts in area. Location would be very scary and out of the way.
friendly staff. clean and nice room
Nice breakfast, helpful staf, very close to S - U Bahn , spacious room kind of noisy during the night, anyway not something the hotel could do much about...
The staff always make a hotel regardless of where you stay. Klassik's are just the best. The scrambled eggs were hard. That's the worst thing I can say.
a comfortable chair at the room
Amazing breakfest, friendly stuff Location is terrible - no own car parking, parking at the street where you will find a place. My car was inentionaly scratched by nail or some other metal tool. All car side long. It is 500eur costs to repair.
Perfect and huge bathroom, clean room. Not far from U-bdf. A breakfast very impessed me - hot sausages, eggs, fruits, even pomegranate
Very nice staff, clean rooms and excellent breakfast. No aircondition which made the room hot as a sauna. No cool in the fridge either.
Hotel was great. Clean, comfortable and well equipped rooms. Location is perfect, just few minutes walking distance from metro and S-ban (5 min by train from the city center), and near a bar/restaurants street. Breakfast was good. Staff were very friendly.
The Location was great, only 5 mins form the u + s Bann stations
Simple no frills hotel. Easy acces to U bahn service. Reasonably selection of breakfast. Good number of car parking spaces in the back yard of the hotel. Beds are ok. I asked for non smoking rooms. Both rooms were clearly smokers rooms very recently. There should be a simple coffee & the making facility in the rooms. Double bed room should contain a double/twin bed, and not two seperate beds placed in each side of the room.
location to s-bahn, hotel staff friendly and helpful,
Good location, comfortable room
the east Berlin style was interesting,It was also convient thas there was personal on guard during nigt time an other time I think I wood chose a more central situatet hotel
- Warning! Don't go there for the singel rooms with low hostel standard they charge you for hotel prices! A room hardley 2 meters width, and so short the door couldn't open properly! Nothing on the walls and shower and the toilet (without lamp) in the corridor for 55 eur is robbery!! Do absoloutely not, I repeat not(!!), do I mean not or nott!!!! Go there for a single room at that price...
Hotel is really good and I would recommend others friends to stay in this hotel, if they are planning trip to Berlin
Location - right in the Friedrichshain area, with all the art students, pubs and dance clubs. Also right next to the S-Bahn station. 1. Room has almost nothing in it - no way to make coffee, hardly anywhere to organize your stuff... 2. Shared facilities 3. An item of clothing was missing, and we suspect it was taken by some staff member. They claimed they would compensate us, and it hasn't happened so far.
loaction and bathroom shared with just 1 other room. good quit sleeping place, good bed. the paintings were all the same, which was funny, but the interior was ugky.
good location for visiting east side gallery, and easy to get to from public transport. Room was very clean, bed was comfortable. Although on a main road the room was incredibly quiet as in a courtyard. Shared bathroom was very nice and clean also.
Not always very clean. Shared shower/toilets didn't seem to be cleaned daily, room was not vacuumed properly
The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Receptionist is not helpful and can't understand English well.
It's located near the station Warschauer Strasse, i.e. the communications are good. The breakfast is good. The room was insufficiently soundproof. There was a strange smell in the corridor.
Of course the postion between Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg and the connections with tram and S-bhan. Rooms are really hostel one, basic, even if the single room has tv and refrigerator in each room. If the price is reasonable for a medium-low standard hostel go there, but probably 55 euros for a single room there are too much.
One spider that finally he was my friend Cold coffe, smell
The staff was very friendly and helpful. they gave us lots of useful hints and tips. Nessuno.
Good location and friendly and helpful staff The breakfast is not very attractive and tasty
the staff wer so helpful, excellent location. At night in Rm 34, there is a loud clicking sound that comes on and off constantly. i am a fairly sound sleeper, but it may have kept others awake.
The staff was very helpful and kind. The breakfast was good, The lounge was nice as well.
