Pros: Easy check-in and check-out. Very helpful desk agent who emphasized returning the rental car with a full tank of fuel. The key drop box for early morning returns was very useful. Glad to see an ice scraper in the car (and I used it) because I've had to use a credit card to clean the windshield on previous occasions with other rental companies.
Cons: No response.

Unpleasant Cust Rep with partial information
Pros: Fast process
Cons: The customer rep at ITH was very unfriendly and unwelcoming. She was not helpful when I asked her basic questions such as daily rate and billing.
Regarding the insurance, she says 'The care does not have any insurance on it, not even state minimum'. Some basic googling finds that to be a lie, but only after I had paid the extra premium.

Pros: The staff at Ithaca airport was fast and friendly and the car was ready to go. The car got great gas mileage.
Cons: I was not expecting a Mustang. I would have preferred something more comfortable for a long road trip, maybe a sedan. Also, the car had a number of squeaks and groaning noises that made me worry about a possible breakdown. It was surprising that a late model car could sound so bad. However, the car ran fine and got me home without a problem.

Cons: Service counter help could be more personable.
Cons: First they didn't lift a finger to help my wife with a minor mistake she made on our original reservation (snippy, essentially "It's your mistake so it's your problem"). Okay, I made a second reservation to correct the problem with the first (simply wanted an earlier pickup time), I arrived to find they had NO CAR AT ALL. "We're sold out." A car came in early as I was speaking to them. They refused to rent it to me even though I HAD A RESERVATION.
Thanks for nothing! Horrible, frustrating, expensive (ended up renting from Avis at the airport) experience. I recommend that you stay away from Enterprise in Ithaca.

Pros: The staff was friendly and courteous. They greeted us promptly and assisted us in our reservation. They didn't have anymore cars so they have us a free upgrade. They dropped us off at the airport.
Cons: They were able to drop us off at the airport, however they were not able to pick us up from there because they had an enterprise in the airport. Also after realizing that, they would allow us to transfer the reservation without paying extra, so we had to take a 17.00 cab to the other enterprise.
Cons: I needed directions to return one way rental to Logan Airport bur could not get through Avis phone system to talk with a person at Logan. I was only able to talk with some who read to follow car rental return signs.

Generally positive, but deceptive customer service
Pros: Everything went smoothly with the rental itself. Although I have not yet seen the final charges on my credit card statement, so cannot comment on that as yet.
Cons: While checking out the car the customer representative asked me to choose among certain rental options in a way that made it appear as if the stated choices were obligatory.
For instance, he indicated that when I returned the car I could choose between two options for refueling (both of which incur extra fees). There are, in fact, three options for refueling, the third being refueling the car oneself (in this case the cheapest option). We went back and forth for several minutes discussing the two former refueling options before I saw a sign indicating that I could, in fact, refuel the car myself. Had I not seen this sign I would have been unwittingly led into spending additional money.
In a similar vein, I was asked if I would like a particular model of vehicle. I realized that I was, again, being unwittingly guided into spending more money on an upgrade rather than a choice among equally priced cars.
My recommendation is that it should be fine to rent a vehicle from the Ithaca Airport Hertz office so long as one comes prepared to avoid the verbal traps that are set; carefully laid traps which are intended to make one unwittingly cough up additional money.