We enjoyed the location beside the last remaining pieces of the Berlin wall - really interesting part of town. The boat was excellent and Anya the hostess exceptionally helpful. Would love to come and stay again. No
Friendly staff Room was near breakfast area-got woken up early
Very warm and cosy, nice staff Towels and sheets were not change at all during my whole stay (3 nights)
friendly and helpfull staff.boat warm bar great b/fast could b better
The fact that there is no tv in the room
the incredible sexy and so nice german receptionist called Daisy if im not comfuse the name, with the most beautifull smile and eyes a have never seen. If somebody read this and can tell to her...sorry by the attack in the night hehehe she will understand. also the rest of the staff there were great and the installations, the pool...ect everything was great.
Very helpful, cheerful staff. Very comfortable, clean rooms Charge for wireless. If coffee shops can provide it free, so can a hostel
the location/ our room were warm/ hotel is quiet/ nice view the towels
budget hostel with almost all needed facilities, clean and cosy Some girls were cooking when I was drinking coffee in the kitchen. One staff came in and remind the girls to open the window when cooking with a very unpolite tone because he received complaints about the smell from someone. First, no ventilation system in the kitchen is already your mistake. Secondly, to be 100% honest, the girls did not do anything with strong smell, just fry eggs and pasta. In my opinion it is really unprofessional to blame your customers because of actually your fault.
The Ostel's closeness to Ostbahnhof(rail station) - it was fantastic!
This is an excellent choice for those who are mostly thinking about price and cleanliness, but it is also very well located with regards to public transport (the train station is only a few steps away) and there is a cheap supermarket right by too. And the design is cool and fun. Staff was very friendly too. Highly recommend this place. It didn't bother me but sound easily travels through the doors. However, there seem to be only 3 rooms in each section so there are really only two other rooms that will be using the same hallway as you.
It was a great experience stepping back into the East Germany of the 1980s. The room was basic, but met our expectations. It's not for everyone, but if you want to experience what life was like back then, then it's great. I thought the shared bathroom on our floor was untidy.
I liked the old radio in my room and the helpful staff who provided me a really useful instruction about the city. NO
Very good location, the decoration of the Hostel is cool with a ddr look. Room is big (mine was a double room). They didn't keep my receipt and didnt put my payment in the system, if I haven't kept the receipt they would make me pay again. The entrance is not controlled.
We were given a single room at the price of a double room (8 square meters). There were no closet, toilet, tv or anything in the room, and it was noisy. There were no common rooms at the hotel and the DDR-design are pseudo. Very low value for money.
The staff were very helpful in giving information, stowing our luggage on the last day and spoke English! Noise! It claims to have sound-proofed rooms. They certainly block the noise from the nearby railway station but the walls are paper-thin. There was drilling early morning twice, loud talking by people with their door open at 2.15 am and a woman shouting into the shower that she had left her ring there.
Great novelty ddr hostel! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Clean rooms, nice bathrooms. Plenty of hot water! Nothing
DDR feel. Overall clean. No toilet in the room, even if you paid for. No or bad WLAN in the room. Didn't liked, that I was asked to pay the bill in advance during the checkin.
This place had an interesting retro decor, that lives up to the DDR theme that they are going for. The room was pleasant enough for a Hostel. Generally it initially met the expectations of what I was paying for. The location is good. Fairly close to many things, particularly the Ostbahnhof. The room smelled like it had been smoked in every day for years, despite the no smoking signs everywhere. I was letting that slide until I found out that my room had bed bugs! I had lots of bites. Upon closer inspection, I found out that the mattress was infested, and I killed a full grown adult as it was crawling around on me. The room had almost all of the things you can look for when hunting for bed bugs infestation. Blood spots from the post-feed, bug parts in the mattress lining, bug dirt in the sheets and mattress crevices. It was all there. I understand that these things happen, even in the nicest hotels, and would not be leaving a scathing review if the situation had been appropriately handled. But in addition to the infested mattress, the staff seemed unconcerned. Which makes me think this is a regular problem, and that there is no protocol for dealing with it. The woman at the desk did not bat an eye at the dead bed bug I showed her. She offered me another room, in a tone that suggested I was being unreasonable. There was no apology, no offer of refund for the two nights I had already been there, no offer to pay for laundry, no offer of plastic bags to quarantine things. They didn't want to come look at the room to see where the bugs were. Those are all bad signs, and I left for another hotel minutes thereafter. I did get refunded for the nights that I would not be staying there, but had already paid for, so at least there is that.
Six floors, no elevator
